They just unveiled the Iphone 5, what do you think?
I'm not too impressed, but that can change once I see it in person. Almost seems as if they're are just making minor improvements at this point, but not the revolutionary changes that made so many people fall for the company.

they just make them marginally better do gullible consumers change their phone every year
-
I can already see the nerds camping out for this new/next one.
-
Essentially, what they have is an improvement upon the display (taller screen 4 inches), LTE (4 LTE capability), A6 (New faster chip with better processing), cameras (They made the camera better), they now have 3 speakers (back, upper front and lower front), dock connector (smaller dock connector) and the release of iOS 6.

I just lol at the people who expect Apple to reinvent the wheel every fuckin year. As if "only" 3 times a decade wasnt enough. And at the level they are right now, keeping the quality is by itself an honorable achievment.
-
so it grew taller warranting it to be called version 5? Sigh. People will still line up and get something that is exactly like their current phone but dish out more cash for it. So lame.

Looks like they are improving the GPS / directions thing. The current one sucks and has gotten me lost or going the wrong way numerous times.

i think ill go with a samsung phone instead

A little ironic that the gay man started this thread. What is the obsession about apple from the gay community?

design, status, you know gay shit that women and fags care about
I will admit I bought the first iphone when it first came out. but the only reason was that it was the only decent smartphone available at the time.
now there's tons with better specs/cost ratio than iphone which you basically just pay for a more exclusive brand.

bunch of "I traded my m3 for an infiniti and I'm glad" horseshit going on in this thread

No, but for such little changes they also didn't need to be advertising this event for a couple months now or even have an event all together. They should have just released it via internet.

Why? Like them or not, this creates incredible hype/market for the product.
It's a significant hardware upgrade.

Have a Galaxy S3,used an Iphone 4s for a few weeks, main differences
s3 has
A bigger screen
Quad core compared ip5 dual core
NFC and no NFC in ip5
Removable Battery
16gb or 32gb onboard and microsd slot for further 32gb (128 when it gets released)compared to IP5 64gb max
Led Indicator lights for missed calls, sms etc, none on ip5
Louder Speaker
Better and faster camera
Better quality video camera
Longer Lasting Battery
Higher Resolution screen
Wireless charging, none on IP5
HDMI out (with cable)
Stream movies, music, photos from Phone to your samsung tv or with samsung wireless hub
No need to use crappy itunes, just copy music direct to device in windows
File manager
Smart stay (knows you are looking at the screen so stays on)
Palm swipe
Buddy share
Better standby
Better talktime
Wolfsan Dac (daddy of audio hardware on mobile phones)
If drops its designed not to break, back and battery will come off, unlike iphone where energy has nowhere to go and it shatters in to a million glass pieces)
Google maps and youtube, both removed from IP5
Its Cheaper
Only reason I could see for somebody staying with Iphone is if they are a big gamer, as more games on Appstore, but thats changing now since most new games get released on both platforms or you have alot of paid apps from appstore.

I have the S3, and the thing is fucking cash. Fast, and responsive, great screen. Hardware is pretty much the best you can get right now. I didn't want a huge phone, but it is so thin it makes up for it. I suggest actually holding one, as it is actually quite nice. I only use android devices, not into apple products.

That chart is wrong the Droid Razr HD is coming in 16GB and 32 GB variants plus Micro SD Card.
Will also have two versions one with 2500 mah batter and one with a 3300 mah battery...
I'm planning on buying it!

Still the best form factor in a cell phone.
I hate how most Androids and Windows platforms are so damn big now... Maybe I just have teeny hands, but they don't fit in my palm as well as the iphone... Increasing the height, but not the width was a genius move.
Still easily put in the hand.
I have a 4 and I'll definitely be moving to the 5.

Don't understand why people have Apple phones when they bring out "new" ones with minimal upgrades pretty much every year now.

Apple is run by kunts. They take the glass off the back, put an aluminum back and proclaim it lighter and thinner. No shit! This was their plan from the last release as a new thing to do. They pretty much setup their next release with the current trying to get the sheep in order.
The 4 was "faster" than the five, but I have both and don't notice any difference. Faster for what? Angry birds will fly faster?
Cutting ropes will fall faster? This release had nothing new, nothing worthy of a show and marketing campaign. They have peaked, plain and simple. Time for someone else to revolutionize the phone and take over.

Gays don't have kids a woman. Therefore, they are willing and have the money to spend on better products.

