From the Review:
There is a scene that is unexpected and gory. So much so that it caused me to throw up. Yep, I did.
You have been warned you peeps with weak stomachs!
-
I eagerly await another riveting episode, where White Supremacist bikers work side by side with Black crack dealers, while not a single cop is seen anywhere in Los Angeles as IRA gun runners shoot it out with Mexican gangbangers.
-
This show has jumped the shark. I can't get past the lead guys horrible acting.

It's Charming, not innercity LA :D

Good Reviews of SOA-eps, alot of insight

New season is taking on an anti-gun feel....

New season is taking on an anti-gun feel....
Oh brother... :D
-
Kids with guns anti gun ?
-
Na, the shooting will be a small plot device in the grand scheme of things.
The shooting will allow Don Louge's part, the guy who's sister was killed to have more leverage with the bosses, and possibly bring the ATF, etc.... back in. It also allows Jax to have an out with the IRA, and subsequent war with them. There won't be a preachy anti gun tone to the whole season, just the next episode probably.
-
I was at a Iron Maiden concert last year and a few guys were actually wearing SOA vests like they were a real gang ::)
...wonder how they would of felt or what would have happened if some Hells Angels showed up and saw them ??? ;D
-
Always nice to see Robocop in Sons of Anarchy

Haha hopefully there would be cameras there to catch the moment between the biker gang and the "biker gang"
-
Sutter is also a big fan of Deadwood and have been trying to get Ian McShane to join the Cast.
At least he got Kim Dickens for now
-
WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree

Assless chaps = serious mens soap opera.

they're getting their money's worth of blood and gore in this episode.
jax going out crazy... killing all enemies, giving no fcks.

Für Shizzle
-
It should've ended at the major penultimate scene, but it was a solid ending to the series 7/10.
-
Won't the IRA go after Jax's kids now?
-
Worst fucking show ever.
-
don't get the hype with it, watched most of two episodes and turned off, no likable characters just didn't flow well
Worst fucking show ever.
-
Enjoyed the show, but I'm glad it's done.
When the show was "on" it was really entertaining. But it did slag at times and get a little silly too. All in all, a decent series.
I never googled it, but I noticed throughout the series, more and more actors from the Shield would show up. I wondered if it was just me, or if there was a theme, and if Michael Chiklis would ever show up.
Pretty cool how he did and what happened.
-
What the hell was the point in going through all that ceremony like they were going to off Jax just to shoot the guy in the arm... coulda done it without out the stupid drama. It's scenes like that that destroy the potential for a decent series. Then add in the unbelievable possibilities like slaughtering a massage parlor including civilian clientel and nothing happens.. come on... at least be in the realm of possibility.

Yeah, they murdered so many without coverup. There would have been a bobby elvis hair found by someone at some point.
I think they shot happy in the arm to show how Jax "got away".
-

Yeah, I understand the reason for shooting the arm, not why they had to go through all the motion knowing that's what was going to be done. Decent series all in all, though I had to remind myself during stupid scenes it's just a TV show, don't hold it up to the laws of reasoning and common sense or you'll just get sick. I won't miss it much.
-
Worst fucking show ever.
??? ::) why, some hairy H-D rider is bonking your wife ;D
-
This show has jumped the shark. I can't get past the lead guys horrible acting.
Thank you! Guy is horrible. My uncle was are real biker, in jail all his life. Whatever the guy's name, he's so unbelievable.
-

I think they needed the cover up to help square it with the other club, it's probably written in the by laws that the club must take care of it's own business, and that the member can't die on their own terms if it can be helped. What Jax did probably counts as putting yourself before the club, which is a no - no.
Realistically, I'd have liked it better if someone would've snuck up behind him, and capped him while he was saying his goodbyes, but such is life.
And, yes, in real life, Charming would've been on 60 Minutes, and torn apart by the government within the first season or two ;D. I lump it in with Oz, Banshee, etc.... where I just cast logic aside, and enjoy the ride. It makes me appreciate shows like Deadwood, and The Wire just a little bit more.
-
I think they had the same producer, shield and SOA. Lots of actor overlap. Having Michael Chiklis in the final act of the show was brilliant way to tie it together lol.

Not much of a biker if he's in jail all the time..

