They kept him on a ventilator and a feeding tube. When he got to the US they did a brain check and disconnected the ventilator. North Korea claim he went into a coma right after sentencing due to botulism. Odds are he was beaten into a coma. That dictator had his own half brother murdered. Think they care about an American? They kept him on that ventilator in hopes of getting a money ransom deal from the US like the ones Obama gave to Iran for an American.

The Obama administration told the family to keep quiet about the abduction while they paid millions to Iran to get a couple of their hostages. Obama's crew did not keep in touch with the family. The Trump administration was in very close contact with the family. That is why the family is so mad at Obama and rightly so. Yes, the real bad guys are the North Koreans.

I watched the press conference with the doctor couple days ago. His Doctor said Otto was breathing on his own, and not on a ventilator.

Because of the brain damage, I wonder if Otto grew depressed and attempted to hang himself. And North Korea doesn't want to admit that things are so bad that people kill themselves in their prisons. I had a schoolmate many years back attempt suicide via hanging himself from his clothes closet, and for whatever reason, he was unsuccessful in killing himself, but he did have lasting brain damage as a result of the attempt. Sounds to me like Otto may have done something similar, and North Korea just holding him there allowing the bruises around his neck to heal first before releasing him. I dunno... Just thoughts.

Global brain damage is characteristic of some type of anoxic brain injury .. could be from a failed hanging attempt. Or, it could have been botulism like North Korea is saying. The kid might have contracted it from bad food and stopped breathing, and they failed to put him on a ventilator in time

they said the brain tissue losses was consistent with asphyxiation. ie he had a heart attack or tried to hang himself. seems unlikely the NKs would have done it as he was a bargaining chip while he was in good health.

From what I heard when his doctors say during a recent forum, he was not on life support. His parents requested the doctors not talk about his prognosis. Seems like if there was a way of just letting him go, they may have chosen that. Using generalities, this team of doctors indicated people do not recover from this type of brain injury.