The iphone 5 is impressive when compared to the older iphones...
But when compared to Android phones, its nothing special!
Bigger screen? - Android devices have been released with 4.7 and 5 inch screens for sometime now
High resolution screen? - Again Android devices have already had screens running 1280X720 resolution for sometime now
4G LTE? - Yeah any modern day android phone pretty much has that - Apple is very late in the game here!
8 mp camera and 1080p video capture? - yeah was already standard in a ton of Android phones since last year!
A6 processor? - Yeah that won't stand a chance next to a 1.5 Ghz Dual Core SnapDragon S5.... and lets not try to compare it to the Nvidia Tegra 3 because that will just be an embarrassment to Apple!
Apple Maps with turn by turn directions? - Turn by turn direction with voice has already been included on Google Maps (the fatest growing map database in the world) and was on a ton of android device like a year ago!
NFC Chip? - Oh wait the iPhone 5 doesn't have an NFC Chip, no tap to pay option for you I guess!
At least you still have Siri... she seems nice! Oh wait... co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak has already gone on record stating that Android Voice features is better than Apple's!
:-D
-
let me guess, you prefer Japanese cars to German/Italian too.

The retina display on the iphone 5 is a 326ppi, 4-inches. 1136 x 640 resolution. Same width as iphone 4s, but taller.
At the time it was released on the iphone 4 it was impressive... but since then many android phones have been released with better resolutions running 1280X720 hd displays! Which is still better than the iphone 5

Might be true,if you look at the history were due for a new king for awhile

Apple has their core fans, but like anything that will dwindle as the release the same product over and over and over. They did an amazing job with the original, changed the market. So did Motoralla with the RAZR flip a long time ago, everyone had one, but they couldn't follow it up with anything decent.
Apple had a couple great ideas, ran them to the bank, now they are just running them into the ground.

Design Thrills Apple’s Partners, but Will Cost Users
By BRIAN X. CHEN
The iPhone 5 has plenty of new features to keep Apple fans happy. But there is one feature Apple unveiled on Wednesday that is likely to annoy many: a new connector on the phone’s base.
The Lightning port, as Apple calls it, is smaller and shaped differently from the old one, instantly rendering obsolete the millions of spare charging cords, docks and iPhone-ready clock radios that its customers have accumulated over the years.
While irritating to some, the Lightning connector could be a boon to the hundreds of companies that sell accessories for iPhones and iPads.
“Apple is testing the patience of its fans,” said Tero Kuittinen, an independent analyst and a vice president of Alekstra, a company that helps customers manage cellphone costs.
“A lot of Apple fans have a lot of different accessories and use the old systems, so this is going to be a fairly expensive shift for a lot of them,” Mr. Kuittinen said. Makers of iPhone accessories are likely to be ecstatic, he added.
Apple, which is selling Lightning cables and $30 adapters that will connect the new phones to many but not all older accessories, is, of course, poised to profit from the design change as well. Apple said the smaller connector allowed it to make the phone thinner and use space inside the device more efficiently.
Accessories for Apple products are already a vast and lucrative business. In the last year, iPad, iPod and iPhone add-ons, including speakers, cases and power chargers, generated $2 billion in sales in the United States alone, according to the NPD Group, a research firm.
To stay on top of the market and avoid building products that will soon be out of date, accessory makers have to watch Apple as attentively as any technology journalist or analyst. Apple, which is known for its culture of secrecy, generally keeps accessory makers in the dark before it unveils its new hardware. The companies rely instead on leaks from Apple’s manufacturing partners in Asia, or on rumors about the devices that surface on Apple-focused blogs. On the day of an Apple hardware announcement, they watch reports of the event and wait for data sheets to come from Apple with details on the devices before they crank up manufacturing in China.
Griffin Technology, a company in Nashville that makes Apple accessories, said that moments after Apple introduced the iPhone 5, its employees were making final design tweaks in its prototyping shop, where 3-D printers turn out mock-ups of future products. Many Griffin employees had already traveled to China from the United States to be there when the iPhone 5 was introduced.
“Kind of like everyone else, we’re at the same starting line in the race to the peg,” said Mark Rowan, Griffin’s president.
Similarly, employees of Incase, a maker of iPhone cases based in San Francisco, crowded into a conference room to watch online reports of Apple’s presentation, said Dave Gatto, the chief executive. Employees in China were waiting at factories for final design specifications so they could start making cases.
Occasionally a rare few in the business get a peek at an Apple prototype, according to Jeremy Horwitz, editor in chief of iLounge, a Web site that reviews Apple accessories. Much as some software developers get to use a new Apple product in advance so they can have software ready to show off on Apple’s stage, he said, some accessory makers have had access to Apple devices before their unveiling. Mr. Horwitz said these devices were typically locked down to prevent theft or leaks.
Some companies take unsanctioned routes to get ahead of the game. Hard Candy Cases, a case maker, sent iPhone 5 cases to journalists before Apple even introduced the phone. Tim Hickman, chief executive of the company, said manufacturers in Shenzhen, where his cases are made, sent around design information for unreleased iPhones to attract case makers like himself.
“The factories have gone from, ‘Shhh, hey, buddy, look at what I have for you,’ to making it part of their presentation,” he said.
Mr. Hickman said he did not buy information from leakers in Asia. Instead, he said, he made a deal with a factory that had told him it could make cases for the iPhone 5 and asked him to send designs that it would then modify to fit the new phone. He said his iPhone 5 cases for sale to customers would arrive in the United States in about three days.
IHome, a New York company that is one of the biggest makers of iPhone clock radios and other Apple audio accessories, tries to plan for Apple’s announcements but does not assume anything is fact until the company unveils its new hardware, said Ezra S. Ashkenazi, its chief executive. He called the Lightning change “a unique circumstance” because it was the first time Apple had changed the connector since it was introduced.
There are already iPhone clock radios made by iHome and other companies in hotel rooms around the world. Kathy Duffy, director of public relations for the Marriott hotels in New York, said that if many patrons seemed to be getting the iPhone 5, the company would probably stock up on adapters or buy new accessories. “We’d have to evaluate it and see what the demand is,” she said.

