Title: Eli Manning
Post by: 2ND COMING on November 06, 2011, 06:00:49 PM
Say what you will about new englands pitiful defense, but under belichick and brady they hardly ever lose back to back. They were also had a 20 game win streak at foxborough going in to today. Thats now 2 streaks Eli has broken. Its amazing to see him having practically his best season with all the injuries the offense has seen. No question he's in that elite company of qb's right now.

He has a ring!!!

Do you think he would have it had he did what he was supposed to do and agree to play for any NFL that picked him?  Instead he and his "daddy" badmouthed SD and whined their way out.  undercuts the whole idea of what the draft is about, yet he gets a pass because of his last name.

Peyton on the other hand, went to a shit franchise in a shit city and toughed it out like a real man.  Nothing but respect for him.

Don't respect him either.  Sad that the NFL would allow it to happen at all in either case.

Completely agree.  I've always disliked Eli because of that.  And he is one of the luckiest QBs I've ever seen.

The Giants weren't exactly setting the world on fire, when they got Manning. Remember they had Kurt Warner at QB, whom many thought was on his way out and just taking up space (who knew he'd take ARIZONA to the Super Bowl?).

The Chargers agreed to the trade; so, it ain't as if New York did this in a vacuum. The move worked well for both teams.

And, PLENTY of quarterbacks win Super Bowls on teams other than the one that drafted him.

Is Steve Young any less a Hall-of-Famer? He didn't win a ring with Tampa Bay (neither did Doug Williams or even Trent Dilfer).

Drew Brees got drafted by San Diego; He won his ring with the Saints.

Brad Johnson....he got drafted by Minnesota; he won his ring with Tampa Bay.

Brett Favre? I believe the Falcons got him and he got TRADED to the Packers (just as Eli got traded to the Giants).

You just said a whole lot of nothing.  I was talking about the FACT that Eli's bitch daddy was the one bad mouthing SD and saying that Eli would not play for them if they drafted him.  That is the whole story.  I don't care how it "worked out" for everybody, that has zero to do with Archie trying to circumvent the NFL draft process to get his boy to play in a bigger market.  So what if the top 5 or 10 or 15 draft picks said they wouldn't play for a team so that team with a 2-14 record could only pick the 16th best player at best, would that be ok?  The only reason they got a pass on this is because of the last name.

The referees were beyond awful in that game.  The non fumble, the roughing the Brady call, Ware spot, Eli getting roughed up.   THIS was what they couldn't tell was a fumble during REPLAY:

People should be losing their jobs over this. The NFL's value is hard to calculate but all the teams combined are worth over 30 Billion. And the fucking NFL has part time rent a refs on the payroll. Time for some changes.

The nfl even came out in defense of that fumble call/non-call...

They said the calf was down.

It's clear the ball was coming out before his legs touched the ground.

Since when is the calf even MENTIONED in that rule? It has always been "when did the knee touch?" I've heard about the back (torso) being counted as a knee, a knee counting as two feet when staying in bounds but, not that I know the rule book inside and out (far from it), I've never heard anything about a calf being counted towards a fumble or not.

And the rule usually states that CONCLUSIVE evidence must be provided to overturn the call. So while the ruling on the field stated that was a fumble, they need conclusive evidence to provide why that was NOT a fumble. And their evidence they provided was a calf being down? ::)

Green Bay still lost, despite a few blown calls going in their favor though.

The Giants beat New England in the regular season. However they lost to Green Bay, Saints and 49'ers in the regular season. But they beat all three of them teams in the Playoffs. What this tells me is that when it comes to elite teams that face each other,  whoever wins the first game will lose the second and vice versa. The Pats lost their first meeting this year against the Giants. Which may mean Bill B. and Brady will make the adjustments for the next game.

Load up on the Pats guys. Its money in the bank!!!

In 2007 the undefeated Pats beat the Giants in the regular season. Giants made the adjustment and we all know what happened at the 2nd meeting in the Super Bowl.

I think that's a fluky trend rather than a reality.

I look at it like this:  Giants played good against GB in the regular season, but better against them in the playoffs, same with SF.  Hopefully same with NE.

I don't get it. Joe Flacco nearly won the game by himself vs the pats. Ray Rice was a non-factor. The defense held the pats to just 20 points until the game clinching fg. Honestly, the pats should have lost that game.

In week 9 the giants also held the pats to just 20 points, except they did it with a defense that was banged and were not coming off 5 strait single elimination victories. On defense the giants are healthy and are playing great. The giants are not a one trick pony like the pats. The giants are balanced.

If flacco can have his way against NE, I'm pretty confident Eli will light them up.

I hope there are a total of 20 sacks and 45 hits on the  2 QB's in the Super Bowl.  That is the only thing I will be cheering for.

This...

The giants pass rush is better than the ravens, their pass game is 10x better than the ravens and they have a decent run game and secondary...

I liked the way the ravens put pollard on gronk a lot and I think how it depends on how the giants address the NE tight ends. All in all I think its the giants by a decent margin.

i hope the giants win, and i think they are the better team right now

i just have a gut feeling the pats will win, i hope i'm wrong but that rarely happens

Two things about the Pat/Ravens game. The catch Gronk made near the end of the half that was called out of bounds was in bounds. Bill B. just didn't throw the red flag. That should have changed the game. And Brady also missed a wide open throw to Groink that would most likely have been a touch down. And lets not forget that the Pats could run at will against the Ravens. They just didn't stick with it. The Pats will be able to run against the Giants.
