Title: Smoking- I seriously want to quit
Post by: Uncle Junior on July 28, 2014, 06:51:04 AM
Currently suffering with Bronchitis coughing and squealing like a seal

Normally smoke around 10-12 a day unless I am drinking or gambling in which case I will literally chain smoke 20-30 at a time.

My normal day to day smoking has gone way up to like 20 a day now due to stress.

It stinks, girls who don't smoke hate it, when you go out with mates who don't smoke it annoys them ...the cancer and shit is the part I actually don't give a fuck about, its the little things.

Wanna quit but just can't imagine myself without a ciggy in my mouth when drinking, playing poker, gambling, working, after gym or when otherwise stressed.

Is this just pointless thinking about quitting?

Any Getbiggers successfully quit? Tips!

I could tell you to try snuss but most of you people think only 1800's red necks use snuss and care too much about other peoples opinions

snuss takes away from me the urge to smoke even a little bit, it has more nicotine than a cigarette

You're a weak bitch. Hope this helps.

Seriously.

I "work" in "medical" industry. I have seen countless retards like you who have smoked 20,30+ years, suffer in agony when they can't breathe and their lungs are turned into charcoal briquettes. Have ZERO sympathy for these fucks.

I actually bought one.

My barber was puffing away on this new type electronic cigarettes which have all kinds of weird and funky flavors, he let me have a toke and I thought hmmmmm....not bad and went out and bought one.

They have nice flavors, like Baileys, Bubble Gum, Capachino  etc, see pic below.

Tried it for a few days, I thought it was ok but was like meh and just kept smoking ciggys as normal.

Used to smoke, went up to 2 and a half packs a day (used to also smoke no filters). I reduced my consumption in a couple of months to 10 a day. And then, I just decided to quit all together. Best decision ever made. I only missed it for a month or so and in certain occasions for a couple of years. Then nothing, never touched it again.

One of my grandads died from lung cancer and I was a kid but had to see him get injected with morphine all the time cos he was terminal so I know all about it.

I am not thinking about the health implications here don't bore me with those please we all fucking know and get it.

I wanna try and quit cos of the little things, like putting off girls that don't smoke, hanging out with gym people and shit and things like that which are more important to me than my long fucking term health.

If  I even get to sixty, seventy or whatever I don't give a fuck cos I would have either been dead by then or offed myself, so its a pointless argument to me.

So lets just keep shit real here for a second.

I used a vaporizer to quit. Sadly I started smoking again 4 months later. My vaporizer should be here today or tomorrow and I'll try again.

Just checked mine says 1.2% nicotine, which the guy told me was like mid strength one for up to 20 a day etc.

It's not even the fucking nicotine I miss, its like the tar and other shit that makes a ciggy a ciggy in my opinion otherwise why wouldn't I just get hooked to like Nicotine patches but it never works like that.

My dad tried to quit using these but said they were so weak he'd have a smoke after puffing away on one of these. He quit eventually just by cutting down by 1 a week until he was only having 1 during his lunch break. After that he said it was very easy to not have one. Though he still has a smoke when drinking or on vacation.
I'm in a similar boat as him, I picked up the habit back in high school and finally dropped it once I graduated university. I still have a couple with drinks (which is a very rare occasion) or when on vacation (again, rare occasion). Otherwise, I really don't get cravings anymore. Even with stress I can find something else to do to de-stress me.

It's going to be a failed attempt if you quit.  You're not going to be able to step foot into a casino without the dying urge to light up. Plus after fucking a nasty prostitute you'll need a cig to get that flavor out of your mouth.

take two snuss pillows and you will feel like you smoked a joint, that's how strong it is, you don't want to smoke ever again.

Granted it's unhealthy too, for the gums, but it's 100x better than smoking and if you brush your teeth your gums will be ok too.

'just quit all together' won't work for everyone,

Remember if you quit something it leaves a void so you need to replace it with something else, so think of something to replace the smoking and if you can go 30 days without doing it you should be fine.

