Fuck that shit man, after being a hardcore PC gamer since I was 12 (now 31) I'm done with this shit, tired of having to upgrade parts every 3 weeks because the next gen game decides to triple the spec requirements of last month's hit game, this shit was getting ridiculous, at one point in the late 90's (when counterstrike was huge) guys were changing video cards like underwear, at least with a console you get peace of mind, no lag no crashes no glitches/reset's...with the next generation of consoles PC gaming will be completely obsolete...sure there was a night and day difference in the 90's when FPS like Dark Forces were graphically eons ahead of the super NES shit, but now with blu ray it's all the same , just less stress.

It all dipends what you whanna play... now days you can't buy "bad" 3dcard, prety much any 3dcard you buy can play any game at highest settings without glitches. You rly can't buy bad software anymore these days and it's not expensive either anymore... it was fucked up 5-15 years ago, no more...

I dunno dude, it was still fucked up 2-3 years ago, Crysis was actually one of the games that caused distress because of how ridiculous the specs were at the time, the problem is still that guys like John Carmack (creator of Doom/Quake/etc) make games with specs that won't be available for 4-6 months and then release them, they are developer's so they have hookups on machines and technology right from the source, but the rest of the market falls behind, esp. when it's costing 5-600$ to upgrade every months

Since almost every new game is an Xbox360 / PS3 port anyway now you dont need the latest 6 core cpu etc. You can play every recent game with a 2-3 year old system basically. pretty sad actually.... but all thanks to the console ports.

Since I have worked in a very large Video Games Publisher I give you a quick inside in what these companies deal with.
For PC Games:
Anyways the problem is not that they don't know the glitches and bugs but the problem is that most companies are under a huge pressure to have the game released as soon as possible.
So I have seen many games that we knew had issues but they were conveniently overlooked to get the game on the marked.
The problem is of course also that you are testing the games under all kinda different computer specs and with different OS etc. but there are so many different specs and settings for the PC so
its litteraly impossible to test all these and to keep an eye on all these.
For the Console:
This is a little different - same setup with the Alpha and Beta game discs (which usualy crash anyways) but the submission process is different, the games are tested with a very specific games test
script as in (in our case a checklist) take out memory card at this stage and press the following key combo to get the follow message and check for spelling and truncations (truncations are a big problem specifically when the game is translated in German).
Now the main difference to the PC game is that any console game has to be submitted to either Microsoft Sony or Nintendo when you are done testing and its stable and bug free.
They put it through their own testing team which at the end either fail it or submit it (and let me tell you you want to pass first time since there are penalties) its very very hard to pass a game first time,
there are a lot of areas you can miss - messages bugs and glitches.
It usually comes back with the attached error list and you need to start from beginning as in fix the bugs and test all over again.
This all might sound like any gamers dream
to work as a QA tester but I have QA tested Blizzard Warcraft Frozen thrown which was by far the funnest game to QA test and I had fun till the very end, however there are games
like LArry that are a nighmare to test and you are so bored the from beginning to the end - than you have games like Riddick that are fucking awesome to test.

I can't see how they'd make BC2 Vietnam into something unique and worthwhile. BC2 itself is a really good game and has a lot of sweet features. With Vietnam you'll most likely end up with old shitty weapons and turds spamming the flamethrower just because it looks cool. Other than that my guess it's going to be pretty much the same. I doubt they'll somehow manage to make something original out of it.

because of consoles pc games are suffering... we would have prety much real life graphics by now, but since so many noobs are buying consoles and console games, they just have to lower pc game standards and make them first in consoles, and THEN in pc... too bad too :(

Although the Xbox 360 controller isnt bad, it will NEVER match a PC for controls.
And Cpt EQ, remember CS? Doom 2, Duke Nukem 3d, Half Life 1, Unreal, quake 2, etc. PC gaming now is almost dead, due to consoles. Theyre just cooler, and more accesible to people than computers.
Its a shame. PC gaming in the late 90s was the golden era, IMHO. I remember when the shelves at stores were full of rediculous games, and all the companies were competing agaisnt each other, they were awesome. Now its nothing but ports of console games.

I will never agure someone's perspective on a game because it's all subjective. My point in posting that was to show the flaw in the other poster's argument that games for PCs suck because they're developed for consoles first, and to invalidate the Carmack point.

True. It's justified too because a lot of these games have surpassed movies in terms of storyline, character development, shock moments, soundtrack, etc. It's a medium many are missing out on because they still view video games through Space Invaders colored glasses.

Agreed 100%, that's the only reason to still play PC once in a while!, omg.. I almost failed grade 11 because of Duke nukem 3d..that set the bar for deathmatch!!! I will never forget those nights staying up till 4am on 28k modem playing duke or quake! good times.. counter strike changed everything, that's when team FPS games really took off.

Yeah ofcourse that's true, and yes the game was repetetive, but I was on the edge of my seat because the first time I even touched the game was in 2006 when I got geforce8800, the first card that started the new era where all games could be played without slowups.
It really is about being a fan of some game. I loved doom3. All that alien/anunnaki symbolism and satan worshiping when I just found out about that topic, held it true at the time.
Idsoftware is the number one FPS developer IN MY BOOk, because all the other games just... meh, in my oppinion. I can't even call my self a gaming fan because I don't play "games", I play very certain games and if they don't have the "touch" i'm looking for it doesn't matter what it is.
I'm an idsoftware fan, their gameplay is unmatched.

Something about the music, the colors, the movies they incorporated into the story line like Scarface, Carlitos Way, Good Fellas, that authentic feel of the 1980's, etc just worked so well.

Another example; compare quake wars: Enemy territory on pc using 1920*1200 16xAF and 16xAA on, and then compare it to ps3 and xbox36... guess what, the console looks like counterstrike with old school OpenGL and it still chops like a ####... many BASIC aspects of the game had to be removed because even after lowering the graphics below SHIT, the game coudln't play at all in consoles.
I mean REALLy . Who gives a shit about sales anyway. Gameplay/looks is the only thing i care, I don't care where the developer sleeps at night, what I care about is that pc's can fly jumbo jets and I'm willing to pay 500 euros per component to have it.

Anyway, from what I read, the MP is great (of course, it will be very buggy at launch, as usual). I take reviews with a grain of salt since so many of them are in the developer's pocket, but that seems to be the universal opinion.

From what I've heard from actual people (i.e. not the paid off reviewers), it's taken all the worst aspects of MW2 multi-player and made them even worse. And given that MW2 multi-player was complete garbage....

Even though those pic are taken from your phone, they still look really good.
That's one of the problems I have when playing games like that - the graphics are really great but you don't notice them because the action is so fast. Watching someone else play leads you to see so many peripheral things that might be missed when controlling the action.

fps is pretty much the only games I enjoy.. and like gta, mafia etc. Not really into sports game. And I cant play fps on anything else besides with a Mouse and keyboard anything else just feels wroong. Only thing thats probably better IMO on consoles is sports games and fighting games. Like tekken and stuff like that on PC would SUCK lol. I did however enjoy the controls they used for the fights "sessions" in mafia 2. that could be used as a boxing game with some fixes ofc

Not all that far I think, maby 3-4 levels left. its easy to see if you quit after you finished a mission and then you load it, you can see how many missions is left on the list =)

I only really play fps..and even then I tend to go for the more realistic military type ones - ie, I prefer killing humans to aliens.
However, I never got into the GTA games ..too much fucking driving and cartoonish comedy stuff.
