Omar Felt More Accepted in Kenyan Refugee Camp Than in U.S.

The notorious freshman member of the U.S. House of Representatives plays the victim card.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the controversial freshman member of the U.S. House of Representatives who has a habit of indulging in anti-Semitic stereotypes, complains about feeling marginalized in a land of white privilege. In an interview with Vogue Arabia, Rep. Omar, a refugee originally from Somalia who became a U.S. citizen nearly 20 years ago, waxed nostalgic about her days in a Kenyan refugee camp. She spent four years there as a child before resettling in the United States. At the refugee camp, Omar said, she could express her full identity. She felt free to be herself, living amongst like-minded people who looked and believed as she did. “When you’re a kid and you’re raised in an all-black, all- Muslim environment, nobody really talks to you about your identity,” Omar said. “You just are. There is freedom in knowing that you are accepted as your full self. So the notion that there is a conflict with your identity in society was hard at the age of 12.”
Omar is a perfect example of the entitled individual always willing to play the victim card. She and her family had been living in what one Somalian inhabitant of a refugee camp in Kenya called an "open prison." It was too dangerous for Omar and her family to return to war-torn Somalia. At the same time, Kenya, Omar’s host country as a child, had no interest in integrating Somalian refugees like herself into Kenyan society. It was the United States that rescued Omar from the desperate conditions and hopelessness she was facing in her refugee camp. It was the United States that allowed her family to seek asylum to live in the United States. Her family eventually moved to Minneapolis and lived amongst a large Somali-American population.
After Omar was elected to serve in the United States Congress at the relatively young age of 37, she ran into the civil rights icon Representative John Lewis (D-Georgia). She gushed, according to her own account of the encounter, “Sir, I read about you in middle school, and you’re here in the flesh, and I get to be your colleague. There are moments — every single minute — that I’ve been here where I almost want to pinch myself.” Omar’s request for a seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee was granted. She has retained the seat despite her repeated anti-Semitic outbursts.
In short, Omar is anything but marginalized. To the contrary, America laid out a welcome mat for her, which it had no legal or moral obligation to do. She rose to become a full-fledged member of the American “People’s House,” as the House of Representatives is sometimes called. Omar should be grateful for the opportunities afforded her since she arrived in the United States. Instead, she acts like a spiteful child.
Omar has accused American Jews who support Israel of foreign allegiances and dual loyalties, when in fact she is the one to be concerned about. Omar has cozied up to Somalian President, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed (known as “Farmaajo”), who was elected in 2017 in an election process beset by rampant corruption. Omar did not lavish praise on the Somalian president to help the beleaguered Somalian people whom she had left behind for a better life in America. Shortly after Omar served as a keynote speaker at a community event in Minneapolis celebrating Farmaajo's election, her brother in law, Mohamed Keynan, just happened to secure an appointment as permanent secretary to Hassan Ali Khayre, whom Farmaajo had handpicked to serve as Somalia’s prime minister. With such a high-level family connection within the Somali government, it is fair to ask whether Ilhan Omar will have dual loyalties and foreign allegiances of her own that might prompt her to use her access to classified information as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee to illicitly help the Somali government.
According to Attorney Sean M. Bigley, partner at Bigley Ranish LLP, a firm specializing in federal security clearance defense, “High-level familial connections in the Somali government would be an almost guaranteed ticket to the unemployment line for any government employee who required security clearance as a condition of employment. Members of Congress don't need a security clearance to view classified information, but that perhaps makes this all the more alarming and a potentially serious national security risk. There are a lot of unanswered questions here. I think Americans ought to rightfully be concerned.”
While complaining that life in America under President Trump “is an everyday assault,” Omar ignores the real assaults on civilians in Somalia perpetrated by the security forces of the government for which her brother in law has been working. “Security forces unlawfully killed and wounded civilians during infighting over land, control of roadblocks, and disarmament operations, particularly in Mogadishu and Lower Shabelle,” Human Rights Watch said in its 2019 World Report. “In December 2017, security forces demolished dozens of informal settlements, including humanitarian infrastructure, without sufficient warning or providing residents with alternative settlements, leaving around 30,000 people homeless.” And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Even Omar’s own brother in law at least appears troubled. On March 4, he tweeted: “Road to 2020/21 and national issues in #Somalia - current political agreement (4.5) is decaying, yet main governance systems/structures are not in place: constitution is incomplete, justice system poor, security absent, political parties not there...what gives?!”
Ilhan Omar is not standing up for her own people in Somalia, who continue to be ruled by a corrupt government of which her brother in law has been a part. Yet this hypocrite attacks her adopted country the United States, as well as Israel, with abandon. If she misses her refugee camp in Kenya so much, perhaps she could do more for humanity by going back to Kenya and helping those still languishing in open prisons there. Or she could return to her homeland of Somalia and join her brother in law in its government. Omar is a squanderer of the privilege she was given to come to the United States in the first place and a potential security risk to this country at that.