The Samsung Galaxy S III, or any other modern Android phone are already worlds beyond IPhone 5. It's is just a device created to extract as much money out of your pocket as possible. The specs are plain bad and look at the price of apple products and apps.

iPhone 5 Benchmarks Appear in Geekbench Showing a Dual Core, 1GHz A6 CPU
The results show an iPhone5,2 device running iOS 6 with a Dual-Core 1.02GHz ARMv7 processor and 1GB of RAM.
The total Geekbench 2 score comes in at 1601. Poole notes that the average score for the iPhone 4S is 629 and the average score for the iPad 3 is 766. A comparison chart of previous iOS devices can be viewed at Geekbench. The numbers seem to validate Apple's claim that the A6 processor is twice as fast as the A5 and any previous iOS device. This one score also places the iPhone 5 ahead of the average scores of all Android phones on Geekbench. *The full Geekbench results further breakdown processor, memory and bandwidth performance.
* http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1030202
The A6 also appears to be clocked higher than the A5 at 1GHz (the iPhone 4S A5 ran at 800Mhz). The 1GB of RAM was previously confirmed by part number markings on the A6 processor itself.

They're called sheeple, they buy whatever the media tells them is "cool". :-\
-
The Iphones suck, they're just trendy garbage that people buy because it's cool. Apple sure has it's customer base figured out, release a new product every year or two with minimal changes and make a fortune off of stupid people.
-
So the product is complete shit I see. Phones used to last decades, the rotary ones never went bad and even the cordless ones of the 80s and 90s were well built. You could even use them to tap into all of your neighborhood`s conversations if you knew the tricks.
That Iphone must be really garbage if you have to throw it away after a year.

Oh wow....my old and decrepit Q9650 quad core from 2009 runs at 4.5 Ghz. God apple is a giant piece of fucking shit

iPhone 5 Benchmarks Appear in Geekbench Showing a Dual Core, 1GHz A6 CPU
* http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1030202
The A6 also appears to be clocked higher than the A5 at 1GHz (the iPhone 4S A5 ran at 800Mhz). The 1GB of RAM was previously confirmed by part number markings on the A6 processor itself.
Android benchmarks. ;D

Its not google decision as to what devices manufactures will update to use their latest OS as theres hundreds of phones that use android. apple has all but 6 phones with a simpler OS that all have similar specs, its easier to update the products when their not much different.

my iphone is the first cellphone that went past the two year mark, even the batery feels brand new. One tough sob. Best piece of portable eletronics I put my hands on since '89 gameboy.
Now, otoh, i will never understand the effor and time people like adons spends in preparing "meals". No matter what or how you do all that food that looked so nice on the picture you take to post on getbig will turn into the same brown sinty shit just some hours after that as always. What a waste (no pun) of human resources. At least apple products wont turn into fecal matter everytime.
-
So the product is complete shit I see. Phones used to last decades, the rotary ones never went bad and even the cordless ones of the 80s and 90s were well built. You could even use them to tap into all of your neighborhood`s conversations if you knew the tricks.
That Iphone must be really garbage if you have to throw it away after a year.
Who says it has to be thrown away? I use my iPhone for 2 years and then upgrade to a newer model for free. I then use the older phone as a media player (Pandora, iTunes etc.) or unlock it and give it to a family member so they can use it when they travel overseas. They can switch it out with a sim card in the country they are visiting.
If you think the product is shit you are a moron - oh wait, I knew that already.
Apple's iPhone business alone is bigger than Microsoft. Apple will likely be the first trillion dollar company.
Don't hate them because they are more successful than you.
-
Oh lets not forget the Samsung NOTE 2 wich is higher clocked then Samsung galaxy 3, so more performance then apple ibuttplug phone 5.
But does it translate it better real world performance? No, the Droids are still not as smooth as the iPhone. The Apple software makes better use of the hardware.

