If you haven't followed the news for well, 15 yrs, there have been an increased assault on "maleness", men are not supposed to be leaders, no supposed to speak their minds, not to show outward aggression. Men are now supposed to take orders, be submissive, talk about their feelings, and be passive aggressive, seemingly more like their female counterparts.
Fighting is the last bastion of "maleness" that is left. Those men who have not the ability to gain wealth, or education---or they have had the doors shut on them for various reasons, turn to fighting to assert their dominance.

Because it feels good to be a alpha male, knowing that you can kick a guys ass gives you a good feeling.

Yes in about twenty years there will be all kinds of mma warriors walking around not knowing what day it is. The effects of repeated blows to the head is a slow cumulative process which you may never notice as the years go by but other people will. Take a look at old NFL players, mostly linemen who never got the glory, just had to do the dirty grunt work to win games. Most of them do not have the quality of life in their middle age. Look at Leon Spinks, the man can hardly put a sentence together, Ali is a total vegetable now. Yes brain damage can result from a good kick to the head. I've seen it myself. Years ago at the dojo I trained in a simple sparring match resulted in a knockout, ruondhouse kick caught the guy in the base of the skull, he had head gear and foot wear and still. The guy had severe headaches for months and was off work for some time, which I'm sure the wife and kids did not appreciate. He was a pretty good fighter but he never came back.

I'm coming from the point of view that it seems like every dildo whats to be a "fighter" in the last 5 or 6 years.. I see it all the time. A guy loses his lustor for lifting weights. Gets laid-off. Gets dumped by his chick.. and the next thing you know.. He's MMA'ing and getting his blocked knocked off at officiated fights or just in training! You probably know a good deal of people that have ventured this route and have had miscellaneous results!?
This particular guy, seriously, would have been better taking up handgun target practice and shot himself in the foot rather than be seriously concussed and humiliated by that roundhouse.

Well, said generation (hippies---baby boomers) have done a terrible job when it comes to parenting, and have left an America circling the tubes for gen X and Y...
Maybe the gen before them, with some tweaks, had something in the way they ran this country...

The requirements have changed, add to that we have virtually every source of media's singular goal to get people into debt and we have the cluster fuck we now have.

Anyhow martial arts are cool is there kept as just arts and don't enter into the realm of true violence. No sane person should have more than 10 fights in a life time, and that only if there actually very good.

Parenting has a lot to with it. Parents set the ground rules. Set up structure.
Or they choose not to. Look at those judge shows....many of those kids/young people had terrible parents, and then when they have kids they emulate thar. We replicate what we know.
And let's not start in with the single parent mothers whose male childrne emulate them---over dramatic, eye-rolling, manipulative, etc. They just keep replaying that.
Now, let's take it one step further, today's feminists agenda is that man and his maleness is EVIL, a woman can do what she wants, when she wants, and there shall not be any consequences, otherwise, you hate women. But, a man cannot and shall not do what he wants, or it's condemned. A man is not supposed to be a leader, or he is seen as "trying to hold women down", a man cannot speak his mind, or he's seen as "being insensitive". So what you have left is a neutered male---emasculated. And women, masculinized.
You see this more in businesses, law firms, corporate America. You don't see it as much working for Mcdonald's (unless you are corporate), or working at subway or whatever low end job.
Also, on the other end of the spectrum, today's male has learned to adapt---to do the least amount of work, because many of today's women were not taught to require the men that they deal with to have certain attributes. They were taught to go to school, get your degrees, advance degrees, and listen to no man.
