Title: Obama on Male Nurses - "Men view it as women's work".
Post by: Soul Crusher on September 30, 2011, 02:13:56 PM
Here is what he says in public:

I mean, nursing, teaching are all areas where we need more men. I’ve always said if we can get more men in the classroom, particularly in inner cities where a lot of young people don’t have fathers, that could be of enormous benefit...I think that if you start seeing nursing pay better and teaching pay better, and some of these other professions, you’re going to see more men in those fields, although there’s a little bit of a chicken and an egg — if you start getting more men in those fields, then the stereotypes about this being a woman’s field and all the gender stereotypes that arise out of thinking that somehow they’re not the primary breadwinner, those stereotypes start being whittled away.

Here is what he says in private:

http://www.alternet.org/story/152498/the_miseducation_of_the_president/?page=3

Early in the book, during a campaign strategy session on candidate Obama's economic program, he and his advisors discuss the continuing erosion of jobs and wages for low to moderately skilled male workers. The big job opportunities, one researcher explains, will be in the exploding realm of healthcare -- positions for nurses, hospital orderlies and in-home assistants to frail seniors will boom.

Obama jumps in: "Look, these are guys," he says. "A lot of them see health care, being nurse's aides, as women's work. They need to do something that fits with how they define themselves as men." Quickly the conversation turned to infrastructure: fixing the nation's crumbling roads, bridges, schools and public buildings. Men like to build, the group concludes, and infrastructure offers a campaign promise that promotes employment, improves our public roads and buildings, and makes working-class men feel better about themselves. It's a threefer, the kind of big idea Obama likes. He leaves the meeting energized. "Good meeting," he tells the guys. "Real good.

what did palin say to the waitress about 'sambo' in 2008?

Unless you care what repubs say "in private", why care what dems say "in private"?

Your link doesn't debunk it.  LOL!

It's a single witness account.  333386 posts them all the time.

It's an unnamed "witness" who allegedly made a statement to a Canadian blogger.  lol . . . .

you should see the shit 333386 lets fly.

"Read michelle's lips here... you can almost make it out..."
or
"Whitey Tape, it's right there on Rush"
or
"Secret Service racism firing, it's right there on liveleak"
or
"Obama had sex with that dude, even though the dude failed two polygraphs on it..."

So yes, BB, by the getbig criterion for our lawyer friend 333386 - a single witness is more than enough evidence.  :)

I see.  You think it's ok to state unsubstantiated rumor as fact because you think 33 does it?   ::)  (Rhetorical question.)

Absolutely.

And just like on the other threads - unless you chide him on it - then your opinion is irrelevant here.

If you only give a shit about burden of proof when it comes to palin, that makes you a partisan political hack.

Is that what you are?  Cause you never step up and call 33 on his bullshit sourcing ;)

I don't need to chide him to call you on the flat out lies you post on the board.  If I was to actually read most of what you post, I'd be doing it every day.  lol.  In fact, your quota for the week has been exceeded.

But none of that, or 33, has anything to do with you posting as fact the alleged comment of an unnamed person who allegedly overhead a comment by Palin, as reported by a Canadian blogger.  Funny.   :)

Lol.     Both are direct quotes, and one from himself in an interview!

it's okay, BB.

You attack 1-source statements against palin, and you let them ride against Obama.

We "get it", homie.

E board is down the page a bit. Just use the arrow keys or your mouse-wheel to scroll down as you're clearly on the wrong board.

I'm no nurse, but my job has me working/talking/in-servicing them all the time. Being an RN is no fucking cake-walk.

They aren't candy stripers anymore.

I just thought it was fucking bizarre when I read it in suskinds' book.

I was thinking to myself:  Fuck you Obama, men, women, whoever, need jobs, wherever they come from"

Hahaha is if that brown turd represents everything manly.......he's probably had a few cocks in his mouth.

A job is a job.  I pay my taxes like anyone else.  Some of you dumbshits would be surprised at just who are nurses on this board and other boards.  Have a friend who is ex special forces and is going into nursing.  Another buddy is a former helicopter pilot that escorted navy seals all over Afghanistan and he's now a flight nurse.  Some of you embeciles have no idea what you're talking about.  I make close to 6 figures with over time, have 4 days off everyweek... while most of you fags pound keyboards and sit in a cubicle all day putting in your 60+ work week barely making minimum wage when it's all said and done.

Like BezerkerFaggot.......... ...MBA?  LOL...........I probably make more than him and I have a two year degree.  :)  Hell and if all I had to do was empty bed pans all shift I'd have the greatest job in the world.  Unfortunately I have a hell of a lot more responsibility than that.  Don't worry all of us will be old and decrepid one day and you'll see just what it's like to sit in your own shit, forget who your wife or daughter is and have to rely on nurses for your care and well being.  Lots of troops that have come home injured from Iraq or Afghanistan rely on nurses everyday for their well being recovery.  You think the doctors are the ones in the trenches getting them to walk again, talk again, teaching them how to dress their wounds, empty their ostomy bags etc?  It's the nurses, therapists, aides etc that do all the work and make a difference.