Agreed. It is extremely tough. My older cell phones would eventually show scuffs and scratches even when I was careful with them. All my iPhones still appear practically new.

At some point the screen becomes just too big. You want to be able to slip the phone in your pocket easily. I would like to see the iPhone screen extend to the very edge of the shell to make it a little bigger but still keep the same physical size. Maybe with the next revision this will be possible.
-
(http://androidandme.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-v-iphone-5-ad.jpeg)
a bit of a self-ownage, as most of those extra features are worthless, suggesting some validity to the claims samsung is just a copycat which, without a blueprint to follow, comes up with shitty gimmicks no one wants. it would be more convincing, really, if they just left out all the stuff that iphone doesn't have -- or if they had a unique feature that genuinely belonged at the top of the list.
-
But does it translate it better real world performance? No, the Droids are still not as smooth as the iPhone. The Apple software makes better use of the hardware.

Oh yes I am incredibly jealous of a large corporation. (I take that back, Republicans, more specifically the Republicans on the Supreme Court, with the ruling of Citizens United, have given Corporations "person-hood" status.)
So, you must have a collection of Iplayers, TunePhones, Touchpods, Twatters and whatever fuck else your 4 inch screen does. Tell me, is great fun to view web pages with a magnifying glass as it takes you 20 minutes to read one news article on a screen that size?
I hope you grow out of this throw away society business and actually choose to buy something that does not use planned obsolescence as a marketing tool. Think about it, you actually can`t wait for this planned obsolescence, so much that you wait in line every year like a giddy 8 year old waiting for Pokemon trinkets at Toys R Us, only to repeat the same behavior again and again and again because you want the new one that Vibrates your penis to the tune of Gangam Style as a ringtone. Get a hold of yourself man. Buy quality for a change. Something thats not designed to degrade or be obsolete.

jelly bean is extremely smooth. Im sure anyone else here can tell u the same.
Confections are usually made smooth as the sugar content is meant to melt in your mouth upon contact with saliva. Having a more rigid surface will cause an unevenness in dissolution (intended for some application), which is not the hallmark of a good jelly bean. Jelly beans should melt uniformly and provide full flavor throughout. So yes, they are smooth in shape, texture and taste.

If it's any consolation for you I have a solid maple dining set ;)
I do view web sites occasionally when using the iPhone but that is not the main benefit to me. I can actually check 5 email accounts at once on the iPhone - faster than by Quad Core Windows 7 w/ 8GB RAM can deliver.
For me the main benefit is email, gps navigation, Pandora music in my car, blue tooth phone calls in my car, photos (for work mostly), ewallet (for work) and the list goes on. I use the calendar feature for appointments, notes for meetings and have even used the compass once in a work related setting to determine our orientation. This device is sick - that's all I can say.
I will be switching to e85 soon and the e85 locator apps on the iPhone will help me find gas stations so I don't run into a situation where I have to fill up with pump gas.
E85 rocks for me mostly because of the higher octane - it is close to race gas.

Hahaha what i'm suggesting Army of One, is that when Gracie walked into the phone store to 'browse' the new models, he minced over to the counter and demanded to know which phone had the best loudspeaker call function as he was a very busy homosexual, who had no time for fishing his handset back out of his rectum and pulling the condom off everytime he got another call from MMA.bears.com about his unpaid subscriptions!

hahaha yes!Gracie always makes sure never to leave his answer phone on, and tells his Rwandan boyfriends not to stop ringing if he doesnt answer straight away ,so he can get maximal rectal enjoyment from the vibration feature of his self updated iphone, modified with car battery and pneumatic drill parts.

Embarrassing myself? if you say so.
Jellybean is sluggish as f*ck " and i know that you know that". IOS 6 runs very smooth.
Security? please embarrassed me.
The specs in the ad don't match the specs on Samsung's website:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-I747MBBATT-specs
Says 300 hours standby time (3G) on the SGIII, not 790 hours as the ad claims.
Says 8 hours talk time not 11.4 hours as the ad claims.
Then it goes into a bunch of software features with buzz worthy names without explaining them.
Funny huh?