My Dad up and quit one day after 45 yrs of smoking Pall Malls. My brother quit cold turkey after years of smoking. My sister, who has every medical mental issue known to man and who we thought could never quit.. finally quit. I thought that for some people quiting is near impossible until she did it. Used some system that slowly weened her off the nicotine. Still smoke free 10 yrs later. The bottom line is you gotta want to bad enough to do it. It comes from you, nothing anyone says matters. The question is...are you cigarrettes bitch?

Ughhhh dumbass troll.

Not trolling you I don't care if you can't see someone else's perspective than your own.

What I am saying is I am single, I don't have a family and I am not the kind of person who wants to live forever, not everybody does.

It's how I live not how long that is important to me.

Please don't side track the argument here I already know like everyone else about the health implications of smoking so no amount of scare tactics will deter me and simply doesn't work.

The little things like I said which actually do annoy me because they are things that are happening NOW rather than whatever else potentially down the line is why I am toying with the idea of quitting which I probably fucking won't making this thread retarded and useless

man we are all prostitutes with something.

junior will never quit, he needs something to replace the cigarette though because it will kill him, make his dick soft, make him tirred and make him stink and all that will be annoying to his friends. Snuss will take care all of that for him.

I know this was an attempt to poke fun but the fucking irony here is that you are actually completely right because of all those things I subconsciously always associate with smoking.

So it's unimaginable for me to see a whore and not spark up a ciggy before hand, or play in some poker game and not smoke every 10 minutes.

Breaking those associations is the real tough bit for me and its almost like losing part of my already jaded personality.

Here`s a great way to quit smoking when all else fails.

Wrap your pack of butts with a sheet of paper, with two rubber bands.....one band going vertically, the other, horizontially.

Now try your best not to smoke, but when you absouelutely have to light up,unwrap the rubber bands and the paper carefully, then write down the time of day or night of the cig,and your reason for smoking it...........ie.,"Just ate dinner, had a cigarette",etc. etc.,.......whatever the reason may be.

Now,re-wrap said pack and put away until your next cigarette.

Of course you should try to increase the time waited between cigs as long as you can.

Over time,if you stick with it,you will have proof on paper that your cigarette consumption is decreasing in a big way without too much witdhdrawl like symptoms.

This method will make you aware of the fact that 80-90 % of the butts you are smoking are strictly out of habit and not needed as bad physically as you thought they might be.

In fact, because of this realization, you will often put the cig back in the pack and tough it out for a longer duration of time without having one.

This worked for me and quitting cigs was tougher than booze or drugs by a longshot.

you can always accept that you are a jaded personality and not care if your 'friends' are annoyed of your smoking habit. You can spend more time in a casino and smoke every 10 minutes.

You don't care about the health issues of smoking, just that some broad who doesn't smoke wouldn't like that you smoke, and then your friends. But you use whores and play in casinos so that's what you really are.

So no need to quit smoking, just continue enjoying yourself

It's not that I care smoking annoys my friends who don't smoke, it's the fact that it annoys me knowing they are annoyed.

Also with whores I couldn't careless what they think, in fact I enjoy smoking and blowing smoke into a face of a prostitute that doesn't smoke while they are sucking my cock just to piss them off cos I know I can.... so don't get it twisted here.

With regular type girls on the other hand or say gym bunnies I care because it potentially affects my chances of getting into their knickers, again it's about my cock not their comfort levels.

So I think you can see the common trend here, it's always about me, not what others think....not sure if you picked up on that or not but at least now its clear.

well the way you post in general, and what you have posted in this thread I will tell you that you won't stop smoking, you just won't.

I recommend you to try snuss, it made me stop even thinking about cigarettes. And you can try to quit that too, when the snuss is done, don't buy any nicotine products and see how it goes, and if you crave for cigarettes really bad just buy some snuss.

I don't pat on the back like some here, it never works, you just get your ego lifted and feel delighted and then you continue on with your habit.

You have no hope on quitting, just try snuss, doesn't hurt to try. But you will probably still smoke because you are jaded and hopeless about quitting, just a fact.

