It is very interesting that you believe these are not protests. How would you describe the anti-Vietnam war movement from 1963-1973, (note: protests against U.S. involvement in Vietnam actually go back to 1945 and 1954).

You should see what’s really going on. A lot of these aren’t just protests. They raised the Palestinian flag at Harvard, just as an example. These aren’t just pro Palestinian protests, these are pro Hamas movements

When a bunch of angry folks come together over a cause regardless of what the issue is the group adopts a herd mentality. When this happens, they say and do stupid and sometimes illegal things. Hmmm, this may be one reason why I avoid large groups of people... especially angry and fired up folks.

These are past simple protests.

I am not sure Columbia will recover.

The lawsuits from Jewish students will cripple them.

I saw a post that basically said if black students were denied entry by white kids, as Jewish kids were in Cali, the NBA season would be canceled, riots in the cities, and Biden would have sent in the National Guard.

If they aren't breaking the law they should be able to protest. If they are breaking the law they should be arrested. I think the ways our government, police, and universities responded to the BLM protests led to different expectations of how people should protest.

Columbia is a Private school. It’s up to them to determine what’s acceptable. They’ve chosen to let the inmates run the asylum.

You think this is fair to the kids who aren’t obsessed with this cause to have their lives disrupted like this?

The administrators there obviously don’t have the balls to put a stop to this like they did in Florida.

Portland State has been closed for three days with no sign of it opening soon. Nobody has been showing me what is actually going on because I have not watched the local news until now. Since you brought the issue up, I just watched this recent Channel 8 KGW press release on YouTube. -Very interesting.

I will avoid going downtown for the time being.

I'm all for peaceful protests. Our country (well, those of us in the US) was built on the premise of peaceful protests. You don't like the war between Israel and Hamas (Palatines)? By all means protest. You don't like how some minorities are treated by some police, by all means protest. You don't like that X was elected over Y  by all means protest. The constitutions makes that available to all Americans and it's encouraged or should be. I encourage it. But "peaceful" is a key component and can't be understated. When you go from peaceful to violent, it becomes more than a protest. all bets are off.
