Never used a trap bar before but I'd say go as heavy as you can before using straps. As for regular deads my pinkies are right inside the smooth ring and my feet just inside that, usually shins 1-2" on the knurls. Something that helps with grip strength I always use a double overhand grip up to as much as I can before alternating, helps build grip strength and the less you use them the better imo.

Thanks for the advice.  I'm going to try that stance when I return to regular DLs.  Probably incorporate the rack pulls too.

it thickens up with heavy rows

im quite strong on pull downs tried wide and narrow but not much success


rows are vital for thickness and many different bars,and grips to try,,,iusually do 2-3 rowing movements per wkout
chins start bodyweight followed by 2 added weight sets.
bent over row either hands over top or reverse grip some people either like or hate it this way but it does pull pressure to bi's/elbows so if either of these are giving problem ,due the overhand grip instead,,but reverse allows a bit more weight used and i feel signifigant pump/feel from them
low pulley row as chaos said to chest or stomach and for wider version use wide lat pulldown bar instead of small pulley bar.
one arm row dumbell no explanation needed
standup pulldown/pullover,,,use cable crossover attach large bar to top ,,slight bend at waiste and pull weight to upper leg and tuck in hold there and back to above shoulder height ,,its like a standup pullover .all add width and thickness i use all these in some form,,,

chaos,,1st exercise i did 2 warmups 3 sets 10/12 reps last set i think 6-7 i had 6plates per side hammer v squat pads are on shoulders and its angled like a fancier hack,,the rest 3 sets per exercise so quads were with warmups 13 sets total..reps ranges 12 and lowest was 6,,,hams i did 4 sets of curls and 3 sets sit up leg curl so 7 total,calves 5 sets ..so i guess 25 sets total big muscle groups tho,,,sun feel lil sore but i stay pumped for 2 days after legs usually,,,,

Great minds think alike. I usually throw front plate raises in as well but it took me 1.5 hours to go 18 miles in this ridiculous Christmas traffic today so I wanted to be in and out of the gym afterwards.  :'(

what did ya take few days off?i started month or so doing skull crushers knowing a month in again for umpteenth time my elbow will get fukked as then voila...it took few wks still to be able to do pushdowns comfortably with less pain ,,but i trained in pain ,,,it's my only pained joint,i train back heavy no problems,squat and do legs heavy no back or knee issues,,,its my left elbow always >:(

De-load week.  All weights done at 60% of prior totals.

Curious to see if I get strength gains in week 6....
