Title: Why do bodybuilding fans get upset when you...
Post by: #1 Klaus fan on July 25, 2009, 03:07:13 PM
criticize this great sport?  ;D Of course you can like it but if you can't see anything wrong with it then you are delusional.  :-\ For example, why get mad if somebody says "man in a thong" or "drug abuser" or "bodybuilders have self-esteem problems", those are or might be atleast in some way true.  :D

Me not understand. Why people have trouble with facts?

I think people become uncomfortable when we call attention to something that is true but that they have been ignoring or denying, and the natural reaction is hostility.

anybody with two eyes can see there are many problems with bodybuilding today, if you think they have self esteem or drug problems fine but why post here if you think the whole thing is gay

it just doesn't make sense to spend a large portion of your life on a bodybuilding forum when you think the sport is nothing more than gay men in thongs, unless you are gay

why post so much on a forum when your feelings are so negative towards the main topic, which is pro bodybuilding

i think men doing ballet is gay men in tights, that's just one reason i don't post on ballet forums

It's been said many times before, Earl, but just in case you have short-term memory loss:

1)  "Bodybuilding" is not just oiled men in thongs on a stage.  It is also tons of people who lift and diet for health, self-improvment, vanity, or just because they enjoy it.  Most of those people have no interest in geting anywhere near a "bodybuilding stage" as either a competitor or a spectator,  but they still enjoy conversation with like-minded people.

2)  This site is highly entertaining, and at least part of the entertainment involves poking fun at the trainwreck that is pro bodybuilding today.

Amen. Say what you want, but the majority of the crowd at bbing pageants are overwhelmingly made up of men. Whereas at a bikini contest, the same holds true, but the men are there to check out semi-nude women......now what are the men checking out at a bbing show? thought so..... :-\

this site is actually the best thing on internet for last few years when it comes to bodybuilding and reality and entertainment in relashion to bodybuilding and in general,,

straight out this is number 1 site on the internet when it comes to weight lifting,,im not aware of any other site where all the professional read and many participate even if on gimmik still not aware of any site where the all ifbb read like this site

the only problem with this site is that women are scated to write ,,they read but very scared   to write because its very harsh ,, then again some of them write with no problem like mike arvilas girl and few more,,many more read

this is the style of this board,,harsh and put you in your place very fast,,which is what attracts everyone here

You missed the point (again). Most Sports' (not male pageants) spectators are men. True. Let me explain this to you again....Bikini comp. or pageant, crowd made up of straight men = straight entertainment. Men in thong pageants, crowd made up of men = gay entertainment. Nothing wrong with gays watching men strut and dance for them, it's just the way it is.

And you can't compare a real Sport, to a bbing pageant. One is usually made up of Athletes, performing athletic feats (tackling, running, sprinting, dunking, jumping, throwing, et cetera). The other is muscular oiled up men, flexing and dancing. Nothing athletic about it.

Remove your blinders already......

Going to a bbing pageant, is the same as going to a Chippendale's show. The difference is, The Chippendale's are smart enough to get paid for their showing. To many of you, I'm sure you'd be fine going to a Chippendale's show, all while telling yourself, "I'm not gay, I'm just checking out the physiques".  ::)

As Goatboy elegantly pointed out, there are far more people that participate in "bodybuilding" than any other physical activity/sport. The fact that its pinnacle, the Mr O is now in a plight of implosion goes to show how much of a train wreck pro bb is.

In comparison to any football sport, it would be as if 2 people attended the Superbowl/World Cup final despite playing as an amateur.

Me not understand. Why people have trouble with facts?

I never got more hate mail on getbig than when I posted these facts...  ;D

Let's go over this one more time...

BB is gay because:

•  it is predicated entirely on looks--not  physical prowess.

•  the public face of the sport is scantily clad men posing and flexing for an audience of cheering men.

•  competitors often have erections on stage.

•  over the years, posing trunks have become smaller and smaller.  Glutes used to be covered up.  Now, we have competitors hiking up their trunks and showing off their shredded bums.

•  more than once, cocks and balls have popped out of their small trunks and amidst all the cheering (ostensibly over muscle) everyone pretends not to notice.

•  the “dark” side of the sport consists of competitors making lusty videos for gay audiences, escorting and/or “private posing” for male fans and judges.  Every competitor knows someone who does this but no one ever talks about it because in their mutual fear of discovery lies mutual safety.

•  I have seen guys (surreptitiously) masturbating in the audience during the posedown.

•  Who do you think buys all those videos from  http://www.repetrope.com/men/  http://musclegallery.com/ http://usamuscle.com/  http://www.muscleweb.com/   http://vistavideo.com/
and all the rest?  Women?  Um, no.

•  If you look closely enough at his website, almost every bodybuilder you can name offers some version of private posing, very “personal” training, web cam sessions, or selling used articles of his clothing.  Again, who do you think buys this stuff?

•  the ultimate winner in bodybuilding walks away with the Sandow statuette--the statue of a gay man.  Eugene Sandow (long considered to have the perfect proportions of classical Greek and Roman sculpture) dumped his wife and toured the country posing and flexing with his piano playing boyfriend in tow.  The two eventually set up house together in NYC.  http://www.sandowmuseum.com/sandowlife.html

• The godfathers of body building: Eugene Sandow, Joe Gold, Joe Weider.  Now, what do they all have in common?

• the most popular body building gym franchise is Gold's Gym, founded by Joe Gold (he also founded World Gym).  Yep, Joe Gold was gay.