Just saw on the news that the Galaxy S4 will come out in february. Seems like they are dangling off of Apple's nuts (I don't own anything Apple). Do they think all of the people who have an S3 will upgrade to an S4?
-
Did Samsung even have a galaxy 1 and 2?
Iphones are great for simple people. No thinking. Just slide thumb and click on fancy square. pretty easy. That is why gays and americans love it so much. The fact a 2 year old can navigate and use an apple is enough reason for me to hate it.
-
I'm just a fan of Samsung's phones. The restrictions of Itunes is enough for me not to get an Iphone.
-

You see it as a restriction but the reason why it's so popular is that simple non techie people can use it. That is the appeal.

To add to that, it is also a very chic and sexy looking phone that just blends well with good looking clothing. I appreciate things like that.
Aside from the basic appeal of the phone, I will concede that the Samsung Galaxy SIII does LOOK BETTER on paper than the Iphone 5, but I have yet to try it out in order to completely agree with that verdict.
For what I need it for, my Iphone 4 has worked very well over the last 2 years or so. I am due for a free upgrade now, so I will visit my local AT&T store and try out both phones before I make a final decision.

You make a good point. Of course people should take advantage of a free upgrade. Not if you have to shell out hundreds of dollars more for marginal upgrades. American consumerism at its finest. Most of us are guilty of it at some point.

It murders the IP4, I had one for a month then sold it, I simply couldnt justify the price to the pleasure of use I got from it, bought the S3 full price PAYG and you couldnt pry it from my hands 3 months later.

Question is: Will you get the S4 in feb.?
-
Both phones are great.
It's just boils down to whether you prefer the overall smoothness, but accept the limitations, that iOS has, or whether you prefer the total customization of android, and accept the bugginess that goes with an open sourced platform.
I switched to the 4S and prefer the smaller size and the incredible camera the phone provides. Doesn't mean I'm stuck on the 5 though, as I haven't had enough time to play with ICS and the improved processing ability of a phone like the S3.
I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I didn't read anything. I've used Android for years, so fuck off with your assumption.
I've endured the missed photos, videos, crashed apps etc. Went through Froyo, Gingerbread, etc. I like the OS and may return to it, but it still doesn't have the "feel" of iOS.

This is the only thing I could probably say that iOS has Android beat on. Android is still not as smooth as iOS, Jelly Bean is a step in the right direction with that situation but its not quite there yet..
But other than that - Android shits on iOS and fucks its mother! ;D

Let's take the time to watch a video showing tilt to zoom and some of the other useless features listed.
Why on earth would you ever use tilt to zoom. The only reason they even have features like that is an attempt to quit getting sued.
It just boggles my mind. With all specs aside. Just hold the two phones. One feels like a solid 6-800 phone. The other feels like a kids toy.
At the end of the day. Even if an IPhone could some how be flashed to droid, I still wouldn't want it. It's great that the android market is open source and rooted apps are in the same store as stock but no one in their right mind can ever compare or compete with the "jailbreak" and "Cydia".
One of the biggest problems with android was its inability to have simple tweaks that made my phone how I want. Cydia on the other hand has very thing. If I wanna hide statusbar elements I simply type in statusbar into Cydia, and a million other examples.
And themes alone make the iPhone a million times better. ROMS are cool. But a total pain in the ***. Winterboard is simple and easy to use.
I think "fanboys" could go on forever. But it's literally worse than politics talking about this.
Samsung people hate apple. Apple people support their products and dislike Samsung.
I think droid would do a lot better if they didn't come out with a new one every month. We get an iPhone once a year, for good reason. They make a solid great product with all the features they want to incorporate. Android releases a new phone with every new feature. It's sad.
Here's the main difference, imo, and why I'm choosing iOS for the moment.Android might be great if you want to work real hard to make it great.
Vanilla Android, like what comes stock on a nexus device is nice and custom ROM's are great too. The problem with all of them, is that just when you think you've got the perfect set up, you download an app and realize it's not compatible.
Or, an app that was working fine a minute ago suddenly forces closes. Its REALLY frustrating. So, you read up on forums, ask questions, find a fix and apply it, but alas--the "fix" breaks something else.
And you have to start all over again. What I love about iOS is that you don't need a custom ROM. Everything works perfectly. Plus when switching devices, you don't have to worry about compatibility.
Aside from this, you cannot compare build quality. iPhone wins every time. It feels so damn good in your hands. Not sure what manufacturers using Android's OS don't get about this.
Plastic sucks. Period. Finally, if you like gaming (like me), Android is really gonna piss you off. Games don't work accross all devices. The best games only work on Tegra-chip devices.
On iOS they pretty much all work (except for iPad only games, which, correct me if I'm wrong, aren't many). Just to top it off, if you enjoy using a lot of custom ROMs be careful about your games saves.
I don't know how many I've lost when jumping from one rom to another. I know there are apps that save them but they're not perfect.
Samsung is such a genius for coming up with the ad, it doesn't take a genius to know that Samsung does know what stand by time is.
SG3 still lags on speed , even with all that horsepower... because all that crap they got running in the background, no wonder they have a Sasquatch screen on there, to hide the car battery it takes to run the thing! ha!
STAND BY TIME
The maximum length of time a wireless phone or communicator is fully charged, turned on and ready to send and receive calls or data transmissions.
790 hours that's over a month, that's asinine! Their getting desperate it seems, losing a lawsuit and over a billion dollars will do that.
Apple announced pre-orders of its iPhone 5 topped two million in just 24 hours, more than double the previous record of one million held by iPhone 4S. Demand for iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply and while the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to customers on September 21, many are scheduled to be delivered in October.

