Globally: putin hands down. No competition.

In Usa: must be one of the early ones... truly great men with a vision... I would like to point out Lincoln due to his work to free the slaves despite heavy pressure

Then why does Russia appear to be a 3rd world country? Would I take Putin over Obama? Absolutely.

I don't get how russia appears as 3rd world country.

But anyways, you must understand the situation the country was in when Putin emerged.
Who in his right mind would have thought in 1999 that russia will again some day protect millions of people in middle east, eastern europe from being bombed to ashes. That russia would be one of the most dominant topics in us elections. Russias territory is increasing for the first time in 80 years. Even population is having natural growth.

Putin is challenged only by Peter the Great and Stalin. Under Stalin the soviet union at peak produced almosr 10% of world's gdp. But neither of them was called president.

I voted for Washington. He is essentially the Julius Caesar of America. A brave general, who defied all odds, to help a proud, rag-tag army, to ultimately defeat the mighty British Empire.

He also had the nuts to dive into uncharted waters, and become America's first ever President Of The United States. This was when the President had true power, and not just a puppet on strings for a specific party or sponsors.

Washington was both the first, and the best President.

Stalin? Forgive my ignorance, but isn't he labeled as a crazy, mass-murderer by most of the world?

He was the first under the US Constitution as we know it, but he is not the First President of the United States.

You just answered your own question. We don't operate on technicalities in this country.

Washington was the first OFFICIAL POTUS.

Franklin d Roosevelt first- second teddy Roosevelt.

They were both great, but I liked Teddy a little better because of his "Bull Moose" attitude.

No, he wasn't.

John Hanson was elected president and became the first official to serve a one-year term under the provisions of the Articles of Confederation. (The First rule of law of the United States.)

Learn some history.

He was the President of The Continental Congress, not The United States of America.