Big old round table to vote on Jax "meeting Mr. Mayhem".. Kept thinking of that insurance commercial with the guy from Oz.
-

Lots of gun charges mostly. Got caught robbing the Mystic Seaport, carrying the safe out on his back. Just heard stories but my father said he def had some murders under his belt. Scary dude
-
Not much of a biker if he's in jail all the time..
Not any kind of glamorous lifestyle, for sure. He's fucked with all kinds of health issues from drug abuse
-
Spoiler alert!
I've seen better / more convincing action scenes in: The A Team (80's TV version).
-
Very Tarantino like last few series, couldn't bring it back to a reality level, went from non fiction to fiction during its history, in saying that the last episode and ending was well written, im not saying it was great but he did tie many things into the conclusion. Im glad its over too, Im more of a non fiction type person, but credit where credits due Sutter pulled off a great finale, besides the Happe flesh wound, that wasnt needed with the way Jax went out.
-
these neat endings that wrap up everything..... we saw it in Breaking Bad too... just a checklist of 1,2,3,4,5 series-long issues, resolving all at once.
It works, it's happy and satisfying, almost a reward for those that love the show.
Then again, a cool unexpected ending is always good too. I liked the end of the Wire, where some moved up, some were fired, some of our favorites gunned down suddenly (bye, Omar!). We did NOT see a lot of the Wire ending coming.
Most of us were predicting Jax would die on motorcycle to wrap things up like his dad. So this was a little predictable, but hey, it was entertaining. I was expecting more from the homeless girl. and what is up witth the bread/food on the side of the road at the end? WTF was that about? I never caught on.
-
At the end of the day, Jax took the easy way out. Pussy
As stated, I liked the show, but also liked making fun of it. Some things:
- Jax and family had more personalized samcro merchandise than would ever happen. Newborns had Samcro hats, blankets, bibs, he had sweatshirts, sweatpants, jackets, shirts, and likely underwear.
- how disgusting it would be to have to fuck gemma
- how Wayne has been on his deathbead for 6 seasons. I was expecting a limb to fall off randomly at some point.
- how Jax could have easily moved to Seattle with his renowned child surgeon wife, let her make 500k a year, and had no problems at all other than deciding what to feed her for dinner and what position to fuck. But decided to stay and she didn't leave.

- Shooting at an opposing MC one week, meeting them cordially to do business the next.
- Cute female Doctor with bright future throws it all away for a biker dude that cheats on her. (wait, that might be real)
- 30 people murdered, no sign of an investigation
The what was real about it was just like most gangs, they talk about respect, family, loyalty then eventually shit all over each other
-

Shooting people on top of their club in broad daylight without even thinking there would be video camera's rolling 24/7 by LE... lol

Professing that you want violence to stop, then committing heinous acts of violence.... repeatedly.
-
Everytime Jax said "Trust me" his club should have beat the crap out of him..
The writers took a main character that was likeable to a certain extent, as likeable as a criminal TV character can be, and in the end made him so unlikeable no one cared if he died or not..

he wasn't even good at being the bad guy. Jax came off as a spoiled, entitled selfish grudge holder all the way to the end.
he didn't have to waste unser, no way. Smack him, take his gun, call it a day. And Gemma, dude, forgive her. It happened in the midst of "tara bout to send my baby boy to prison for 25 years", so yeah, any parent might do that.
early this seasons, jax shot the pastor in the head for making a sex tape... executed him without any thought. this year it was jsut too much execution of people without any effort to avoid it. At least on breaking bad, they would do elaborate schemes to avoid killing train conductors... in SOA, they'd just waste people for making sex tapes.
-

Like i said Tarnatino, pure fiction a series that started off with a closeness to outlaw life, became nothing but pure fiction, If i heard halfway through writing it Sutter became addicted or started using to meth or LSD I would believe it, played out like a drug induced fantasy.
-

The show started off with good potential then just got worse and worse, the last episode was crap.

Agree on unser disagree on Gemma. Gemma couldn't be spared. It wasn't just for what she did, but for all subsequent actions that it led to. That one action ruined everything - his marriage, the club, the streets, etc....and changed the way things were handled (preacher, etc) I hope someone on the net does a body count chart for how many got killed because of it.
And, if I recall, preacher got killed because of either someone pulling a gun, or they thought something else happened. Didn't waste him for making the tape, did they?
-
All juice's problems started because he was trying to hide that he had a black father so he wouldn't get kicked out the club. Two seasons later, Tig is openly dating a pre op tranny and nobody cares.

2 people on the bed got wasted. preacher was on the floor begging them not to kill him, as he was only wounded. they gave him the headshot. i guess cause he witnessed them killing the wrong person.

