I see no need to do it...
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4242477/

I do cardio to keep my heart strong, not to try to burn bodyfat.
So "fasted cardio" to me, is pointless. For otehrs w/ different goals (prep) maybe it makes sense for them.
But todays fitness society, with all the buzz-words, is hilarious. (HIIT, TUT, steady-state, fasted, etc).  ::)

This morning woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head, had a cup of coffee, worked out and rode my bike about 5 miles without eating.

Having another coffee but still haven't eaten and it's almost 10AM.

I pretty much always workout in the morning before eating.  Just have coffee.

Cardio?  Boring.  Rather ride my bike outside.  In the winter I might do some intervals on an Airdyne.

Cardio for weight loss?  Waste of time.  Just skip those Oreos.

Interesting study. I wonder why it was only focused on women?

I never tried fasted cardio, but i tried working out in a fasted state many times.

It was a horrible experience.

The best way for me to lose bodyfat was just dieting for a month or two.

Just reduce the amount you eat.

I see no reason to do fasted cardio, seems like a stupid idea IMO.

I've fasted until 6pm some days and then did cardio

Awful. Legs felt like cement.

If I run first thing in the morning I don’t eat simply because I don’t want to deal any digestive issues but other than that I see no value in it.

It's like anything - your body will adapt.

I've played baseball, done cardio, lifted, etc all fasted, not by design, just happenstance at times.

No big deal.

But I won't dismiss it like everyone here.  I think there's benefit.  If I was leaning out, I'd do an hour of steady state work before my first meal.

It provides some leeway if you're eating too much i find.

Over last Christmas I upped the cardio (1 to 1.5hrs steady elliptical first thing) whilst eating the farm and my weight didn't move at all over the 3 weeks

Spending 1.5 hours of your day on an elliptical?

Waste of your life...unless you are able to post on Getbig while doing so.

I don’t believe in fasted cardio but I will say I have more energy to lift and train when I am not full and bloated digesting food. I prefer to train closer to empty although not fully empty

I think a lot depends on what you´ve eaten the night before.

Like 90% of what trainers and diet coaches say, this turns out to be some "bro science" someone just invented to stand out from the pack regardelss of whether it worked or not.

The articel says no difference:  These findings indicate that body composition changes associated with aerobic exercise in conjunction with a hypocaloric diet are similar regardless whether or not an individual is fasted prior to training."

12 words is all you need:  Lift consistently and progessively heavier.  Dov't overtrain.  Eat big, but not slop.

Why torture yourself when you can just eat less?

I get to the gym at 5:30 AM each day (the days I go). So the early AM thing is OK for me.
I like it getting it out of the way w/ out any other daily distraction.
When I retire, I'll change it up and go later in the day, maybe like 7 AM.  :o

Just like most things in bodybuilding, it’s splitting hairs. The most important thing is actually doing it and the adherence to it. Whatever works for that particular person is the correct answer.