Thanks for the update. I was generally curious, and admittedly never got any real time with JB and a better processor. And, I didn't recommend one over the other, just pointed it out that it boils down to what the end user will tolerate.

iPhone 5 Benchmarks Appear in Geekbench Showing a Dual Core, 1GHz A6 CPU
* http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1030202
The A6 also appears to be clocked higher than the A5 at 1GHz (the iPhone 4S A5 ran at 800Mhz). The 1GB of RAM was previously confirmed by part number markings on the A6 processor itself.
Android benchmarks. ;D

I love how it takes 5 editions of an over priced fashion symbol for people to catch on.

The Samsung Galaxy S III, or any other modern Android phone are already worlds beyond IPhone 5. It's is just a device created to extract as much money out of your pocket as possible. The specs are plain bad and look at the price of apple products and apps.
Couldn't agree more. Droid is the phone to have, more free apps, expandable memory etc etc.
These people are just crazy.

At what point does the stock go down? I saw where apple is 1% of the S&P or some shit like that. Will it be the second coming of the housing bubble when it bursts?

Smoke!? That's high-tech stuff. I still rely on the drums. Talk about dropped calls.

This video is proof that people are just stupid. Plain and simple stupid and Apple is cashing that stupidity to the bank.

These people are morons though. Anybody that knows anything about the iPhone 5 understands the screen is longer (16:9) with 6 vertical icons instead of 5 on the older models.
This just proves that many Americans are morons, not just iPhone users. But we knew that already.

these days, they not together anymore, she ran off with a biker kind of guy.
moral of the story: theres realy alot to learn about life, just from the above.
Made me laugh. Biker dude would have smacked her upside the head if she asked him to buy some Gucci shit. And Mr. Nice Guy gets the shaft. Hahaha.