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar described the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on the United States in a nonspecific way during a recent speech to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
Omar delivered the keynote speech at a fundraiser for CAIR in late March and urged Muslim Americans to “raise hell” and “make people uncomfortable.” In one part of her speech that surfaced on Twitter this week, Omar described the 9/11 attacks in a peculiar way.
“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” Omar said.
CAIR has notable ties to Islamic terrorist groups and was listed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) as an unindicted co-conspirator in funneling millions of dollars to Hamas.
Omar’s speech to CAIR in March sparked a pro-Israel protest, wherein hundreds of protesters descended upon the venue and attacked Omar for her comments that many have perceived to be anti-Semitic

Robin Simcox, a terrorism and national security expert at The Heritage Foundation, told Fox News that Minnesota’s unique demographic density of Somalis creates favorable conditions for broad radicalization and frequent terror recruitment. Representative Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) will introduce a resolution this week declaring support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to elevate the Palestinian negotiating position vis-a-vis Israel through an international pressure campaign.
The announcement comes on the same day that the House Foreign Affairs Committee, on which Omar sits, plans to vote on another non-binding resolution explicitly condemning the BDS movement as an attempt to “undermine the two state solution” by demanding “concessions of one party alone and encourag[ing] Palestinians to reject negotiations in favor of international pressure.”
The anti-BDS resolution further notes that the movement’s founder, Omar Bharghouti, has openly dismissed the possibility of reaching any settlement that allows the state of Israel to retain its sovereignty.
Omar is expected to cast the lone vote against the anti-BDS resolution, further highlighting the divide between herself and the panel’s older, more-established lawmakers, who have condemned her comments about Israel in the past.

The Campaign Finance Board discovered she filed tax returns stating she was married to one man when, in fact, she was married to another. The revelation was a part of an investigation into allegations that Omar had misused campaign funds.
Omar agreed to repay $3,500 and pay a $500 fine, but the controversy over her tax filings continues.
When it comes to the issue of filing joint married tax returns with one man while legally married to another, the only statement the Minnesota congresswoman has made is through a campaign spokesperson.
“All of Rep. Omar’s tax filings are fully compliant with all applicable tax law,” the spokesperson said.

The traitor class has been particularly vocal ever since Qasem Soleimani was killed. The ever-winsome Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) tweeted Friday: “We are outraged the president would assassinate a foreign official, possibly setting off another war without Congressional authorization and has zero plan to deal with the consequences.” Wait, what? Soleimani was a “foreign official”? Isn’t Ilhan Omar aware that Soleimani was no staid and stolid Iranian “official” sitting bored behind a desk somewhere in Tehran, but was responsible for the deaths of over 600 U.S. soldiers in Iraq? Yes, she does know, and clearly she doesn’t care.
We know that she knows because she adds in the tweet quoted above: “But of course you know that.” She was addressing Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), responding to his tweet that said: “According the the [sic] Obama Department of Defense, Qasem Soleimani was a terrorist directly responsible for the murder of over 500 US service men & women. Why are congressional Dems outraged that he’s finally dead?”
As it turns out, Cruz was lowballing the actual figure of the U.S. personnel Soleimani had killed, but since Omar was responding to his tweet, she clearly knows that Soleimani wasn’t some milquetoast bureaucrat caught up in the president’s rabid and unrestrained “Islamophobia.”
Nor does Omar’s insistence that she is only “outraged” because Trump acted without congressional authorization stand scrutiny. As Matt Margolis noted here at PJ Media, Alan Dershowitz, who knows a bit about constitutional law, explained that “there’s no doubt” that Soleimani “fit the description of ‘combatant.’ He [was] a uniformed member of an enemy military who was actively planning to kill Americans; American soldiers and probably, as well, American civilians.” The attack was consequently “legally justified.”

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Ilhan Omar (D.-Minn.) gave a speech on the House floor citing what she called the “hypocrisy” of “religious fundamentalists,” who are seeking to prohibit or restrict abortion.
“Religious fundamentalists are currently trying to manipulate the State laws in order to impose their beliefs on an entire society, all with complete disregard for voices and the rights of American women,” she said in this speech that was delivered on May 22.
“This isn't about religious morality or conviction,” she said, “because we have seen time and time again those who talk about their faith and want to push policies because of their faith are the ones who simply are caught with the hypocrisy of not living it out in their personal lives.”

