In today's world being honest is an unforgivable sin.
Hmmm, true but...it's a bit more complicated.
1. People can and should be free to say anything they desire regardless of who it may offend.
2. BUT, when you are representing (or working for ) a company or organization , it's different.
In this situation you are held RESPONSIBLE by the organization for your words.
You can't assume absolute free speech when working for a network or corporation.
A cooperate network needs to sell advertisement time on air.
The more popular the show is, the more people watch and the more valuable the ad time.
Being edgy and controversial is fine UNLESS it pissed off too many potential customers of your sponsors.
This is why CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC etc , all have some bias when reporting the news.
EVERY news show answers to some corporate sponsors.
