I listen to talk radio exclusively (Newstalk and BB Radio 5) but have a USB player in car so have a few hundred/thousand songs at hand at any given time. Other Get Lucky, which was so overplayed it should be removed from all archives and burned to never rise, I can't recall a number 1 since Mad World at Christmas 2004.

Pitbull has had dozens of great songs over the past decade. His talent is limitless & boundless. He is talented beyond compare. Every lyric is a thought provoking work of art. Immensely deep lyrics. Every song is an unique masterpiece. The only artist that is in Pitbull's league is Lil Wayne (barely).

music videos and massive promo budgets get you mainstream. if you have those, you can get any piece of crap track recognised.

I agree pop songs today are pretty fucking amazing considering the shit that was floating around post motown era.
They go beyond being just catchy and have an element of truly interesting shit.
However just because a song is popular doesnt mean its true pop.
There needs to be an element of catchyness, based on gimmicky novelty.
For the record I think this is the best pop song of the decade.
