Reports that the building had a problem with it's gas pipes around 5 months ago.

A witness claimed to have smelled gas yesterday. Lets hope it was just a tragic accident.

Gas explosion. Those buildings and the piping are ancient in relative terms around that area, and until recently it was a very poor area so no one was making repairs or retrofitting.
