Paul Dillett - 1993 Ironman Pro PICS!!!
This was Paul "Freakenstein" Dillet's debut year and he made a big splash on the scene at this years 1993 Ironman Pro contest. He brought good conditioning and separation and to my surprise this was the best posing I've ever seen from Paul. As you can see from the pics below especially the back double biceps and rear latspread, Paul opened up his back and was able to flex his lats normally. In the end, Paul placed 4th and was beaten out by Flex Wheeler (1st), Lee Labrada (2nd) and Vince Taylor (3rd).

Better than Philsulin Heath.
WoooSHHHHHHHH
-
Such a small head. ;D

The original monster freak. I don't think we'll ever see anyone with as crazy genetics as Dillett.

-
His back looked decent there!
-
Great pics... in that 1st one he looks phenomenal.
21yrs ago, yet he looks as good or better than the
current top 3 at the olympia.
so much for progress. ???
-
TWENTY FUCKINGONE YEARS AGO. Ill kill myself! thatt went fast. ill be near 60 the next time 21 fucking years have past! : ( And this time it will go quicker!!! :-[
-
Very cool pics! 8)
Thanks.
-
not its all philsulina and balloon muscles >:(
-
Come on Iceman1981, stop posting about peak Dillett, it takes me few days to recover from marveling at his unmatched physique... The ultimate superfreak, craziest genetic in history, his shoulders-to-waist ratio doesn't make any sense... Back looks very good here, as you can see he has a back when he can almost open both his lats and he's hitting a decent BDB... Actually his head wasn't small, normal size i would say, he was just huge... An alien that we never see again in our lifetime...
Better than Philsulin Heath.
WoooSHHHHHHHH
It's like comparing shit and chocolate, Heath would look like a joke next to prime Freakenstein, woooSHHHHHHHH indeed...

I was at that show. Aviation Auditorium Manhattan Beach, Ca. One of Dillet's best showings IMO.
-
Huge traps...

For sure, Dillett was at his peak early 90s, after '94, with the ASC incident and various surgeries, he was never the same... Only 26 years old at the Ironman '93, lol, not from this planet...
-
Great calves
Top 10 All Time legs. Amazing legs.

Top 10 All Time legs. Amazing legs.
Also arms bigger than some people's upper thighs.
-
His back looked decent there!
I was surprised how good it looked. I think it looked better because he actually posed like a bodybuilder should pose.
-
bbers like him you dont have anymore, now its shrimps like heith branch and greene :-X
Jari "The Bull" Pituna would be just as good at Mr O as Phil Heath let's be honest here.
-
Seems like best dillet looked.
Longer thighs look so much better like arnold, haney and yates than the squatty turnip sort
-
Had this guy trained "seriously" an hour per day, 4 times a week, didn't diet on McDonalds and coke, learned to pose half correctly, he would have been a multiple 'O.

just posing correectly would have been enough
-
Decent posing, plus decent training and diet, all he needed... All myths about his bad back and bad conditioning are just crap, back was there and his conditioning in the early 90s was great... Labrada and Taylor in front of him, lol...
What surgeries did he have?
Shoulders, starting in 1995, no cartilage there... Lost a bit of his monstrous width during years because of that, training hard was not easy for him, plus chronic asthma...

Fucking incredible muscle bellies and insertions, his lats are almost attatched to his glutes fuck me.
If he were a bit smarter and had any ability to pose he'd have dominated everything imo.
Just unfuckingbelievable genetic response/potential.

wow... 3.3 Heaths wide!! :o
Dillett and Ruhl are the only ones I can think of reaching the 3.0+ Heaths wide!! maybe Joel stubbs too.

Maybe stubbs? Stubbs must be close to four heaths(!)

I stand corrected.. Joel is at least 3.6 heaths on a regular day, easy to maintain.

Better than Philsulin Heath.
WoooSHHHHHHHH
Hardly!! Dillett, in his prime, couldn't beat Labrada who was on his way to retiring, much less take on Heath now.

Yet, at last count, Heath has more Sandows and more pro wins overall than Dillett, Ruhl, and Stubbs....COMBINED!!

mcway you're going the right way for a smacked bottom

mcway you're going the right way for a smacked bottom
For telling the truth? As awesome as Dillett was in his own right, he repeatedly got whipped by a guy who didn't even sniff 200 lb (Labrada).
A guy who can't beat the "Flea" can suddenly handle "the Gift"? PLEASE!!