I started off taking snuff. When I was training to be a barrister we had mandatory dining nights where we would have a formal dinner with judges etc.

The head waiter would go around at the end of the meal with a silver platter with a ram's head that had snuff in it. I liked it and me being me, I decided to get McCrystal's snuff and got addicted within a week or so. Would spend half the time wiping brown dust of my upper lip and every morning would empty my nasal passages down the shower drain gushing out waterfalls of brown mucus and snuff powder.

Here are pics of said ram's head from dining this January, photo we took after meal (pissed by this stage) in the chamber beside dining hall and some snuff I bought in Brazil with an interesting name  ;D

I was a big smoker when I was in my twenties,  Loved my cannabis and tobacco.  I quit at 27, only to take the habit up again at 37, smoked pot and tobacco again for a year and couldn't stand the negative impact on my lungs.  Heavy, heavy flem, sometimes dark green and black in colour.  Bad cough, horrible wheeze so I gave it away.  Stopped the pot and then two months later kicked the tobacco.  That was a few years ago now, best thing I ever did.  I like to think I will never start again, but I learned you can never say never.  But yeah, the way I Feel now, good riddance to the dirty fucking cancer sticks.

I just went cold turkey, sucked for a week, but once the poison was out of my system I was good to go.  I rarely get a craving, sometimes they do happen though at the oddest moments for no particular reason.  Just ignore them and for me they are gone in seconds.

When somebody wants to quit something, they just do it, they don't go and let the internet know before the fact.

Cancer patients, typically, they really want to stop and they do it.

Thread starter is a soft attention whoring twat.

"I want to quit smoking" ( the cock? )

How original.

I'm trying to quit at the moment, smoking cigars not cigarettes so have all those symptoms, spend first couple of hours clearing chest of phlegm. Smoking about a third of what I was just over a week ago, getting more acupuncture on Wednesday so that should help. Just moved house so was fairly stressful but you can always make excuses for not stopping; new apartment doesn't have a balcony which makes smoking more hassle so hope to be off them all together soon.

I don't really believe in quiting. Way to many good and bad moment's, losses and victory's which were accompanied by a cigarette.

I smoked for 5-6 years (1/1.5 pack per day) than quit after an airway infection just like you junior. Two and a half years later biggest meltdown ever due to a nutty preggor girlfriend who went all psycho. Just had to do something destructive instead of smacking the girl. So i went to the nearest gas station and bought a pack. First one tasted DISGUSTING like its your first ever, yet the connections in the brain had an orgasm and said; this was meant to be. Ofcourse the chainsmoking was right around the corner.

That moment i realised it's true what they say; a smoker will always be a smoker when the chips are down.

Yeah before I jumped on melanotan I was white  :o

Yes me on the right, better than giving a thumbs up or pointing to the guy beside me.

When I played World of Warcraft I remember all the Scandinavians were fiends for snuss, I tried it but felt strange keeping that in mouth for extended periods. No way that previous sentence could be edited to sound like dick sucking.

Dude, you are obviously obsessed with the tan look. I didn't even mention you're white. But yeah, you are in that photo but so what, tan is overrated and if you tress for being tan as a man, you're a fucking wanker! Only women and insecure metrosexual twinks are granted to stress for not being able to attend their timely salong during the day, but not real men!

anyway, snuss is STILL BETTER THAN SMOKING! Fiends for snuss... so when a guy smokes every 10 minutes I take it he's a fiend for cigarettes?

I'm sick and tired of people asking for ways to quit smoking, even tho there is only one... quitting cold turkey, without any miracles!

Then they have the nerve to complain of the additional nicotine replacement options how they suck, even tho they take away the cancer, the stinch, the limp dick, and everything else. And you can always try to quit snuss.... or buy more if the urge to smoke rises, but it's still 100000000x healthier than smoking.

snuss if fucking awesome, MMMMH! Double expresso and two pillows under my lip in the morning and I will shit the entire yesterday out of my system :P

I never understood fitness enthusiasts who smoke, drink, or do rec drugs.

