Far right now based on war, and not religion?

It used to be that the conservative republican base was comprised of the religious right, the bible belt... those who believed that the Dems were heathens and murderers.  Whenever the repub party needed to motivate their base, they'd point out the lack of morality of the Dems.

No, fear/war thirst is what motivates the republican base.  it's not "I am a republican because we do the right thing", it's "I'm a repub because we want security, and that can only be achieved by conquering nations whose ideologies oppose ours".

Is this sustainable?  Will the fearmongering technique lose its effect after a while?  What will happen to that strong religious base who is slowly realizing their party kills many people for oil?