Ms. Omar: Mr. Speaker, I rise today to defy the horrifying attacks happening against women's reproductive rights all across this country.
Religious fundamentalists are currently trying to manipulate the State laws in order to impose their beliefs on an entire society, all with complete disregard for voices and the rights of American women.
The recent efforts like those in Alabama and Georgia are only the latest in a long history of efforts to criminalize women for simply existing and to punish us when we don't conform to their attempts to control us. And a new proposal in Texas would go as far as to threaten women who obtain an abortion with capital punishment.
If that were being proposed by any other country, we would be calling it a dangerous violation of human rights. But because it is happening here with the support of the ultraconservative religious right, we call it religious freedom. It is simply unthinkable.
But this anti-choice movement isn't only unjust, it is dangerous because history has proven that when abortion is criminalized, the number of abortions do not simply go down. The number of deaths and injuries to women increase.
Let's just be honest. For the religious right, this isn't simply about their care or concern for life. If they cared about or were concerned about children, then they would be concerned about the children who are being detained and those who are dying in camps across our borders or the children who are languishing in hunger and facing homelessness.
This isn't about religious morality or conviction, because we have seen time and time again those who talk about their faith and want to push policies because of their faith are the ones who simply are caught with the hypocrisy of not living it out in their personal lives.
I just remember recently, not too long ago, a Republican Congressman who had to retire, Tim Murphy, because he asked his mistress to abort their baby while pushing for a ban on abortion.
Or I remember the anti-LGBT rights Republican, Larry Craig, who was found soliciting sex in a bathroom in a Minneapolis airport.
I am frustrated every single time I hear people speaking about their faith and pushing that on to other people, because we know those so-called religious politicians, when it comes to their life and their choices, they want to talk about freedom, but when it comes to other people's lives and other people's choices, then they want to talk about religion.
I feel that we must point out how ironic it is that women now are facing these challenges to their freedom in the week that we are marking the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.
How can it be that an entire century has passed, and we are still forced to fight for our rights as women, as human beings, and as Americans?
This should outrage every single person. It certainly outrages me, and we can no longer stand for it.
So today I ask every woman in this country no matter her age, her race, or her political affiliation to stand with me--to stand with us--to stand up and tell those who challenge our voice, our place, and our right to decide for ourselves to not be silent, to speak up and to reclaim their right to choose.

