Don't see why I'd ever stop.

About 3-4 years ago, I couldn't give a fuck about looking good, I work out because it's healthy.
-
Working out to "look good" is for homos that want to impress other men.

ive been training since 77 or so and im not gonna stop now, training becomes as normal as taking a leak when youve been doing it that long ;) its a great addiction
-
its still exciting after 20 or so yrs...
-
It's still FUN whatever I look like. (52). Honestly it's important to try and look good for me, nature of course will have the last word. But does anyone really want to look worse? The gray hairs and bridgework are bad enough!
-
I don't think you stop training, but at a certain points you should maybe change goals. For instance, I figure by 40 or so, it'll be time to stop looking at certain things like maximal strength, hypertrophy, etc..... and focus more on longevity based goals like joint mobility, general health, etc..... that most younger folks don't think about.
-
91.

I'm 28 years old and take very very good care of myself. Keep myself perfectly groomed, work out 5 days a week, have nice clothes, I even keep my car spotless. I can't see myself giving up on looking good. You look good you feel good.
-
I'm 50...on trt ...400mgs transdermally yielding maybe 40mgs. That puts my test levels in high normal levels...I train about 5-6 days a week and have no intention of stopping. My daughter is 10 years old and thin blonde and pretty...no fricking way am I letting her teenage years go by without the ability to kill with my bare hands. ;)

Well that explains why Mikmaq is such a miserable dickhead, giving up on what you look like in your early 20's...WTF
-
Why would you ever stop. It is a journey not a destination.
I am 48 this year and like being able to play with my kids. There are parents in their 30s at my sons footy club that are basically fucked and cannot do anything with their kids. Some would be 100lbs overweight, they stand around smoking and inhaling hotdogs, while I run around. Unless you want that, then you never stop.
I have 3 daughters under 10 and like someone said above, you want to be able to at least scare the shit out of their future boyfriends.
;D
-
Will never stop lifting.
-
I'll be training heavy till 45 when I retire from law enforcement. After that my goals will change to health and longevity. I will always love doing active shit. I want to be 70 and still have the strength to ride a crotch rocket and rip wheelies. I want to be able to go fishing and hiking and that kind of stuff forever.
My old man is 70 and he still can and does all of those things. Perfect health, no joint problems, still strong as hell. I think a lot of that is due to the fact he's never put down the barbell, and of course our superior genetics of course.
-
I'll be 50 in August. Not on HRT which probably the reason why it's so freaking hard to get motivated to train......but I do. After almost 40 years of training it would be stupid to stop now or anytime. But the best training for aging lifters is power lifting/training.

Yes.

47 and still training and juicing. Why quit? So i look like the rest of guys in their forties, pot bellies, stick arms, look like complete crap. My wife loves the shape iam in. Work out goals have changed like i dont train real heavy any more, less weight higher rep. Dont do certain movements that hurt the next day like dead lifts, heavy squats, flat bench.
-
I'm 42 and started lifting when i was 18. I'm not so fussed these days if I miss a workout here or there, and I'm not on hrt so I have no delusions that I'm ever going to get any bigger and my training has changed as a result. I rarely do exercises that will cook my nervous system or risk injury (which these days takes a lot longer to get over), and I'm doing a lot more cardio now than I ever used to. Still go 3 times a week, still look better than most people my age.
When I was 30, I was training back in Oz and this little old man wandered into the gym. He was so skinny his bike pants were flapping against his legs. He'd just bought himself a lifetime gym membership for his 90th birthday. He didn't have a clue at the beginning but he trained as hard and as consistently as anyone. He was a real inspiration at the time. He also gave me this piece of wisdom gained after being on the planet for 90 years...."Sleep with as many women as you can, whenever the opportunity presents itself!".
-
MC is like 95 and still training so anyone can stay committed as long as you find a way to motivate yourself and love doing it, thats it
-
As soon as your mom loses interest, im done with the gym thing.
-
They`ll have to pry a barbell from my cold dead hands!
-
I'll always train - I started when I was 15 and I just turned 35.
When I was a kid I was all about trying to be the biggest, strongest guy in the gym and it was nothing but permabulking. I never did become the biggest or strongest but it was nice to try and shoot for it and the journey was an experience.
These days I'm more about the health look as I get older - the muscles and strength have got to be there but I'm now doing so much more cardio and I'm actually interested in having a six-pack and definition. My diet is also much more refined and I actually watch my fat and simple carbs intake rather than just stuff any old calories in my mouth.
People change over the years and your goals change as well, and as long as I still enjoy it and keep making progress then I'll probably be training in the gym in some capacity until the day I die.
-
my main motivation/idol is not levrone, arnie or anyone famous.
it was during holiday in spain, there was a guy who looked 50 at least and was pretty jacked and very lean, you could tell the guy always enjoyed life by just seeing his face.
thats when i thought i want that too.
its easy to stop and get back to normal eating and thus, turn into a fatso or twink, while couple workouts weekly and somewhat good diet will prevent that from happening.well, and hrt/trt at some point, of course
I hear you brother!
-
They`ll have to pry a barbell from my cold dead hands!
That'll be some task when it's loaded with the 15's Wes ;D