Isn't that defeating the purpose of healthy living?

When somebody wants to quit something, they just do it, they don't go and let the internet know before the fact.

Cancer patients, typically, they really want to stop and they do it.

Thread starter is a soft attention whoring twat.

"I want to quit smoking" ( the cock? )

How original.

Change isn't always sudden, some theories like the transtheoretical model suggest their are stages to change, like

1) Precontemplation (Not Ready)-"People are not intending to take action in the foreseeable future, and can be unaware that their behaviour is problematic"
2) Contemplation (Getting Ready)-"People are beginning to recognize that their behaviour is problematic, and start to look at the pros and cons of their continued actions"
3) Preparation (Ready)-"People are intending to take action in the immediate future, and may begin taking small steps toward behaviour change"
4) Action – "People have made specific overt modifications in modifying their problem behaviour or in acquiring new healthy behaviours"
5) Maintenance – "People have been able to sustain action for a while and are working to prevent relapse"
6) Termination – "Individuals have zero temptation and they are sure they will not return to their old unhealthy habit as a way of coping"[nb 2][/li][/list]

Sounds Like the OP is in between the contemplation and preparation stage.

In general, for people to progress they need:

1.   A growing awareness that the advantages (the "pros") of changing outweigh the disadvantages (the "cons")—the TTM calls this decisional balance
2.   Confidence that they can make and maintain changes in situations that tempt them to return to their old, unhealthy behavior—the TTM calls this self-efficacy
3.   Strategies that can help them make and maintain change—the TTM calls these processes of change.

The ten processes include:
o   Consciousness-Raising—increasing awareness via information, education, and personal feedback about the healthy behavior.
o   Dramatic Relief—feeling fear, anxiety, or worry because of the unhealthy behavior, or feeling inspiration and hope when they hear about how people are able to change to healthy behaviors
o   Self-Reevaluation—realizing that the healthy behavior is an important part of who they are and want to be
o   Environmental Reevaluation—realizing how their unhealthy behavior affects others and how they could have more positive effects by changing
o   Social Liberation—realizing that society is more supportive of the healthy behavior
o   Self-Liberation—believing in one’s ability to change and making commitments and recommitments to act on that belief
o   Helping Relationships—finding people who are supportive of their change
o   Counter-Conditioning—substituting healthy ways of acting and thinking for unhealthy ways
o   Reinforcement Management—increasing the rewards that come from positive behavior and reducing those that come from negative behavior
o   Stimulus Control—using reminders and cues that encourage healthy behavior as substitutes for those that encourage the unhealthy behavior.

I finally admitted to my self that the same dose of pot takes more of your oxygen uptake than a cigarette, but it doesn't have decease inducing chemicals in it so I don't mind enjoying it every now and then. I need a vaporizer

I purchased a vaporiser but it tended to leak and I just couldn't embrace it, just felt like something was missing.  Returned to the pipe.  I also used to cook it up, used to make cannabis butter and cook with it, put it on my toast etc.  I used to get real fucked up doing that, like seriously STONED!.

I hear you on the nicotine thing, it is all the other shit that gives the horrible coughing, wheeze in lungs etc. I still find it worrying how e-cigarettes are allowed to be advertised as sexy and cool, packaged exotically and sold without any regulation. Nice introduction for teenagers to the world of nicotine products.

Stopping isn't easy - smoking is one of the greatest hobbies ever.
You have to be strong and just stop... all or nothing for most people.
A few maintenance cigarettes are only allowed if you do not fall back into your old loop of overdoing it.
If that's the case you have to stop - totally.

try this. purchase cannabis, lets say... I don't know... 10gs? well maybe even 20gs just to make sure. Then go buy a vodka bottle, put the flowers/sticks/leaves in there. Then close the bottle and let it be for 6 months. Don't let any air in that bottle and don't expose it to any light.