My HOPE is that Sutter will go home, smoke pot for a month and write an AMAZING show with the best elements of SOA + the Shield. Imagine a BETTER version of "Walking dead" where they don't act like whiny punks all day long... or a show about a construction crew that robs places at night... or some cool mobster show... with that cast, you can do anything. imagine Tig and Shane and Mackey and the captain(s) and unser, all in new roles... that show would rock, no matter what it was.
-

That would be kind of cool.
SoA was a good show. It just didn't end early enough before it got stupid. When Clay survived the season of the attempted hit on Tara, that was it.
-
My favorite line on the show was in the first episode. Some days your the Beemer, some days your the God dammed deer...
-
Good show, people take it way too seriously and do too much thinking.
Like Shatner says to the nerds in the star trek convention audience (SNL)
"Its just a TV show damnit, just a tv show" "Hey you, you ever kissed a girl"
"Get out of your parents basement, get a life people"...
-
I learned to suspend my belief in the 1st episode, when Juice turned to Jax and told him he'd hacked the fbi's computers
-
After Juice left the warehouse where his president patch was stripped, I think he should have gone on his motorcycle and drive to Sylva, NC. There, he should knock on Goodrum's trailer and say to him: "It is time. Let's sell some bitcoins, bro".
The show should end there.

Suicide.... it was kinda a bitch move. Let's think of a better alternative ending...
He *could* have saved up some blood in a freezer for a month, covered his bike in it, pushed it off a cliff to a fiery crash to fake his death (Yes, the Charming keystone cops would have believed it), then hitch hiked his way out of town, with Vic Mackey being the trucker that picks him up on the way out of town.
It's a way for the 2 chief actors of Sutter's two shows leaving town together, maybe joking about starting over in a new city and cracking open a beer as they turn up some music and drive out of town. Everyone thinks Jax died, the room is open for a sequel as Jax returns in 15 years, having made his fortune in a cool show where Jax + Milos (mackey) build a new series in a new city.
-
As entertainment goes, the entire series was very entertaining, especially "Laying Pipe" season 5.
But the ending.... if it looked poorly done by today's standards, well, it will look absolutely terrible in years to come.
I think 'less is more' when shooting those types of endings, a glimpse of the truck and then it fades out. Instead they tried to show frame by frame of him driving 10mph towards it.
And the cheesy crows, the bread and the hamlet quote at the end - appalling.
If i was shooting it, i'd ask for a big budget and would have maybe faded the truck into a flashback of his father - stood there open-armed to meet him in the middle of the road with his arms open. Like a surreal donnie darko moment.
Instead we get a piece of bread and a CGI crow ;D
-
This show has jumped the shark. I can't get past the lead guys horrible acting.
THE WHOLE SHOW is as irritating as hell.
most unrealistic portrayal of a bike group. has the overwhelming thumbs down from the harley community.
-
Telling your kid that you love him when you say you want him to hate the thought of you when your gone...
Yeah, that stuck out for me too... If that's what he really wanted he should have slapped the mom in front of them and drove off...
-
I will miss the show. I have a lot of the same judgements posted here but sad nonetheless. This is probably because I never got into 'shows' that I regularly watched but SOA was an exception. I think the kids never getting to know their dad sucked. Tough scene to get through as a dad myself.
-

Sopranos still tops it by miles
-
The Wire- Best show ever.
-
Sopranos still tops it by miles
Like comparing the Beatles and Nickleback
-
Sopranos still tops it by miles
And The Shield was better than Sopranos.Sopranos had a few really bad seasons.
-
Got a few long haul flights this year, might have a look at the shield, dont watch much tv, usually work train or sleep, but holidays and flights are the exceptions
-
Can someone explain the homeless lady, who kept appearing, gave him the blanket, etc? (A ghost of his father or some shit)?
Reason that the bread was there at the end when he died? (She was eating that when she gave him the blanket to hide under to kill the african american gentleman criminal...
-
Jax is not the type of person who kills himself. Shitty ending.
He should have gone out like 240 describes or like a real gun fight.
-

Yup, until the last season The Shield was an awesome show.
-
Jax is not the type of person who kills himself. Shitty ending.

Jax was the whiniest, most self-engrossed, selfish person the entire series. Oh, it's all about his feelings, his emotions, blah blah. Suddenly he decides on suicide? Stupid.
I hope sutter reads this thread and secretly re-films the last 5 minutes of the show. Release it as a "web short". Jax saves up blood in a little mini-fridge at the bike shop. He paints his bike with the stored blood, and drives it off a 500 foot gorge, fiery explosion down mountain into water. Presumed dead by that weak ass police force, convinced Jax was going to suicide it. He hitch hikes with Vic Mackey/Milos, and smirks as he drives past the hapless sheriffs examining the exploded bike crime scene. "Where you headed?" asks Milos. "I've got big plans..." says Jax, and it fades out.
Jax gets to close all those stories up neatly, he might return for his kids one day, and the viewer is intrigued with "woah, wasting all those people and faking death was only the warmup... I wonder what his BIG PLANS are?"
Mr Sutter - Go film that. The fans deserve the alternate ending.
-

Yup, until the last season The Shield was an awesome show.
The Shield was one of best series ever - had media/internet behaved at it's debut the way it does now, the hype would be like Breaking Bad.
Thought it wrapped up perfectly too.
Everyone I've convinced to watch the pilot gets hooked immediately - the ending is it is unbelievable - totally changes the context of the whole show.
-