Come on,I can bench 95 for a good solid 6 reps now!! :(

Most of you won`t have heard of a british bodybuilder called Martin Yates Brown,he was a potential star in the late 70s till a car crash put an end to his competition plans. But in the last few years he has made a comeback and competed in many senior shows, and took this pic of himself last week on his 65th birthday.Hopefully i`ll still be training when i`m his age.First pic is from 1978.
-
This is my 30th year of training. Keeps me healthy and looking and feeling great. Why stop?
-

That's what she said. ;D

Why would I ever quit? That's a question my moronic friends ask me - what if you stop training? I answer - why would I?

What's with all these sissys in their 30's training light like they're old, I think it's just plain laziness.
-
Will you still give a damn when you're older?

Ummmmm everybody is not the same , but me and some of my lifting mates were strongest at around 38-40 .Ofcourse injuries play a big roll in that.
-
us old heads learned to go with the flow and listen to our bodies, if i tried doing the workouts i did in my 20,s id be in the ER on life support before i got half way through the workout ;D

I get that, but it seems to be the norm, not the exception. I'm 38 now and still looking to get stronger.
-
I'm 44, look 34 and I will NEVER, EVER stop. My last day I hope to have a great workout...
-
sure you do.
on cable machine ::)
If you followed ANY of my thoughts on training you would know that I'm pretty much anti-machine in MOST cases.
-
i think test is one of the healthier things ive took throughout my life ;D
no, i got my hair turning grey at 25 :-[, makes me look old when its grown, but when i shave my head, i get away with looking sub 30 for some.
chaos, i dont know, some develop chronic injuries to shoulders over time, but still keep going.my shoulder joints arent the best anymore and it simply doesnt go away.
I'll take going grey over going bald any day. Reason why I said it was test making you look older is cause I always hear it does that to a lot of people.

Looking great as always my friend!!
-
When it comes to weight training I’m guessing I will call it quits between 50 and 55. If you don’t look good by then it’s probably not gonna happen at all. At that point, I’ll restrict myself to biking, tennis, and other cardio—and I’ll keep my clothes on. Unless you have a killer body no one over 50 should routinely be walking around shirtless. :-[
I always find it funny to go online and see dudes (especially dudes in their 50s and 60s) who describe themselves as “muscular.” If you are beefy and muscular people can see it; you don’t need to bring it up. Describing yourself as beefy or muscular when your pix don’t clearly show that makes you look delusional. :'(

Looking great as always my friend!!
Hi there Wes , thanks my man, you aren´t looking so bad your self either stud.

Look at guys like Wes, Basile and Musclecenter. They were already hitting the iron when the world was still flat..

You're doing pretty well at rationalizing the fact that you're too stupid to take any intelectual job.

Too high BDB 1.5 is best.

I hope I'm lifting for the rest of my life. Will turn 37 in August and I'd love to hit it hard again. I've never used so I only understand natural training. Believe me, I've wanted to use in the past, but hopefully that natural training will allow me to go another 35 years.

If anything, surely the use of wonderful chemicals will allow you to go well into your old age ;)

I'll train until the day I die , I really don't care what I look like but I can't help it , I'm still beautiful

You still in that cave Howard?
-
People want to feel special and stick out, the older you get and stay in shape the more you stick out.The end.
-
31 now, not super into fitness, but I have a good build. Probably stay in shape until 60, then taper off to just jogging/pushups.
