San Francisco may vote on banning male circumcision

Is it permanent mutilation that needs government intervention?
Freedom of religion?
The right of parents to do this to their children?
As a male, would you want the personal choice after age 18?
Would you do it?

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – A group opposed to male circumcision said on Tuesday they have collected more than enough signatures to qualify a proposal to ban the practice in San Francisco as a ballot measure for November elections.

But legal experts said that even if it were approved by a majority of the city's voters, such a measure would almost certainly face a legal challenge as an unconstitutional infringement on freedom of religion.

I heard a guy on the radio talking about this w/a couple radio show hosts.  The circumsion banning advocate said he thinks that the male should make his decision at 18.

Both radio show hosts said they were very grateful their parents made the choice for them when they did (shortly after birth). 

You could maybe add a poll to this thread?

I hate it when a group tries to turn something like this into a crusade.
I am cut big deal.
My son was left uncut, but when he was 3 we had to have him for medical reasons.

from what I've seen on the way it's done seems very very unnecessarily painful to an infant ... if the parents are open to allowing the boy to choose for himself later on then I think that is best

there are plenty of uncircumsized men who are adamant about "things" being more pleasureable

I'm not keen on it being almost "expected" in this country for babies to be done