Ilhan Omar's Sad, Tawdry Affair That Led to Her Divorce

Ilhan Omar has not been very forthcoming about her marriages or her love life. This is understandable for any politician.
But for Omar, questions continue to swirl around not only her ex-husband, Ahmed Hirsi, but also her lover, Tim Mynett. This is especially relevant after Omar paid Mynett's consulting company half a million dollars in 2019.
According to the Daily Mail, Mynett had been married to a 55-year-old woman before divorcing her in August 2019. In divorce papers filed by Dr. Beth Mynett, she claimed the 38-year-old Mynett informed her in April of his affair and moved out the next day.
Ahmed Hirsi had long suspected that Omar, 39, was cheating on him with married Tim Mynett but the proof came when he caught the hijab-wearing congresswoman in a state that no Muslim woman would expect to be with a man who is not her husband.
Two separate sources confirmed the account to DailyMail.com, saying that Hirsi was left ‘angry and humiliated’ by the encounter.
‘He suspected she was cheating but she kept telling him he was paranoid,’ one source said.
‘He told her he wanted to move down to D.C. to be with her but she insisted he should stay in Minneapolis with the children. Eventually he surprised her down there and his worst fears were confirmed.
‘It wasn’t that he actually caught them in bed but they were clearly in a romantic situation.’
Hirsi and Omar's family apparently came to an agreement about some kind of settlement. In exchange for a large sum of cash, Hirsi would keep his mouth shut about everything -- his marriage to Omar in 2002, their divorce in 2008, their remarriage in 2009, and the whole, tawdry affair involving the married Mynett and anything Hirsi may know about their business relationships.
The sources say the families of Hirsi and Omar hammered out a financial settlement that would give Hirsi tens of thousands of dollars over several years but only if he did not speak publicly about the marriage breakdown.
One source said the figure was as high as $250,000 over six years. Hirsi did not return DailyMail.com requests for comment.
Soon after the agreement was reached last year Hirsi, 40, traded in his old Nissan Maxima for a BMW 528i, which sells for $54,000 new.
Just 37 days after his divorce from Omar, Hirsi remarried. I guess he wasn't hurting too much following the discovery of the affair.
Most Americans don't care about their representatives' love lives. But in the Somali community in Minneapolis, the congresswoman's affair with Mynett has not gone unnoticed. Indeed, it may threaten her career.
Somalis in Minneapolis say Omar has lost significant support in their community since her 2018 victory. Much of that is due to her affair with Mynett.
Her decision to hold the first in a series of ‘Happy Hours with Ilhan’ at a Minneapolis distillery on Thursday evening added to the distrust. The event attracted around 100 followers, but there was a distinct lack of Somalis in the audience.
She's being challenged by another Somali who is slightly less left-wing and talks up her cultural sins in her appearances. Caucuses will be held on February 25 and given the strong leftward tilt of the district, the winner of that contest will likely be going to Washington.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said on Capitol Hill Thursday that people should accept that American power comes from racism and that “our history is built on the oppression of black bodies.”
“From slavery to Jim Crow to redlining to mass incarceration to voter suppression, racism is part of the foundation of American power,” Omar said at an panel discussion she hosted focused on “racial justice.”
Omar began he remarks by quoting activist Angela Davis, who just happened to be among Time magazine’s 100 Women of the Year, published on Thursday.
“In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist,” Omar said. “We must be anti-racist.”
“Angela Davis spoke those words nearly 50 years ago, but they continue to echo today,” Omar said.
“Our task as organizers is not only to all out the specific incidences of racism,” Omar said. “It is to recognize that our history is built on the oppression of black bodies.”
Like the panelists at the event, titled Five Reasons to #ProtectBlackDissent, Omar said blacks have been targeted by the FBI, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X.
Omar also referenced Fred Hampton, a leader of the Chicago Black Panthers who was killed in a police raid in 1969.
And this targeting continues today, Omar claimed.
“We might think this type of surveillance was a thing of the past, but as William Faulkner said, ‘The past is never dead. It’s not even past,’” Omar said.
Omar commented on the purpose of the panel discussion, including calling for the FBI to revoke its “Black Identity Extremist” terrorism category and end its “Iron Fist” program, which is designed to “target department resources on spying, surveilling, and investigating black activists, including through undercover agents,” according to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Ilhan Omar has paid new husband’s consulting firm $878,000, filings show
Rep. Ilhan Omar has continued quietly funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to her new husband’s consulting film, including a $189,000 windfall in March — just weeks after they announced they had tied the knot, campaign data shows.
The payments between the Minneapolis Democratic congresswoman and Tim Mynett prompted at least one ethics complaint in 2019 after The Post first revealed allegations — made by Mynett’s then-wife in her divorce filing — that Omar was having an affair with the member of her political consulting team, who was at the time married to another woman. Omar was married to her second husband at the time.
But that doesn’t appear to have stopped the now-married couple, with Mynett’s E Street Group collecting $292,814.99 from his wife’s campaign this year for digital advertising, fundraising consulting and research services, according to the Federal Election Commission filings.
In total, Mynett has received a whopping $878,930.65 from Omar’s campaign since he began working for her in 2018, raising eyebrows among watchdogs and political law experts who say the practice is rife with cronyism.
The majority of those payments were made after the Somali-born lawmaker’s victory in the solidly Democratic district in the November 2018 midterm elections.
Omar is by far the E Street Group’s biggest client, according to Open Secrets data, with nearly one in every three of Omar’s campaign dollars going to her alleged lover’s firm as of last August, according to the Washington Examiner.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., continues to dish out six-figure payments to her husband's firm, which has now received more than $1 million from her campaign this cycle.
Federal Election Commission records released Tuesday afternoon show that Omar's campaign funneled $228,384.93 last quarter to the E Street Group, a D.C.-based consulting firm run by the congresswoman's husband, Tim Mynett. The payments, predominantly for digital and fundraising services, bring the total that Omar's campaign has sent to Mynett's firm to just over $1 million for the 2020 cycle.

Federal Election Commission records released Tuesday afternoon show that Omar's campaign funneled $228,384.93 last quarter to the E Street Group, a D.C.-based consulting firm run by the congresswoman's husband, Tim Mynett. The payments, predominantly for digital and fundraising services, bring the total that Omar's campaign has sent to Mynett's firm to just over $1 million for the 2020 cycle.

Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s 2020 campaign contributed to nearly 80% of the total political payments her husband's consulting firm received ahead of the November election, according to federal filings.
E Street Group, owned by Omar's husband Tim Mynett and entrepreneur Will Hailer, received more than $3.7 million in campaign spending over the course of the 2020 election cycle, filings show.
Omar's campaign contributed more than $2.9 million to that total, The Washington Free Beacon first reported, citing Federal Election Commission filings. The congresswoman's contributions to her husband's firm made up just over 78% of E Street Group's total payments between January 2019 and November 2020.
Neither Omar's communications director nor E Street Group responded to inquiries from Fox News.
Omar pledged to sever ties with the firm following her reelection, but before doing so, her campaign paid E Street Group $138,000, filings show. The firm has also received nearly $200,000 from Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash.
The Minnesota congresswoman pledged in mid-November that she was cutting ties with the firm, and the payments were made before that, although they were not made public until the latest FEC filings were released in December.
Omar told The New York Times in September that cutting ties with the firm would be a "stupid thing to do."
