it wasn't standing, it was seated and on a steep incline to boot, that's weaker than an underfed kitten, you probably walk around with your arms cocked out to your sides when you press the 50's, hahaha, little bitch.

How much do you do on a seated DB shoulder press?

Very impressive. At what bodyweight?

Doesn't really matter what bodyweight BTW, just curious. It's a shitload of weight never the less.

How old are you? I ask that question because when you get older to start to reconsider your philosophy.

i used to do free weight for everything until I tore my labrum and that happened after I turned 30. When I recovered, I realized that it wasn't worth the risk of injury so I started doing smith machine and i still get the same feel.....i think even better because i don't have to balance the weight.

I did but that was in 2001. I Turned 30 in 2002 and in November of that year, I tore my labrum doing 365 on the military, trying to be Ronnie Coleman. After the first two reps I knew I should have stopped because I felt funny but I didn't and on the third, I felt a burning sensation go from my shoulder to my hand. After I recovered I just did smith machine. I still do 365 for 6 on the smith machine but I don't have to worry about stabilizing muscles. Makes a big difference.

I tried the 130's 2 weeks ago. Got 2 reps :P Good ones though. I normally use the 115's or 120's for my top set.

IMHO, I think the DB's are the best for shoulder work, simple reason you get more free range of motion. When using the BB, the arms are locked, and with the Smith, the pressing path is locked.

If you always use DB's and BB's, I believe you will strengthen the tendons and stabilizing muscles in a way that is hard to do with Smith machines and other equipment.

Not to say that there is no place for certain excersises.