Now that it's been a few day - i agree with this. He wouldn't do that.
I would have preferred everything get "fixed" and normal, then have Nero, Chibbs or someone close to him take him out, under the same conflicting dynamic that he had with Gemma.
-

Yeah, the ending to the shield was anti-climatic, but very realistic.
in the end, SPOILER: out of the 4 team members.... one killed by teammate, one in prison, one suicide, and one snitch. That's real right there. Not some "set it off" shit where people go out loony blasting cops in slow-mo. It's 10% action and 90% politics, backstabbing, hiding and stressing.
-
Yeah, the ending to the shield was anti-climatic, but very realistic.
in the end DELETED SPOILERS
Way to ruin it for everyone who may watch the show.
But agree with your sentiment.

I just found the ending and the last season unrealistic.....lol but then again it is tv.
hope the last season of Justified is awesome.....Walton Coggins as Boyd might just be his best acting ever.

This, throw it on hbo and debut it in 2012, it goes down as the greatest show of all time imho.Things like the shield make me realise that so much of life is just right place at the right time.

How would Sons of Anarchy have been if this was the cast? Would the group accept BayGBM's homosexuality? Would they accept Avesher and Galeniko?

I missed it, not that good ???

Only good part were the sword fights/battle. Bodybuilding related as their will be some major sword fighting in Vegas this weekend
-
240 or Bump at it again with the old threads.
this show was sort of a semi-spinoff to Sons of anarchy with some actor overlap, same production team, and same time slot on FX.
-
I missed it, not that good ???
the 2nd hour was better than the first. It's weird early on, you don't know who the established characters will be. You get to know 4 characters, then 3 of them die in one battle scene lol. About 90 minutes into the 120 minute show, you kinda get an idea what the show will be about.
In GOT, you know within 5 minutes, that this show is about all these groups pursuing the crown. ON this show, we kinda don't know the purpose of it until the very end of the show. Odd so far. Dedicating so many resources to realistic stab wounds, but very flimsy characters. But it's only show #1, I know many good shows started wack.

It was alright, once you accept it as more of an action comic book.
Mr. Robot is far better.

My hope is riding on "The Last Kingdom" starting on Oct 10 on BBC America.
It's based on the Saxon Series books by Bernard Cornwell.

you can not beat this scene.

Banshee gets better the more eps you watch.
-
i watched banshee and it really grew on me, then i watched the shield. Towards the last couple of seasons of the shield i went back to re-watch banshee with the mrs and some of it is painfully slow, dull and quiet in comparison, i still look forward to the last season but realise how much better a show the shield was overall.

I, and many I know, consider The Shield to be the greatest series ever. 7 seasons, not one bad episode, a great pilot, and finale......perfect.
-
I agree, and I'm glad I never watched it week to week back in the day, I hate waiting a week for episodes, when a series is that good I want to be able to watch at will.
Find it funny how Vic Mackey despite being the real bad guy of the series had the audience rooting for him. Chiklis said that Forest Whittaker used to get abuse in the street from viewers telling him to leave Mackey alone.
I was gutted when it finished but think it was wrapped up at the right time.
I read that Vic Mackey popped up in SOA using an alias name Milo. They intended it to be him, apparently the 2 shows are set in the same universe and the 2 main gangs in the shield are used in SOA too.
Would love to see a shield catch up series, lots of good characters to catch up on

I binged watched it too. Agree on rooting for Mackey - he's an anti-hero - similar to Don Draper from Mad Men. Vile people when you think about it, but you still want them to succeed.
As for the SOA appearance, having Shield cast members on the show was a reoccurring theme. Dutch, Shane, Lem, etc all made appearances throughout, and we all speculated why Vic never showed up. But he did in the finale, which was incredibly cool.
You should try the series Justified. Shane is a main character, and he's so good, you forget he was Shane.
-
Is mad men actually good, I think it's just listed as drama on imdb so not appealed to me. I've watched 2 episodes of justified, really want to like it as I like olyphant etc but it's not grabbed me, does it take a little while to get going?
Chiklis could do with losing fair amount of pounds these days, far cry from his Vic days

In justified, i was grabbed by the opening scene where he shot the guy he told to leave town, so I may not be the best judge of that. Maybe Calvin can weigh in - I can tell you the first and last seasons were epic.
Mad Men worked for me because I worked in advertising, but some may find it slow. It's very well written and acted, though.
-
Is there fight scenes, like does olyphant get his hands dirty, I like a bit of gunplay but always good to have physical confrontation too.

Plenty of confrontation, various formats.

ok, cheers for the info

The whole crux of the show is one on one confrontations with clever dialogue, and Rayland getting the upper hand.
