Jay, is making the calculated and intelligent move that so many Pro's (ex-Pro's) overlook.
When you carry around 300 of muscle, or 300 lbs. of fat, you are miserable either way. Jay has no reason to carry around that kind of weight anymore.
He has already established his place in this world, and now he will retire gracefully and intelligently.
His money is invested and he is set for life.
Now, as long as he has not sustained any permanent damage to his vital organs, he should be fine, all things considered.
Too many young bodybuilders (or "wannabe" bodybuilders) think that being huge is a wonderful thing. Well, it might be if you like attention. It also might be great if you are competing... or not ~
The fact of the matter is this: Running around at 300 lbs is very uncomfortable. It is also very dangerous. Your heart is forced to grow larger. Your blood pressure rises... all kinds of nasty side-effects will occur, ESPECIALLY as you age. The age of 40 is a great place in life to tone it down. He can still look great. He can still look awesome. He just won't and does not need to be huge anymore.
It is actually more dangerous to carry around 100 lbs of unnecessary muscle than it is to carry around the equivalent in fatty tissue.
If anyone cares to respond or has made it this far, enlighten the rest of us as to "why" this is?
Bottom line: Jay is making a wise decision.
Look at how much Dorian and Ronnie have toned it down, and then look at all the guys that tried to maintain that size after the age of forty....
See anything significant that follows a trend ~
