Title: Thoughts on volume for this...
Post by: Krankenstein on August 02, 2012, 11:54:13 AM
Ok, I managed 1 1/2 week on a push/pull/legs and said fuck it.

If I was to do something like this:

Mon: Chest/Back/Ab
Tue: Legs/Calves
Wed: off
Thurs (am): Shoulder/Bi/Tri
Fri: Chest/Back
Sat: Legs/Calves

What are your thoughts on volume per day?  My thoughts are like this:

My monday and tuesday would be heavier weights coming off my Sunday cheat day, so maybe 6 - 12 reps., Fri / sat would be higher reps 12 - 15/20

Before worrying about volume or rep range I'd focus on the structure of the routine. Your training legs the day after back if you plan on deadlifting or heavy rowing I'd seperate them. Also on Thursday shoulders, bis, and tris after being working followed by chest and back on friday. Chest training will be comprised due to sore shoulders and triceps. Not only will your training poundages be down but this could set you up for injury. I would suggest training everything once  a week.

Try it out and see how it works for you.  I used to do a 3 day split because I lifted very heavy.  Then I went more moderate to a 4 day.  Now I do a 6 day routine and love it.  Gotta experiment and see what works for you.  Same for rep range, sets, etc.   8)