Then after 6 moths open it up and filter up the cannabis vodka to another bottle or just enjoy it from there if you like 'fruity' vodka shots. Take that bottle with you if you hit the beach, some picnic areas and offer a drink to a nice girl... enjoy the show :D... or you can just invite your friends in or something, let me tell you, that is crazy fun  :P

I agree but this is a stereotype and not everybody that enjoys a joint behaves in that irritating fashion. I got caught up in smoking when I was in the military, but I quit successfully in year 2000 by doing Nicorette gum, within 3 weeks my jaw was aching from chewing (I never was a regular gum chewer before), and the terrible smell of people smoking in groups nauseated me!!!
I have never gone back even once, thank God!!!

I seriously don't understand how ppl can be addicted to stimulants (nicotine, meth, coke, etc... ).

stuff like booze, opiates, benzos, ghb, and barbiturates I can see, since there's physical withdrawal (and risk of seziures/death with some), but with nicotine/coke/meth, it's not like you're shaking and getting sick if you don't have it.

The items you describe have both physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms so I wouldn't down play the psychological it can often be just as bad if not worse than physical withdrawal symptoms in various addictions in my opinion.

Tips!

I smoked for 11 years, starting when I was 18 years old. From that first day. I averaged three packs a day. It made me feel like shit in the mornings. One day when I was 29 years old I decided to quit smoking. Have not had so much as one drag off a cigarette since then. All you have to do is make up your mind, the rest is easy. In about two weeks all the affects of addiction are gone and you lungs are on the road to recovery.

My mom chain smoked all of her life. She died from emphysema when she was 61 years old. She looked at least 20 years older then she was. Smoking wrecks your health and your looks. It also is counter productive to bodybuilding and fitness. You'll be surprised at the gains you'll make one you decide to stop smoking.

37? Wtf I always thought you were a teenager.

Surprised no on has brought up CHANTIX! Sounds like you lack will power, like me, so you yourself, will fail at quitting on your own. Hopefully you have health insurance; simply go to your doctor and ask for Chantix - you will get a 3 month supply (no copay). You're allowed to smoke normal during the first week of taking the medication as it builds in the system. (By the end of the 3rd day, I legitimately stopped smoking, wasn't even aware I was smoking less until I saw how easy week 2 on the drug was when you are told to stop smoking. I have been completely off cigarettes since I took Chantix. I only took the Chantix for 2 months rather than the 3 - reason being, I was experiencing decent bloat and constipation on the drug - nothing as dramatic as suicidal dreams or depression, but I suppose everyone is different. I also felt like I didn't need the 3rd month of treatment.

Chantix targets the nicotinic receptors in the brain, attaches to them, and blocks nicotine from reaching them.

Hardest part in quitting is making a doctor's appointment.

Tips? Stop smoking? That is only and most valuable tip anyone can give. JUST STOP SMOKING! It is simple as that. I was smoker between 1978 - 1988, and then I stop. Just like that. Now I smoke some cigars, like they should be smoked, means no inhaling. According those symptoms, you need to see a doctor, because you have an asthma or COPD. If you squeal like a seal when you exhale, it is probably asthma and it will need treatment. You don't mind about lung cancer, which has fatality more than 70%? That means you are just too stupid to be alive. Have a nice day, you moron..

I agree. From my experience, the hard part was simply making a decision not to smoke anymore. Once I did that, the rest was pretty much a piece of cake. Of course back in the days when I quit smoking, I don't believe there were any "crutches" to help folks get over the nicotine high. Since those symptoms only lasted about a week or two, getting over them wasn't that hard. It actually helped me to realize how much I'd let cigarette smoking control my life.

You're either a smoker or you aren't.  Figure out which it is and do it.

I quit after about 5 years smoking. Partly because I work in a hospital and I treat people with lung cancer and COPD all the time. Lung cancer is not actually so bad, COPD is much worse; sapping away your lungs until there isn't enough left for you to do anything except sit there gasping for air. I'm not proud of this, but it must of taken me 4 or 5 goes to actually quit properly.

Just keep trying would be my advice (personally I do like the e-cigarettes - the highest nicotine content liquids are harsh enough to make you feel like you are smoking so the transition was quite painless).

you mean that the train has left the station, that you coughing out a tea spoon of blood is a real sign of a lung cancer in the near future?

well fine then, might as well continue smoking, no point to stop now.