In Europe, Speed Cameras Meet Their Technological Match
By KEVIN J. O’BRIEN
BERLIN — When Marc Guerin, a software salesman, drives the 38 kilometers from his home west of Paris to Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, he seeks out the fastest route for his Audi Q5 crossover and powers up his Coyote, a radar warning and traffic service that alerts him to the locations of France’s 3,000 speed cameras.
When Mr. Guerin comes within four kilometers, or two and a half miles, of a speed camera, his Coyote screen warns that he has entered a “risk” zone, and he closely monitors his speed.
Since he began using Coyote three years ago, Mr. Guerin said, he has not received a speeding ticket. He said he used to average three or four tickets a year which cost him about €400, or about $515.
“For one thing, I no longer get caught by the speed cameras, which are all over France,” Mr. Guerin said. “For another, it advises me constantly of the legal speed limits and traffic conditions, so I am better informed and much more relaxed when driving.”
Smartphone applications have been developed to monitor sleeping babies, open garage doors and analyze the nutritional content of a restaurant meal. Now in Europe, where the police in many countries use stationary and mobile radar cameras to catch speeders, the smartphone is being honed into a highly effective — and controversial — mobile radar detector.
“This type of technology is going to soon be standard in most vehicles,” said Serge Bussat, the vice president of sales at Coyote, a company based in Paris whose driving applications are being used by 1.7 million people in Europe, a third of them in France.
Mr. Bussat said that 6 percent of all French drivers now use radar driving apps.
Tolerated in many European countries, the use of radar-detection services like Coyote’s, which also monitors a driver’s speed against posted limits and advises of traffic jams, was applauded last year by the French government as a useful driver education tool, which helped legitimize the service.
While a law prohibiting radar-detection technology remains on the books in Germany, it is rarely enforced and may be amended to permit some driver alerts.
Only in Switzerland, where border guards are trained to spot and seize radar detection consoles, is the ban still strictly enforced. In the United States, where speed cameras are not as widely used, services like Coyote’s, which costs $63 a year or $185 when purchased by the month, are harder to justify. Also, receivers that can detect the Doppler radar waves emitted by police speed guns — like the original Fuzzbusters — are legal in the United States.
But in Europe, Doppler receivers tend to be outlawed and hidden, and permanent cameras are prevalent, so the market for app-based speed camera detection is growing. The two biggest makers of auto navigation devices, Garmin and TomTom, both bundle speed camera alert services with most of their latest products. A string of specialty services has also sprung up, including Coyote in France, Blitzer.de in Germany and Radardroid in Spain.
Most of these companies rely on their users to scout and report the locations of speed cameras, which are then forwarded to others using the same application. Drivers passing the same points are asked to confirm or amend the sightings.
Across Europe, at least 25,000 speed cameras are in use, said Arpad Nemeth, the owner of Poiplaza, a firm in Budapest that manages a database of 4.7 million points of interest logged by their precise geographic coordinates. Mr. Nemeth, a retired television news editor, said the locations of mobile and fixed speed cameras in his database had been compiled by the 80,000 people who had downloaded and used his free application.
Governments in many European countries, Mr. Nemeth said, voluntarily publish the locations of permanent speed cameras, which tend to be installed at sites of frequent accidents. Like Coyote and Radardroid, Mr. Nemeth’s Web site warns users that the use of radar detection databases is illegal in Germany and Switzerland. But enforcement, especially of apps on smartphones, is difficult if not impossible, he and others said.
Coyote, while warning of the legal ban in Germany, still provides data on German fixed and mobile cameras to users of its European service. So does Radardroid, a €6 application sold through Google’s Android app store that is made by Ventero Telecom of Madrid.
“Our app is being used in Germany right now,” said Felix Ventero, the software engineer who created Radardroid, which is used by a million people, mostly in Europe. “The reality is, people are using these services because the technology makes it possible.”
Regardless of how prevalent they are, radar detection applications remain controversial and services like Radardroid, which report the exact locations of mobile speed cameras, may have to change to satisfy the concerns of the law enforcement authorities, who view the services as enabling speeding and increasing the risk of injury and death.
Those concerns prompted the French government to force Coyote, which also used to report the exact locations of mobile speed cameras, to amend its practices last year. Coyote now alerts drivers only when they enter a “risk zone,” which could mean accident, traffic jam or speed camera. In October 2011, the French government certified Coyote as a helpful education tool.
This week at the Paris Motor Show, which runs through Oct. 14, the French automaker Renault plans to announce that it will install Coyote software on all of its new cars sold next year in seven European markets, said Mr. Bussat, the Coyote executive. Mr. Bussat said negotiations were also taking place with other carmakers in France and Germany.
Renault will not be installing Coyote on cars sold in Germany, where there is opposition to a proposal for a partial lifting of the country’s ban on the use of radar detection applications to display the locations of permanent speed cameras.
The Deutsche Polizeigewerkschaft, which represents the country’s federal police force, and several German states that earn revenue from speeders, oppose lifting the ban.
“The thinking is that speed cameras, especially those set up near schools or hospitals, serve an educational purpose,” said Matthias Knobloch, the manager director of the European Automobile Clubs, a Berlin association that represents auto clubs in Germany and Austria. “Generally, the police view the technology as an obstacle to doing their jobs.”
A spokeswoman for Peter Ramsauer, the German transport minister, said the agency was considering a request to amend national laws but had not taken a position. Oliver Luksic, a member of the Bundestag who heads transport policy for the German Free Democrat party, said he was optimistic the German ban would be lifted.
“There are many absurdities in our laws that can be dealt with through this type of modernization,” Mr. Luksic, one of two lawmakers who has asked that the ban be lifted, said during an interview. “We are only trying to adapt the code to what is taking place on the streets.”
But that kind of logic may not be persuasive enough in Germany.
Mr. Knobloch, the automobile association spokesman, said he doubted that German politicians, faced with opposition from state law enforcement officials and others, would voluntarily lift the ban. But even if the ban remains in effect, the German police will not enforce it, Mr. Knobloch said, because of the difficulties of detecting the application on a smartphone.
So even in Germany, the use of radar-detection apps will spread. “It is hard to stop this type of useful technology,” Mr. Knobloch said.

I picked up the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD today, it just launched and I was at the store first thing in the morning.... two day battery life baby!!
-
Or you could have just bought a galaxy s3 and swapped the battery
2100mah + 2100mah (4200mah)
RAZR HD max 3300mah
Though I may pick up the 2500mah RAZR HD (no 3300mah here)
I like the look and on screen buttons. They take up space but look badass
The RAZR comes with Google chrome as default browser :s
Chrome looks nice but its laggy as hell. The stock ICS browser is better then chrome
-
Too showy?

