Although to be honest i would rather tell someone to learn Wing chun or jeet kune do for a bar fight.. ;D The problem with Aikido is there are too many Aikikai senseis who make it look soft and like Dancing... Yoshinkan is considerd to be a "hard school" or "Tomiki Aikido" has a strong influence from Judo Randori.

I did Judo and i loved the strangulations "Shime-Waza". My advice to you is take up AIKIDO. Great joint locks and throws that are more controlled. Aikido takes "Kansetsu-waza" a stage further quicker..you will learn the juisy locks later in Judo at Dan Grade(wrist locks) "Goshin Jitsu no Kata. Find a school of TOMIKI AIKIDO, he has developed a style with a lot of Judo and Aikido Principles..a great School of Aikido.