Samir was so bad he finished 13th and 15th.... ::)
-
I liked this or his 1993 ASC look the best.
On the video he actually gets big applause when he
hits his rear lat spread.
In 1994 he was more ripped but lost some roundness
in the Grand Prix he won.
In 1996 he came in at 275 instead of 263 in 1993
and lost alot of that small waist; incredible V taper in open
arm poses.
1st time I saw this vid back in 1993 my 1st thought was...
This is the 1st BBer who has long arms with full muscle bellies
like Arnold.
My 2nd thought was how in the heck did Vince beat Dillett.
-
Its insane how he was so big, yet was able to keep his waist in check.
7.8 heaths wider than Phil
-

From the front he could hang with most pros on the circuit today.
-
1993 Flex Wheeler was AMAZING!!
-
THIS was the original monster freak.
Sergio Oliva was bigger than that in 1969....
-
If Dillett could have gotten his act together no one could have touched him. His legs were unreal. From the front he looked fantastic. Incredible back and delts. His back always looked water bloated and soft.
-
I laugh when people try to compare Phil and Kai to these guys

Rumor has it Burke was close to 4 Heaths wide, some expertss claim even 4.0+ Heaths (what might be slightly exaggerated though)

Easy! Better conditioning and posing.

Yet he got waxed repeatedly by guys over 70 lbs lighter. Heath would take Dillett apart.
If you can't beat Lee Labrada, you can't touch Phil Heath.
-
MCWAY we all know what do you think about placings and judging, always fair and perfect in your opinion... For you retiring Labrada and Taylor (better conditioning than Paul? Absolutely not...) placing in front of that alien monster was the right thing, for me Paul should have been second, behind Wheeler, both at the Ironman and ASC in 1993... Labrada is/was a far better bodybuilder than shrimp Heath, only height was his weakness, far better structure, conditioning, posing, and just as good muscle bellies... 1993 Dillett would dwarf Heath into oblivion, everything far superior, with comparable conditioning, with Heath winning only on back detail and posing... Paul's structure alone with that unmatched shoulders-to-waist ratio would make the Narrow One disappear into submission... Hey, agree to disagree, this is how i see it...
-

Take a look at a Matt Mendenhall pic from his prime.....

I never claimed judging was always fair. But, when you lose REPEATEDLY to a guy over 70 lbs lighter, it's not simply due to allegedly unfair judging. Dillett "dwarfed" Labrada too. But, he couldn't beat him and he had his troubles with Taylor.
To claim Dillett would beat Heath, whose only about 25 lbs lighter than Dillett in his prime, makes no sense.
It happens frequently in bodybuilding. Smaller but better-conditioned and proportioned guys beat bigger guys.
Someone mentioned Markus Ruhl. After his big NOC win in 2002, he lost in Italy to a way smaller Darrem Charles. We know of the story of a shredded Rich Gaspari, beating a much larger Vic Richards. And we all know what happened in 2008 at the Olympia.
-
I was about to make a thread on this and decided to check and see if Ice did it already. Crazy how good he looks here. Rear delts look way sharper and less loaded with oil too. And his back actually looks okay!
-
Sad thing is -- Many names mentioned here are Far wider & Better than Heath,
Yet none have a Mr.O win & Yet Heath has a Hat Full of Them... ::)

Dillet would not beat Heath, nor should he.
I remember this show, reading articles how this was ushering in the new era with him and Wheeler.
They had a photo of Dillet's shadow that looked unreal, as did Dillet himself in a lot of poses. But he looked like complete horseshit from the back, and posed like a retard, which really took away from him.
I'm no fan of the modern era, but Heath would beat him.
-
The original monster freak. I don't think we'll ever see anyone with as crazy genetics as Dillett.
Wrong. This is the original monster freak from way back in 1982 and 1983. Bertil fucking Fox. 22'' guns in your face guy 8)
-
^ no Dillett was freakier than Fox. Fox was massive yes but did not have the crazy Sergio-like shoulder to waist difference like Dillett
-
Dillett was much wider than Bertil
-
Hardly!! Dillett, in his prime, couldn't beat Labrada who was on his way to retiring, much less take on Heath now.
Different judging criteria ..Labrada was retiring because he didn't want to disfigure his physique chasing something like Yates .
WooSHHHHHHHH
