-
Yes...and we still have to come to work. Fuck Barry..fuck him. It won't matter if they pass something next week...as long as its by the 15th then we'll be fine. If it takes longer we'll get our backpay on the 1st......allegedly.

that sucks man!

The last one lasted 5 days. They shut down again before christmas. We got paid that time. They're trying to pass a bill to ensure that we get paid regardless. We'll get our back pay. I just hope as soon as they go back to work they launch our cash.
-
UPDATE *** NBC's Luke Russert reports that House GOP leaders, accusing the president of "not leading" on the budget, now say that they will call for a vote tomorrow on the one-week budget extension that cuts $12 billion and extends DoD funding for the rest of the fiscal year

ah, i see - you get back pay, as you're listed as essential.
During a shutdown, federal workers whose responsibilities are deemed “non-essential” will put on furlough and may not receive pay when they return. All government workers will go without paychecks for the length of the shutdown.
-
If I don't get paid on the 15th and some worthless Department of Education slob gets a paid vacation I am going to flip out. They wouldn't halt military pay, that would be political suicide for Obama.

like he said, military is essential - halted but paid back retroactively.
non-essentials won't get paid back, it's possible.
and obama wasn't the one PROMISING to shut down the govt. that was the tea party goofballs. It's on video!

LOL 240 the reps have been trying to get this shit done for months now and its your savior and friends that are stalling and dragging their feet.
How anyone can look at the situation and what is going on and believe for a second that the VAST majority of the onus for the problem is with the reps is beyond me.
It really shows the idiocy that has taken hold of you bro.
how did i know this was a thread that would turn to the reps when I opened it?
240 saying "the reps are going to withhold pay from the military..."
well take notice of HH6's response brain child, who did he rightfully blame?
-
LOL 240 the reps have been trying to get this shit done for months now and its your savior and friends that are stalling and dragging their feet.
agreed - reid, howard dean, and boehner have all agreed that a shutdown helps the dems. So the dems want it, no doubt. We agree there.
I'm referring to the idiots who stood on TV and screaming "we PROMISE to shut down the govt". It may have looked good at rallies, but now they're going to get credit for it.
-
Yeah unless obama agrees to get serious on the deficit !
And he is not. He tossed his own deficit commission aside for gods sake!
-
im not positive but the promise was probably along the lines of "we promise to shut down the govt IFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"
but hey whatever feeds your idiocy...
-
LOL NO - I'll find clips.
Or you can watch Mike Pence YESTERDAY - chanting "Shut it down!" to ranting and raving crowds. Unbelievable.
-
It will suck but it might last 4-5 days. If it got real bad...I'd go work for a mexican cartel. ;D

The repubs have sent to bills that would allow us to continue to get paid. The weasly piece of shit currently serving as spokesman said it was a distraction. A distraction would be me punching him until his head fell off. Where do they find these guys. I think the American people are sick of the US military...there's been little outrage.

DAVID FRUM
As the GOP and President Obama go eyeball to eyeball over a government shutdown, I keep thinking of a story from one of Louisa May Alcott’s novels, the story of the children who put beans up their noses.
Story:
Mother has to run an errand. She tells the children to behave themselves while she is out – and above all, not to put beans up their noses.
To this point, the idea of putting a bean up the nose had never occurred to any of the children. Yet as soon as mother closed the garden gate behind her, the idea began to acquire an irresistible attractiveness. Beans? Up the nose? Genius!
And of course the mother returned to find her children snorting and choking.
From the experience of 1995-1996, you’d think there was one thing Republicans would know: don’t shut down the government. But like the beans, the more the Republicans think about how they should not do it, the more alluringly the idea beckons…
-
Barry the douchbag does nothing but plays golf and vacations. Ryan and the GOP grabed some sack and actually did something. You libs are a disgrace for voting for Obama.
-
Again - had obama reid pelosi passed a fucking budget last year we would not even be dealing with this. You pieces of trash who still support these madoffs like obama and reid have no answer for that.
They are beyond reckless and treasonous. The gop passed a seperate measure to fund the troops for six months and obama the marxist traitor already said he will veto that.
So whose ass is to blame for this?
-
Did you read Reids comments in the other thread?
The repub is far from perfect but the lib is floating in outer space.. no connection with the real world what-so-ever

There is some outrage. I agree with you that the media is asleep at the wheel, although I wouldn't say the public is sick of the military. Far from it. Check out this clip. Someone needs to slap that congressman in the mouth.
-
That clip is exactly why I not only will I never ever vote democrat - but consider them traitors as well.
If anyone deserves anything its the soldiers.

Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a veteran who left the military after admitting to abusing an Iraqi policeman, is now slamming the GOP for exploiting the troops in the government shutdown fight.
The House passed a bill on Thursday funding the military for the next six months and keeping the government open another week, but Democratic leaders rejected the measure over its inclusion of $12 billion of additional cuts. Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has accused Democrats of hurting troops, but West said in a statement to CBS on Thursday that he was "disgusted at the perception that Leaders in my own Party...are now using the men and women in uniform" even as he voted for the measure himself.
"The House Majority has now placed the funding for the Department of Defense and the funding for the troops down as a bargaining chip," West said. "In the last 100 days, the House Majority could have passed at any point in time a separate stand alone Appropriations for the Department of Defense and the funding for our men and women in uniform."
better stop voting for repubs too ;D

Allen West , that's your man 333386,right ;D

If you compare him to the communist treasonous pieces of trash you support - yes - West is my guy.

Obama: I’ll Shut Down the Government and Suspend Military Pay
Big Government ^ | 4/7/11 | Mike Flynn
Rather than accept a few billion in budget cuts (read rounding error), President Obama has signaled his willingness to shut down the federal government. (Yah!) For those keeping score at home, any government shutdown that happens is on Obama’s plate. He is the President. All on him.
The worst part of this whole debate is the Obama Administration’s decision to hold military pay hostage to the budget debate. For the last few decades, government shutdowns have been guided by an OMB directive issued during the Reagan Administration. Under this directive, military personnel would continue to receive the paychecks while politicians argued about the budget. The Clinton Administration, during the last government shutdown, kept the paychecks flowing.
But, not Obama.
The Obama Administration has overturned the old OMB directive and has decided to suspend military paychecks if there is a government shutdown. No reason to do it…but they have decided to. Reprehensible.

The Obama Administration Prepared to Deem Soldiers “Non-Essential” Workers
Verum Serum ^ | 4/7/11 | John
Americans may not like wars in the Middle East but they love the men and women who serve in them. If this story is true, and right now it seems to be, then I think Democrats have just destroyed any hope they had of benefiting politically from a government shutdown. Here’s Ace who is reacting to a story at Big Government:
Apparently, it is within the executive’s power to define “essential” and “non-essential” personnel during a shutdown; non-essential personnel can be furloughed (or at least not paid until the shutdown is over).
But it seems Obama is taking the position — for political reasons — that the military is “non-essential.” They can’t be furloughed, but he has decided (or Gates has; I rather think it’s Obama’s call) that they’ll show up for work but won’t get paid until later.
