A full second elapsed before the penny dropped. When It did, the theater exploded in a barrage of boos. And worse! The fallout rained right through the further announcements that Platz and Dickerson had placed second and third respectively.

"Oh no! Oh no! That sonofabitch Arnold's done it to us again!" Amidst the booing and hissing and cursing, it's likely no one in the audience actually heard Len Boslin declare Franco Columbu winner of the 1981 Olympia. Certainly Joe Weider didn't. Right after the announcement that Callender placed fourth, Weider rose from his front row seat, saying as he headed out of the theater, "I want no part of this.... No one's getting me up on that stage."

from the upper abs down platz had one of the best bodies ever amazin abs and legs but gentically his shoulders were real bad and makes him look so bootom and midheavy.

That is a mighty large nipple Franco has going on there... Man had an amazing back and sick chest development, but in no way was that Olympia his best and Platz deserved the win.

Callender for the win in 81. Theres not a lot of pics of 81 so Roy Doesn't really get his due but that year, like Padilla and Platz, he was insane. His conditioning was close enough to Padilla but totally outsized him. He had the second best lower body next to Platz minus calves. Probably the best upper body. He had it all. Upper body, lower body, size, conditioning.  Everyone else had a noticeable weakness.  Padilla too small, Platz imbalanced, Franco and Dickerson both had noticeable weak body parts and injuries.

Callender should Have been the 81 O champ and its not even close in my opinion.
