Title: Porter Cottrell
Post by: Jr. Yates on March 06, 2006, 12:27:37 PM
What ever happened to him. Did he retire? That one year when he was on stage with Levrone and I think Nasser....he looked really good.

I was at the NOC at the Beacon Theatre in NYC the Night Porter took the overall.  Must have been around 93 or 94?  I'll tell you, though, anyone in attendance would have placed Andreas Munzer in the number 1 spot.  He had the total package--HUGE and R I P P E D.  He blew Cottrell out of the water.

It seemed to me that Porter was almost predetermined to win it.

There was a pretty good interview in Musclemag a few months back...

He got out of the industry because he was not willing to go the the extremes that other BBer's were willing to go in terms of size, AAS usage etc....

Guy had an awesome physique...

I would love to see him return with all the other Senior ppl like Vince, benfatto and Strydom..

I heard he is still a fireman & still lives in Louisvllie, Kentucky. A friend of mine ran into him at a local gym(?) & said he was still in great shape.

Cant remember what Olympia it was, maybe 97. But he kept squinting or winking with one eye throughout his routine. Must've been nerves

I know a guy who met him back in the 90's.  Said he was really down to earth and cool.  Don't know why he only competed for such a short time.

ah, the easy way out. "i dont want to do what the other guys are doing as far as drug use".  such a cop-out.  this guy competed in the 90's when the drugs really took on and did pretty well.

porter was always competitive.  besides, the judges said you have to look like markus ruhl.

From his video he seems like a great guy. Down to earth, kind and humble. You don't need to be a roid raging monster to bodybuild.

He does come off as a very nice guy. I like reading the older flex mags because hes all over them, along with guys like nasser and Dennis Newman.
