A TOP porn star has died after facing a social media backlash for tweets about working with men who have starred in gay adult movies.

August Ames, 23, who has appeared in more 270 flicks, passed away earlier today in Camarillo, California, USA.
Since starting in the industry four years ago she has won two Adult Video News (AVN) awards.
Her husband and director Kevin Moore said: “She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me.
“Please leave this as a private family matter in this difficult time.”
The cause of her death is being investigated, but law enforcement said there was no indication of foul play, according to US media reports.

Please, explain what the meaning of "gay community" actually is and why you are putting the blame on an entire kind of people who didn't even know who she was until now.
Unlike most western societies, there is no system of oppression or harrassment against heterosexual people, that simply doesn't exist so you can't blame the "gay community" for her passing. Sexual orientation doesn't equal group-think cult in any way and there is no institution enforcing the oppression and harrassment of heterosexual people. It's actually the other way round.
I read some of her comments the other day and she indeed sounded prejudiced at least against the men who do gay porn which are most likely bisexual because gay men don't lust after women and they don't enter the world of porn to have sex with women anyway. There was no need for her to be incendiary publicly and I don't think anybody wanted to force her to have sex with those men so all the fuss was unnecessary from the beginning. What I read is porn actors responding to the stigma they felt it was being thrown at them by her.
I bet some people were overly reactionary and crossed the line between justified criticism of her comments and aggressive replies which ended up in an uncivilised argument. Combined with apparently a history of depression it didn't end well. I don't know what situation you are referring to; I prefer to stick to the unfortunate case in discussion. It is unfortunate that some people are manipulating her passing to advance and justify their homophobia. She had a heated discussion with some people on social media. There is criticism about her comments that are valid. What is not valid is aggression of any kind.
I don't see whose freedom is being taking away. If you are talking about her not wanting to have sex with men who do gay porn I haven't read any of the male performers demanding to have sex with her. Her tweets were unnecessary.

Can you imagine the small talk at Thanksgiving if that’s your profession. Many of us glamorize them but their lives are rough (with exceptions, of course). This sounds more reasonable. I highly doubt she woke up one morning, saw some comments from the LGBT community, and committed suicide. The research doesn't support such a view (of course, there are exceptions). I am talking about the research related to suicide. I could not find specific research that studies suicide in the porno industry. However, the general research shows that suicide is often due to the convergence of multiple risk factors and/or multiple life stressors--not ONE isolated factor.
I just read that she had a history of depression. We will likely never know what her depression was related to. But, as I said, the online harassment probably added to a history of depression related to other factors.
