I just bought a bag of their roasted macadamia nuts to try. I think I paid about $8 for the bag, which isn't a bad price - although, I noticed immediately upon opening the bag that there were several slightly overdone/burnt ones near the top.

Overall, they're not bad so far. After this bag is finished, I will probably buy a few more.

I only bake with them, which is usually only around the holidays.  Good price.  Nuts keep fresh longer in freezer.

What's the broccoli and cauliflower situation there? It's tripled in cost here...

Cauliflower a little more expensive than broccoli, but nothing outrageous for this time of year.  I think broccoli was $1.69# yesterday, cauliflower $2.29# both probably out of Mexico.

They're carrying more and more organic, locally grown and gluten free.

One of my co-workers was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and is restricted to a gluten-free diet.

She's been getting great deals at Aldi. I've tasted the stuff - it ain't all that bad!!

I've only tried a couple of things from that line.  The Live Free line (gluten free) is mostly cookies, crackers, baking mixes and such.  The crackers I've tried were absolutely horrid.  The noodles are decent.  Everything from the Never Any and Simply Nature lines has been excellent.

Yes, they were a special buy the week before last for $6.99#.  Excellent.  This week they have T-bones for $6.99# which look to be the same high quality.

In addition to the organic line of products (Simply Nature) which includes everything from coconut oil, salad dressing, cereal, canned goods, frozen, dairy and grains, they also have been steadily increasing organic fresh produce choices.

Great thread bump  8)

Do you guys have the other brother's chain in the States?  I'm talking about LIDL.

Got one of these lined up for Father's day (hopefully, if my hint's have been dropped heavy enough!  :))

That's not a store I've ever heard of in the States.

Aldi in California often times has Tri-Tip on special/sale for $2.99/lb.  I rarely see it available in other states, but when it is available, it's definitely worth stocking up on.

Seems various countries have different ways of butchering livestock.  The Dominican and parts of Mexico just mutilate a chicken.  And what they call "steak" is a thin piece of shoe leather.  Even within the US, various regions have different cuts of meat.  I've never seen a cut like that.  Looks awesome.  Is it just a ribeye with the rib bone?

Yes, I believe so - the bone is just for dramatic effect I guess  :)

Been reading up on how to cook something this big - probably going to try this method

http://jesspryles.com/recipe/how-to-cook-a-tomahawk-steak/

With two tiny changes - I'm going to let the thing come up to room temperature before I start the pre-heating.  I also don't put pepper on until after cooking.  There's probably a good reason for not doing either of these things, but what they hey...

I'm also making some sour-cream based horseradish sauce, with far too much horseradish - just to help me digest this thing!

I'll report back when I've slept off the 'meat-sweats'  ;D

Those directions are a little unclear regarding letting it come to room temp before cooking, but the picture indicates it's room temp.  Using fresh cracked course pepper prior to cooking shouldn't be a burn concern.

This is an awesome horseradish sauce.

 Mustard Horseradish Sauce:

    3/4 cup mayonnaise
    1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
    1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
    1/2 tablespoon prepared horseradish
    2 tablespoons sour cream
    Kosher salt