Class dismissed.  :D

lol  ;D

i remember at my old apartment i used to have a poster of ronnie and arnold,, when people looked at the arnold one they were like ''that dudes jacked'' then when they looked at the ronnie one they would call me a fag for having that on my wall.. i had to take ronnie down..

call me a homophobe or whatever you want,,but you wont catch me watching too many bodybuilding shows. dudes twirling around in thongs is not something i want to look at. i like watching them train, but striated glutes is not my thing. with the bigger posing trunks they used to wear, it makes bodybuilding look like an artform.. when you have a thong wedged up your asshole is more like gay porno.

Maybe you just feel this way because your friend told you they think it's gay seeing Ronnie on the wall. Why did you put the poster up in the first place if you thought it was gay?  ;)

::)

You are a hypocrite and a coward to boot.

You obviously had no problem with the Coleman poster when you went to the trouble of obtaining it and hung it on your wall.  Day after day you looked at it and obviously admired it.  Only after your guests called you a fag did you decide that you “had to take Ronnie down.”

I’m sure you will still watch body building shows/videos; you just won’t do it in front of your friends.

I suggest you save up your allowance and go buy a backbone when you have enough money.  Better yet, track down your guests and ask them if you can have your manhood back; they obviously took it with them when they left.  :-[

WTF here other than maybe other gays would take the advice and words of a flammer like yourself to heart or as fact?  By your nature you are very confused.

It's like Liberace talking about women.... has no clue.

Most Gay guys where made to feel inadequate by a woman somewhere along the line. Be it Mommy or elsewhere during childhood, hence the non attraction/fear.

exactly...men have always admired other men for their bodies and what their bodies can do.....if Michael Jordan walked into a room watch all the guys go nuts and run up to him so that they can get an autograph and be around him and ask him questions....we secretly would wish we were him because of the amazing things he can do with his body.....we men respect that.....and the hard work that went into being able to do that.....it's not gay.....no one would want to have sex with Michael Jordan or Brett Farve....unles you are truly gay....you could call it somewhat Homo-erotic because we are worshipping other men....but it is a RESPECTFUL worship not a "pull your pants down" kind of worship

exactly...men have always admired other men for their bodies and what their bodies can do.....if Michael Jordan walked into a room watch all the guys go nuts and run up to him so that they can get an autograph and be around him and ask him questions....we secretly would wish we were him because of the amazing things he can do with his body.....we men respect that.....and the hard work that went into being able to do that.....it's not gay.....no one would want to have sex with Michael Jordan or Brett Farve....unles you are truly gay....you could call it somewhat Homo-erotic because we are worshipping other men....but it is a RESPECTFUL worship not a "pull your pants down" kind of worship

exactly

and has anyone ever noticed that "bay" is the only one claiming fans jerkoff while watching a bodybuilding show?

many people here have been to shows, funny how he's the only one to claim seeing this

funny how the "straight guys" want to believe everything he says :-*

Why don't you get lost queer

then why are you here on a "gay forum"?

why do you watch the webcasts?

i've never been to a chippendale's show so i can't tell you much about them, i assume they show their genitals and i'm not aware of there being any sort of competition

if i had your feelings about bodybuilding i would not be posting on a bodybuilding forum

E

Yep the greasy, little twink must be gay himself.  Either that or he is just stupid, or both.

I lift weights , built some muscle mass , and dont feel the need to check other males bodies in thongs , or rate them judging their bodyparts...

I also know 99% of people who lift weights are hugely insecure about something and that most of them never overcome this insecurity by getting "bigger".

All in all "bodybuilding" is full of insecure/gay people mostly, only a very few just lift weights for the health benefits and just leave it at this without taking the whole thing too far, or too seriously.

You cannot deny that most people who lift weights have an underlying psychological problem  somewhere beneath the apparences. But just getting bigger very rarely solves this problem, that has to be adressed with something else than weights, as known as "using your brain".

Well said. But unfortunately, your post will go over most people's heads here.

your post has some validity concerning the psychological aspect but although this is probably true, give credit that at least they tried to do something about it by lifting and trying to look better and get healthier.....they did n;t curl up in a fetal position and go to a psychiatrist and cry all day..

lifting may have helped these people to channel their energy and feelings of low self -esteem in a more positive direction....that's not a bad thing.....

as for looking at muscle men..again it's simply hero-worship.....it's acknowledging that the guy did something positive with his body that we "normal"guys strive for and wish we could achieve....doesn't mean we want to sleep with the guy....although some who are truly gay may have that fantasy/motive...

millions of kids around the country who play sports aspire and fantasize about honing their talents  so that they may play in the Major Leagues of baseball, basketball, football etc.....

for better or worse, the IFBB is our "major league"...getting there or having bodies like those guys means you have reached the top in your field....don't we all want to reach the top in whatever goal we set for ourselves?....looking at other guys to compare yourself to them or to marvel at what they have accomplished with their bodies is normal..it's the reason why guys sneak a peak at others in the shower...to compare themselves to others, and to see if they measure up, not to be gay..it's a normal thing to do...

unfortunately all the self-haters here on getbig aided by BayBGM have massive insecurities about the above..which says something in itself....we are tearing ourselves down and our sport apart by constantly saying it's a gay sport...if we say this yet we continue to participate in it and talk about it and look at the pictures we are self-outing ourselves as closet homosexuals just as Bay says we all are
