I'm sure you know by now that a Doctorate and/or PhD degree of any sort gives you the implied right to call yourself a Doctor.
You can go to Law School and graduate with a J.D. (Juris Doctor) and, by academic standards, you are known as a Doctor of Law.
Most pharmacists are also Doctors in Pharmacology; they too can also be called Doctor.
You can have a PhD in Literature and due to the nature of the degree have the right to be called a Doctor.
Chiropractors have decided to include a doctoral level degree to their training. By obtaining their Doctorate, they too have the right to call themselves a doctor of chiropractor.
The only "Doctor" that goes to Medical School is a Medical Doctor (M.D.). Veterinarians, Dentists, Optometrists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists and even Psychologists (all of which might have a Doctorate degree) can all be called Doctors, but
NONE of those other specialists have gone to
MEDICAL SCHOOL.
Ultimately, the mere fact that a person has attained a Doctorate-level degree is impressive on its own.
The major difference between Chiropractors and everyone else listed above is that chiropractors are known as quacks.