Allow me to explain. "When the seagulls following the trawler its because they think sardines will be thrown in to the sea"

Is a quote Eric Cantona made in a press conference.

It followed major controversy in a football game after he was sent off with a red card and as he was walking off the pitch one of the fans hurled major abuse at him and Eric decided to kung fu kick the fan in the head in front of everyone and the cameras.

The quote was his explanation for it to the press.

It basically meant fuck off I don't care what you think you are a bunch of cu nts.

The quote starts @ 0.39

I have had Bronchitis several times in the past, it usually happens when I chain smoke to much which I have been lately due to lots of fucking drama.

I also have Rhinitis from snorting too much coke in my twenties and my sinuses are very sensitive and I get hayfever a lot.

I also broke my nose 3 times fighting which is why its so big, ugly and why I am a virgin.

I ALWAYS cough up blood after about of Bronchitis, I had chest xray and CT scan in the past and always it was nothing.

Probably means shit is clearing up or too much hard coughing makes blood vessells pop in the lungs.

I usually cough up blood for about 7-10 days after and then it goes away.

So that's why I am not worried about it and will unfortunately for stay and post on get big longer.

Thanks Simon, it might be worth a try, I was going to make an appointment with my GP, I think I would like to go down the route of some of these new miracle drugs which are supposed to make you quit smoking, despite possible side's etc.

Cheers

I've heard that the anti-depressant Wellbutrin can be helpful to people trying to kick addictions. I've taken Wellbutrin for depression in the past. Since I didn't have any addictions, that wasn't a feature I personally experienced. http://www.rxlist.com/wellbutrin-drug.htm (http://www.rxlist.com/wellbutrin-drug.htm)

Just coughed up about tea spoon of blood.......yayyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Thank fuck I hope this sign I am going to finally fucking die.

Not really. If you really have an asthma (Asthma bronchiale) and you have bronchitis, you lungs will bleed if you use something like aspirin. Quit all which include aspirin (acetyl salicylic acid) and your lung stops bleeding in few days. If not, feel free to start arrangements for funerals.

I smoked roughly a pack a day throughout most of my 20's. I quit not long after 30, almost a decade and a half ago. I can barely stand to be around smoke anymore.

It was 90%+ mental. My body was begging me to quit. I just decided it was time to stop and did. I used patches for a couple of weeks and drank lots of water. There are the psychological triggers - DRIVING, drinking, screwing, waking up in the middle of the night / very early morning to piss whilst half asleep and wanting to light up, etc.

I gained a lot of muscle and some strength after quitting, enjoyed much improved wind and endurance, and food suddenly tasted so much better. The only drawback was going from a very lean physique to a bulkier one with more fat and water. Of course some of that is probably due to aging.  :-\

I can only imagine how hard it must be to quit smoking, it would be mentally as hard as quitting food for the normal person.

Uncle Jr.,

Are you kidding about being a virgin?

Long story made short, you should be able to score with a smoker chick sans any problems whatsoever, particularly when you're paying for the pussy.  All whores smoke as a rule of thumb, so I don't get your problem.

I had a similar experience. I gained weight when I quit smoking. In my case, I was happy about this. Eventually, the weight gain evened out. I suspect because food tastes better, we tend to eat more when at first after quitting smoking.

Tips!

I quit 16 years ago.

The thing you have to realize is that it is normal for it to take multiple tries to quit, and you just can't allow yourself to give up if you backslide.  Just quit again.  You can do it, and eventually you will.

I think it's mainly hormonal. Nicotine inhibits estrogen. A few months after quitting, I even kinda grew little moobs that eventually went away. But that was a small price to pay - quitting was well worth whatever shortterm discomforts I experienced.

Another thing I did when I quit was to constantly have toothpicks, breath mints, etc handy. I still to this day eat breath mints constantly, rinse my mouth frequently, etc since quitting. They're better habits to have than lighting up.
