I'm 5'6 and the Dr advised me to get down to 145 lb. I'm at 160 lb now.

Anyway, not trying to be mean, but 250 at 5'6 would be hell for me. To each their own I guess.

My doc isn’t happy but he gets it.

Midlife crisis or something similar. You have to prove that you can still do it. The cost is quite high. Of course you won't listen to any advices.

Training at Gold's can do that. Lots of motivation there. Will this be the last time you are on stage?

Training to regain a youthful physique is great. Not so sure about competing in open divisions where drugs are allowed.

For this prep Joe I would throw my scale out the window and go solely by the mirror.

Train Hard!!

No midlife crisis. Let’s just call it unfinished business from my past.

It’ll be thrown out when my actual prep starts on February 15 with the exceptions of my weekly weigh ins and and BF% measurements.

 I can’t imagine being 225 or more at 5’4

Lee Priest is about 5'4. I wonder how much he weighs in this video:

He can't even grab his hands behind his back.

99% of people would find it impossinble toi get fat like that, his fat distribution is spread all over his body, most men will just get a gut and a fat back if they overate to that extent.

I have ab and back fat at the moment but my legs are pretty cut up

Fitting song, total freak...

I know he has said he went as high as 280 at heaviest offseason.

Damn it brother!

I just don't want you to go ahead and inadvertently pick up new (future & health-related) business that will instead finish you.

Either way, I know sometimes when our minds are made, our minds are made. I hope that, above all else, our efforts to deter you from any future contests are seen as genuine show of love versus our desire to pull you away from something you love. We all just want you to be healthy and present for the things you love most (wife + kids).

As always, if you go through with it (which I think you will), you can count on all of our support.

Your friend in porn,

You did great last show.   There is no unfinished business.  You won!  Health matters bro - don't get stuck in this stupid game these idiots are following today.  Not worth it.  You are doing awesome.

You're not getting any younger, Coach. You always strike me as very goal-oriented and wanting to achieve things. To keep moving forward. If you have the desire and the will you are on the right track and now is the time -- really the only time at this stage. One of the worse things in life is to have to look back with regret that you didn't do something that you wanted because you were afraid or just didn't believe in yourself. You can't go back in time and there are no do-overs. I think people aren't giving you enough credit though their heart is in the right place (at least some, there are always those that piss on everything). You're not stupid and keep a close watch on things and if there are real serious concerns it won't be ignored. Bulking up and being so heavy is the most dangerous phase of a "prep". It puts tremendous strain on the body. Now that's over and you are still alive. You will only get healthier now. Of course, the next "dangerous" phase is the final countdown when you start depleting water and all that stuff. You've done this enough times to know the risks of excessive depletion but it is done all the time in all sports where one has to make weight. You've done it and you've helped others do it. So I think health-wise the worse is behind you.

I look forward to following your progress and take inspiration being an older person myself. Godspeed!

52 here, weighing in at 235 at 5'10". On 2 blood pressure meds and Lipitor, so I feel I can keep gaining as long as I keep in front of it with the meds. Take your meds Coach, strap on your CPAP and take it up to 280 lbs. The meds will protect you.

Unless you are joking, you have a very interesting way of looking at your health. If you weighed less, would you still need two blood pressure meds and Lipitor? Statins have  some negative sides.

1. Muscle aches and weakness are frequently reported with the use of statins.
2. Abdominal pain has been observed in many individuals who take statins.
3. Rarely, statins may cause liver damage or liver failure
4. Some patients struggle with insomnia while taking statins, particularly a difficulty falling asleep.
5. Rhabdomyolysis, an extreme and potentially life-threatening form of muscle inflammation, has been reported in 0.1 percent of patients who take statins.
6. There are additional sides which are fairly minor or uncommon.

Some common side effects of high blood pressure medicines include:

Cough
Diarrhea or constipation
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Erection problems
Feeling nervous
Feeling tired, weak, drowsy, or a lack of energy
Headache
Nausea or vomiting
Skin rash
Weight loss or gain without trying

Amazing physique!

Is 38 too young to start on heart health drugs, assuming no symptoms are present?

I am pretty lucky to have no health problems yet, but pushing 40, I take nothing for granted.

Normally people don't take medications for high blood pressure and high cholesterol when these things aren't a problem and may never be. No doctor who is legit will prescribe meds as a preventative rather than a treatment.

Cripes. I'm no (political) Coach fan, but this is playing with dynamite on a short fuse. This is not funny. Joe, you are truly red-lining every health indice I can think of. Best wishes for the contest/and a return to health. You've got so much more to do.
