Interesting article on Zerohedge about the risk factors in the upcoming Greece/ECB "negotiations":

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-02-10/how-fast-would-contagion-spread-if-greece-exits-eurozone

I read something recently that something close to $100 trillion of the derivatives market is directly tied to the Euro.

Lot of posturing for their respective domestic political audiences. However behind closed doors they should agree a reduction in the Greek primary surplus from 4 to 1%, a stimulus/investment plan, a debt reprofiling that is effectively a restructuring and a continuation of structural reforms to make the economy more flexible and investment friendly. Simples.

IIRC you are Finnish, right?

Have you ever met a Greek? LOL. I am pretty sure that none of those things are on the horizon.

Thanks AJ. It's so hard to say because this shit should have crashed years ago.  It's been propped up via QE and other schemes. So people keep predicting and getting it wrong.  There will be a time very soon when they run out of options. A large war, large natural or cosmic disaster, or something like this would instantly cause it.  I'll read the article. Thanks again.

I called the greek economic collapse before they spent billions on the olympics.  I said they don't have the funds for it.  The country is too small and not rich enough to hold such an event at such a large cost.  Read some papers from economists about the downside of hosting the olympics.

The only reason we aren't Greece is because we can sell our debt.  But brothers its only a temporary reprieve from the inevitable.

The germans conquered europe for the first time with the help of the Euro, they wont allow it to fail, no one including the greeks can afford to get out, there will be a compromise but the germans also need to save face.

Should I be worried that I'm beginning to think that at least in regards to economic collapse Wiggs might be onto something?

I am not so sure that the German electorate is too keen to carry all of the PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain) on their backs. Merkel get tossed. Hello PEGIDA!

They dont really have a choice, the alternative still costs more, its just whether their electorate can realise it.

The Euro was always a suicide pact and now it is a game of chicken.

The thing about the current Greek leadership is that they really don't give a fuck. The austerity programs that the ECB and the IMF demanded have turned the population into a raging mob and if this current group doesn't lift the yoke, they will throw them out and get somebody that will. Unless "Europe" (whatever the fuck that is) is going to put Greece under martial law, the end is already ordained, it just needs to be written.

Europe wanted to punish the Greeks for their fiscal profligacy. History is a bitch, because it was Europe's desire to punish Germany after WWII that led to Weimar which ultimately paved the way for Hitler.
