Could you live in a house where brutal murders took place?
« on: March 24, 2023, 04:52:58 PM »
There was a documentary that I watched while I was in Brazil about various famous houses where horrendous murders had occurred.  Like the Amityville and the Laurel Canyon (Wonderland) murders.  Plus some other places in other countries.

It talked about how real estate agents were quick to abandon showing the properties within a short amount of time because they were forced to reveal the past crimes that occurred there and potential buyers reacted badly.

Hanky is selling his Hawaii real estate?

 ;D

If it was a nice place and not lots of gore-tourists lurking around the place then yes I could live there.

Definitely not. I grew up in a small town that had cemeteries all over it. Wouldn't bother me to live right next to a cemetery.  But bad juju living in a house where a murder took place

I wouldn’t. There’s a house in a nice neighborhood, near me, that’s very visible and very conspicuous. Back in the 90’s a guy murdered his wife and then killed himself there and I always think of it when I drove by. Couldn’t imagine actually living in it.

Yeah I like that kind of shit.

I’m renting the conjuring house in Rhode Island in a couple months with a couple buddies for an overnight investigation of ghosts and demons. Pretty psyched for that.

Depends on the murder. If I knew it was a regular type crime, and everything was cleaned up and accounted for, I could do it. If it was something like the Dahmer childhood house or Gacy's house, I couldn't do it. I'd always wonder if there was something unfound, etc....

It's an interesting question, a similar one that comes up on gun boards is "Would you buy a suicide weapon or claim one after a family member's death?" It's interesting how many people do. I couldn't, it's way too much of a personal connection.

What about the Amityville murders?  Husband kills his family.

Or the Wonderland murders?  Strangers enter in the middle of the night and bash them all to death. (still unsolved even though 3 suspects were investigated)
