Title: So I'm debating dieting down some.... lol seriously

OK my GetBig brethren...

Here's the deal, I never actually like being super lean like I get for shows, and y'all know I fucking hate dieting.  But I'm starting to think its possibly time.  Its been a while since I've competed, my love handles are getting out of control....

So now I'm thinking, maybe I should consider, after the end of the year I diet down for 3-4 months or so, I'm 236 now at about 22% bf, I would like to get down to 200 or even 190....

I would like to do this and possibly get some pictures taken or do a photoshoot or something..... not really interested in competing as I have a ton going on in my life, but I'm not totally closed off to the idea either...  would kinda have to decide when I get down in weight and see how things are then.

But the problem is, you guys know I can really nail my diet down when I'm prepping for a show, but I have never ever ever been disciplined enough to diet just for the sake of dieting, so it would really be a challenge for me.

If I do this, I would like to put this up on getbig, progress pictures, nutrition journal, possibly training journal that sort of thing....  I won't be taking anything that's not sold over the counter (so nothing illegal) but I wouldn't be opposed to pro-hormones if there are decent legal otc ones in the market.

So my questions to you getbig are:

1. Should I even fucking bother with this shit?

2.  Would you guys be interested in following my progress in this without calling me an attention whore? Lol

Oh and the reason I picked after the end of this year is because I have a bunch of travel during Christmas, and I want to still watch the remaining Redskins games as I stuff my face with large pizzas!  (We will have a big problem if they make it to the playoffs though lol!)

So what say you Get Big?

Trust me dude there is a lot more bad shit that contribute to my fatness... the pizza is only during football season, my drives to Burger king on the way to the gym are one of the biggest culprits!

i would follow, and just for health reasons it would be wise to be a little leaner to avoid high blood pressure, diabetes, strain on the heart etc. you dont have to be contest lean but losing a few pounds and doing cardio is always good and the older you get the more diet and exercise plays a factor in your overall well being....

I hate dieting/cardio as well... but i realized it actually not only makes me less fat but feel healthier :D Just do it. Well miserable at times but still healthier haha...

Cardio high = like a drug.

I would be more interested in following your progress if you were looking to get even fatter than what you're currently at. People think its easy to become morbidly obese...it has to take some effort/extreme lack of it.

My GF took a pic of me last April on the beach and I was horrified.  Since then really changed it up.   

Compound movements, higher rep, less rest, switched to vodka from beer, no pizza or beer, do the Bas ruuten CDs and the weight dropped off slowly but surely without killing myself dieting or doing crazy two a days or anything.

Why do you even get that fat in the first place? I mean, 22 % bf wtf, I couldn't even get that fat if I wanted.

Do you stop lifting completely as well? How can a guy who lifts on a regular basis get to 22 % bf?

This is very simple. I went from around 12% and somewhat muscular to 12% and very small (HRT dose) in a matter of 3 months then to around 18% and bloated in a matter of 3 months.

There are some drugs which in my experience work best when you eat ton of food. On dianabol and test I gain a lot of strength when eating ton of food. Yes I do get fat but so what.

There are drugs which make you able to gain a lot of strength without huge caloric surplus but they have side effects that are less bearable.

Without drugs this is a fucking joke, I could train just as much as I do right now and get to 25% bf in a matter of 3 months if I lowered the dose to HRT and ate as much as I do right now.

Think about that training is 50% and diet is 50% of the equation. If you miss the diet part of the equation you nullified the training part too.
We all work out because we want to look better and feel better and is not going to happen if you eat shit!!!

me too, the only ppl i ever seen getting that fat never work out and eat a throughoutly shit diet, over years and years.

i once stopped training for couple years and ate lots and lots of terrible foods all the time and i got nowhere near as fat.
Genetics my friend.

I played football with guys who ate a chocolate bars for brunch, and fried chicken w/mashed potatoes for dinner nightly, and always remained ultra lean. If I thought about doing the same now or even back in high school, my tits would be hanging downward about 3 inches.

It all boils down to your body type.(meso, ecto, meso-ecto, etc...)

Lol I hear you. And I agree with the activity level statement too. I've accepted the fact that I must to cardio at least 3x's a week, and eat moderate to low carbs daily to maintain somewhat health bf levels. And if I don't do cardio, I gain fat with the quickness...and its not pretty either.

That's the thing that worries me, whenever I diet down I look kinda puny, just lean and in shape, where as when I fatten up some I look stronger and more impressive (at least in clothes!)

As I get older, (at the ripe age of 24), I'm more and more concerned with quality over sheer size in a tee shirt. We do this for ourselves, nobody else matters. Get shredded and sexy and make your wife go "FALALALLALALA!!!!"  in the bedroom while you show her your Weapon of Mass Destruction.

That's the thing that worries me, whenever I diet down I look kinda puny, just lean and in shape, where as when I fatten up some I look stronger and more impressive (at least in clothes!)

Galeniko, I never denied that.  As a matter of fact I admitted it in my original post.  But my track record proves that I know how to get lean.  Yes I absolutely  hate dieting, but I hate "feeling small" more... and that's exactly how I feel Dieted down.  Nevertheless I think its about time now.

You are much bigger than me, I'm 6 feet and for me to be that lean  I have to be around 185.... makes sense, considering I compete around 175-180

If I can drop 30 lbs from where I am now (that pic with the towel) I think that would be a good point to build up and put on some quality muscle nice and slow.


Nevertheless, you look very impressive!!  post up some more pics brother (no homo) its motivating me :-)

No when I do end up dieting down after an off season bulk, I find that the muscle gains were really minimal.  Its not about competing, its really I just prefer feeling bigger and stronger in the off season, I hate feeling small when I diet down.  And yes there was one year that I stayed at 210 the whole offseason... was one of my best preps ever after that, stayed strong the entire precontest and was setting personal bests in squats 4 weeks out.

Thats what I am saying.  When you aren't on anything, you really don't grasp how minimal the gains are.  Sure the scale goes up, but does that really translate into growth of muscle?  Even if your squat goes up from 400 to 450 with the bulk.  Is that more because you maybe got better form/technique which made it more efficent?  Maybe you rested more?  Maybe you focused only on that for a time being?  All those things people forget about.  I doubt all that is because a person gained more and more fat.

You look good, why let yourself look like a fat pig?  No disrespect...seriously.

Anyways, I will post progress pictures, starting the first week of January, every 3-4 weeks For 12 weeks.  Along with weight, bf%, and diet.  Will take the rest of the year to start taking cardio A little more seriously, cleaning up the diet some (minus the redskins weekly pizza).

Maybe readers will gain some valuable information from my posts, maybe you all could watch in hopes of seeing me fail, maybe you all could place wagers on whether I will quit prematurely lol

Nevertheless I think I'm gonna go ahead and commit to this.  So sit back and enjoy the show!

It's obvious you knew what you were doing back then when you competed, but you will find that the older you get the harder it gets to bulk up and lean down.  In your older twenties you can cut out one meal and be lean, as you get older, the same diets don't work, the same amount of cardio doesn't work, trying to do it clean doesn't work.

the years and years of hydrogenated oils from fast food build up a layer of fat that no diet or cardio can burn.
