By the time I was 22 one of my friends got into a fight and beat a guy to death and another guy that I knew but not well got hit in the head with a pool stick died. I'm willing to bet that both of these guys had gotten laid way more than they ever got into fights.

Your first point: apparently I did misunderstand you. We agree more than we disagree. It wasn't rape and I don't think he should go to jail like my friend did for having sex with a 13 year old (if you knew and saw this 13 year old the moralist on this board wouldn't think I'm a sicko and she lied about her age). I believe it's the responsibility of the parents to raise and protect their teen age girls. I am ambivalent about laws regarding the age of consent. I know I wouldn't want my 15 year old having sex with a 40 year old. But if it wasn't rape do I want guys thrown in jail for that? In most states two 16 year olds can have sex and it's OK. But if the guy is 19 than it's illegal. Huh?

Regarding your second point vis-a-vis violence. Sorry bud, this is the real world. There will always be evil and there will always be violence. It's the state of man and it ain't changing anytime soon. Best one learn to handle a gun and use his fists.

As for the third point, I'll ignore the gratuitous insults and I will say I agree with you regarding pre and post pubescent children. I thought I had made that abundantly clear. I was addressing the point about equating violence with sexual behavior.

There indeed has been some miscommunication. This is a long thread and ideas get lost and trying to keep track of who said what. There may be some difference of opinion as far as equating violence with sexual behavior but as far as I can see we don't differ much else on the other points. Just to reiterate, I don't like the idea of 40 year olds having consensual sex with a 15 year old. And I do believe a 15 year is not so naive and dumb that she doesn't know what she's doing. But just because I personally don't like something doesn't mean it should be illegal. If it wasn't rape I don't think anybody should be sent to jail. I hate to admit it, but when I saw that 13 year old that my friend had sex with and spent a few years behind bars I thought to myself, "There for the grace of God..." I mean, shoots, under certain circumstances that could have been me.

I don't believe in anything 100%. Sometimes I like to argue for some point with a righteous sense of emphatic certainty, simply for the sake of facilitating discussion. I think peace can be brought about through violence. If more impulsive types with primitive systems of morality are completely eliminated, all that remains are those with better capabilities for reasoning. So yes, I think it's possible to make peace through war; however, gene manipulation may ultimately bring it about, without the inevitable human misery of the former method. But yes, all this is futurism - for now, it is best to have some familiarity with guns and fighting techniques.

I agree with you on most points. Politics and morality are about opinions. Whether your consider one system better than another largely depends on how that system relates to your personal situation. It's the politics of ego. Opposing sides of an argument don't realise that they're largely driven by the same underlying psychological motivations. Political opinions vary - subconscious desires for fulfilment in various aspects of life are fairly consistent. Understanding the universal subconscious motivations of human beings, and figuring out how to fulfil those desires, is, in my opinion, the key to discovering the best method for governing them.

I have heard very few good stories about young women with kids but i dated one and the kid was not even mine and she said that "we were going out to a club." Ive also been in relationships where the kid wasnt mine. No more of that.
