Phoenix Jones
In 2009 the man who later became phoenix Jones said his son was injured after phoenix had his car stolen. He said people watched it happen and did nothing to try and help. This made phoenix so saddened and angry that he decided to take it upon himself to clean up his city
Phoenix Wasn’t as equipped as Batman, he didn’t have all the fancy equipment and limitless money, he had pepper spray, handcuffs, a first aid kit, stun baton and a homemade suit with a bulletproof vest and stab plating.
His best equipment though was his training. Unlike other vigilantes who tried the same thing and constantly lost, he was an actual professional level MMA fighter who had previously fought somebody who became a ufc champion.
Over the following few months he would continue as a vigilante. He would operate without being arrested due to him typically acting in self defense And having public opinion on his side
He would patrol the streets in his suit at night and whenever he saw an altercation or drug deal he would step in and start taunting the criminal party until they attacked him then he’d fight back is how he was typically described as fighting.
This was heavily broadcast and he became a local celebrity.
In fact his story had reached so many people that he was able to be involved with likeminded people who also adopted masks and fought on the streets with different gimmicks like King Shizzo, Uncle Joon, Grimek et al
One was a medic who would patrol the streets and help heal any wounded civilians or his teammates
One was a self proclaimed ninja (Hankenstein) who would do reconnaissance and scope out high crime area and record criminal activities
One guy (Venom Vince Versace) even made gauntlets that would stun criminals he hit (although I was younger when I learned this)
Phoenix was the leader though, and he would eventually marry a fellow superhero called Purple Reign
A victim of domestic abuse, she adopted a superhero persona of Purple Reign “queen of Seattle”She would primarily focus on women who were victims of domestic abuse, trying to rescue them.
The group grew so big and famous that it would seem these fun and useful vigilantes would always be around.
But if there’s one thing THE BOYS has taught us… never believe in your heroes.
Everything was fine until his group started Inspiring the wrong type of people. The people who were dressing up as vigilantes now we’re just beating the fuck out of people they assumed were criminals without any trial.
Several members were brought in on assault charge for assaulting innocent people who were just looking sketchy.
That coupled along with several brushes with death caused something to snap in phoenix.
He was stabbed at but his suit protected it, and a bullet was just barely stopped by his vest.
Then phoenix lost his mojo, he even got his nose broken by two men supposedly.
That set the reality of how dangerous it was to phoenix.
He wasn’t a super powerful hero, he was just a man trying to do good.
Obviously like what happens with any armed person when they get scared, phoenix started getting increasingly unnecessary with his punishment