-
The next nexus will probably be the phone to get.
My galaxy s3 running cm10 jellybean is just on another planet compared to touchwiz and any android phone
Though, after having the HTC one xl, the galaxy s3 screen looks sub par. The HTC one x screen is mind blowing
-
Yeah the next Nexus is going to be the LG Nexus 4, although rumor has it that there will be multiple nexus devices this year and next.
I hate the stock ics browser, alternate between chrome and opera.
Reason I went with the RAZR Maxx HD over the galaxy s3 is because Motorola's build quality is unmatched... best hardware.... and closest thing to stock android software on a non-nexus device!
you won't regret getting the RAZR HD but why no maxx?

But can you get a case like this for motocrapola?

S3's NFC is built into the battery tho. So you would have to find a Samsung extended battery. With idk if they even exist.
I'm pretty sure you can also buy some battery cases with NFC built in (they definitely have the for the galaxy nexus)

I heard it was supposed to come with the holografic keyboard. I do not see it listed on the screenshots. ???
^^
Those were ALL propaganda from Apple fanatics who were just spreading HYPE. They want to have a future like Star Trek the new generation.
HTC makes fine smart phones, with everything one might need. Check them out...

Are you an Eskimo?
NO, it's the only way he can walk around with wood in his pants

I have two spare Samsung batteries. I bought 2 Samsung battery kits. They have NFC built in. (though I find NFC a gimmick atm)
Yeah I am not sure why companies want thin thin phones. The most important thing is battery. Especially 4g/lte that drains your battery
Yeah the Motorola hd is pretty much a better nexus
So many epic phones will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Who Made That Cellphone?
By PAGAN KENNEDY
“We wanted to do a dazzling demonstration,” Martin Cooper says of the day in 1973 when he stood outside the Manhattan Hilton and fiddled with an object that was nearly the size of a child’s boot. “I had this thing with push-buttons on it, and I was talking into it,” he remembers. A crowd gathered around him on Sixth Avenue, gawking as he demonstrated how to make a call from the sidewalk — with no phone booth and no wires.
After the stunt, Cooper — who was head of the communications-systems division at Motorola — met with journalists inside the Hilton. The first cellphone, weighing more than two pounds, had all the sex appeal of a doorstop. Still, it was a triumph of engineering. To prove that the phone wasn’t an elaborate fake, he handed it around. One reporter called Australia and was astonished when her mother’s voice came out of the plastic-covered device.
“I have a mantra that people are naturally, fundamentally and inherently mobile,” Cooper says. While working on car phones, he imagined a world in which people would carry the devices on their bodies — and he liked to joke that “when you were born, you would be assigned a phone number.” That idea seemed wildly futuristic in the 1960s, when car phones needed 30-pound batteries. But by the early 1970s, “the electronics had improved,” he says. “We could get by with a small battery and very small parts, and you could actually carry the phone with you.”
It would be another decade before you could actually buy one. The Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, left, went on sale in 1983 for about $4,000 — and became a symbol of yuppie excess. In the 1987 movie “Wall Street,” Gordon Gekko strolls on the beach at sunrise and snarls into his brick-size phone, “This is your wake-up call, pal.” Soon enough, everyone else would get the wake-up call, too.
SPYING ON YOURSELF
Alex Pentland, director of the Human Dynamics Lab at M.I.T., studies cellphone data for clues about our behavior.
The phone tracks our movements, as well as our calls and texts, so it can reveal a lot about our daily lives. What did you learn about yourself by studying your own cellphone data? That I’m very predictable. We tend to pay attention only to the new things in our lives. Meanwhile, our habits are invisible to us. You may say you don’t always eat Tex-Mex food, but if you’re always at the Tex-Mex restaurant, I’d have to disagree.
If you were to look at my cellphone data, could you predict where I’ll be next Tuesday? Probably.
In a recent study, you looked at people’s cellphone data and found that their behavior changed just before they reported feeling sick. Yes. It turns out that all of us have very consistent responses when we’re getting the flu. We move around more before we come down with the illness — it’s that last gasp of activity before you get really sick.
You asked the people in your study to tell you how many hours they slept. Did you discover anything when you put together the sleep logs with calls, texts and other cellphone data? It turns out that there’s a strong correlation between social stimulation and good sleep. If you don’t sleep well, you are more likely to be a hermit. Some of the people in our study discovered that the correlation was very strong for them — they needed good sleep in order to be social.

Martin Cooper was actually present at Motorola latest Droid Razr HD unveiling last September. They talked all about the development of the first cell phone and how it has progressed today.
It is truly one of the most amazing pieces of technology that we have today.

Not only that, is he trying to tell us that he doesn't have a cell phone?
