I was driving back from L.A. when my buddy called me to let me know what Lee was saying on PBW tonight. First when I found out he was going on, I thought he was gonna have it out with Bob again, I was so not ready for what he had to say and did not see that coming.
First, when I heard that Lee was asking back in I thought, no way, he can't be serious after changing his mind back and forth or (joking as he puts it) then I heard he was asking for a special invite at the O. Now I'm speechless! So after ALL the trash talking, the threats of lawsuits, the mud slinging at the IFBB and its officials, the promoters of the Olympia, etc, etc, now he wants everything to be forgiven and compete again FOR THE FANS!!!!
How about the fans (a family) that came in all the way from Australia two years ago just to see him compete and he just said "Sorry! I had to do what I had to do. Is that cool to his fans? Come on! I think it's very convenient for him to say that. I'm sure that to a degree, he does want to do it for the fan but really, he's doing it for Lee Priest, he's realizing now that the PDI was a dead end street and that, it ended up costing him two very lucrative contracts.
Bob told him this would happen and advised against it but Lee had to be Lee and did what he wanted to do. Everyone saw that coming and now, it's here... Everyone is responsible for their own decisions and have to live with the consequences. I hope Lee competes again in the IFBB because that's where he belongs with the best of the best and before you say that I hate him, I say no, I've always been a big fan of his physique, I don't like what he did to many of my friends but I'm not gonna get into that, it's not the point. He should be let back in th IFBB, after his suspension is over and he should go back at the Olympia after qualifying again (which I know he can do).
What I'm really surprised more than anything is, I have read many of you guys's post here on Getbig saying, you go Lee, you give the IFBB HELL, sue them, tell it like it is Lee, keep it real Lee, etc, etc...
I was so sure after the radio show that you were all going to feel let down and say, what happen to all the stuff you said before? We were all behind you! But no, none of that! You are just like, please let Lee back in, he rocks! He's the best!
Can someone explain that to me? I'm sure most of you will take shots as you always do but I'm hoping that some of you will answer my question seriously.

The IFBB sucks ass in trying to control the lives of guys it doesn't even employ. "I won't hire you and give you a regular paycheck, but you have to do what I say 24/7/365." Hell, even real jobs that pay real money don't have as much control over the lives of their employees as the IFBB does over these modern-day slaves. It's not right, and unless the IFBB wants to start putting these guys on staff and paying then a salary, they shouldn't have fucck-all to say about what they do outside of IFBB events. In that Lee was 100% right.
However, if Lee wants to compete in the Olympia before he retires, why not support him? Doesn't change how bad the IFBB sucks.

It's a fair question. No, no ex but a lot of close friends that came in contact with him.
But aside from that I would still be feeling the same way about the way about the whole PDI/IFBB issue.
I'm the kind of guy that believe that you should not forget where you came from and how you got to the top, who helped you to get there. In Lee's case it's the IFBB. Not the PDI.

Some of you guys act like Lee is going to compete forever. Sooner or later it is time to call it a day. Lee has a lot of fans cause he is real or at least more real than most and they respect him for that. Plus, it not too hard to figure out what is really going on behind the scenes, escpecially with what has been going on lately. :-[

IMO Lee creates interest and drama in pro bb which isn't normally there, the fans would rather see him compete against the best field and if that means a special invite - if the powers that be agree, so be it.
The fans by enlarge regard what happened two years ago as yesterday's news and understand (to a limited extent) the motivation behind Lee's actions.

Really, I remember that he accused Chad of using illegal drugs (plasma expanders) in the guys he trained. Thought he brought this up at a press conference though I could be wrong about where. Was he made to prove this like Milos was told too?

LOL!!! I'm sure you did see that coming. The point is these are the guys making really good money but plenty more are making very good money, I'm thinking of my friend Silvio who doesn't have the kind of contracts that they other mentionned have but still makes very good money doing something he loves. He's happy and really, that's what matters at the end of the day. As far as retirement and investments are concerned, it's up to everyone to think ahead, it's their responsability and no one else.

Yeah, but my point is that here you have a competitor accusing an NPC Chairman of being a drug dealer. Did Sean ever have to prove these allegations? Doesn't sound like playing by the rules to me. ??? We just had a similar situation go down and that guy got suspended. :(

I think it would be good for Lee to get a special invite. This Olympia will be huge and if you look at from an overall standpoint, the hype will be even greater with Lee. So many things going down at this year's Olympia!
I don't think more tickets would be sold because Lee would compete this year as people are mostly interested in "The Rematch" this year. I do think that it would create more interest in the weeks leading up to the show but not necessarily more tickets sales.

Giving a suspended athlete with is currently with a rival organization a special invite is unheard of, and it won't happen. Agreeing for Lee to be reinstated after his 1 year suspention is over so he can compete next year again is something different.

Hey Dave, I have to chip in and say that Lee is all for the fans. I have had him to Australia for 2 pro shows and some guest posing tours. At my Gold Coast Pro Show in 06, Lee was not well. He probably could have easily not competed. He could have easily obtained a medical certificate and not gone onstage. He did compete however and it was not for me, or him. It was for the fans and family that had travelled to see him. He got second and instead of complaining, he went out and hung with the fans longer than anyone else.
The fans love Lee, he is freaky, brutally honest and easily approachable. He comes on here (getbig) more than any other pro, takes plenty of abuse, comments and opinions, on the chin. People bag him about his tattoos, ex girlfriends, family and height, yet he still makes himself available to the fans. This is not someone who turns his back on his fans, ever.
As a promoter, I would welcome Lee in my contest any year he chooses. I also know that if he gives me his word, I can go to print. I have never had Lee sign a contract, no need. His word is good enough for me.
For all the haters, here is a shot I took of Lee at 17 years of age. He won the open under 70kg Australia. Lee could have done the Teenage, Junior or novice. Instead he jumped into the open and won. You cannot get genetics from a bottle.

This is what I believe, i believe that Lee went to PDI simply to piss off the IFBB and to show them that he could do whatever he pleases. It was an act of defiance and it worked. I feel bad about that as I hate for people to suffer but when he announce he was gonna go PDI, many people told him it was gonna happen but he did it anyway so it's hard to feel sorry now.
In closing, I want to say that I do not hate Lee, I've always been courteous to him when he came by the store and comp him many things as he's a Pro and I take care of these guys, that's my policy and my way of saying thanks for stopping by the shop. I guess he's one of these people that you meet in life and don't get along too great with. I'm not trying to change anybody's mind about Lee, h has a lot fan and he deserves them as he's a great athlete. I guess the problem is that I know too much about him. Sometimes it's not a good thing, ignorance is bliss as they say.

Was in Sydney a couple of weeks back. Quite a nice contiental Island you guys have down there. Haven't had so many people smiling at me nice since I was a toddler.

But in reality the "rules" are just ways for the ifbb to selectively punish people they don't like
Why would they do that? You talk like the IFBB is 1 person. Obviously some rules are more important then others. It's not like that only in the IFBB but life in general.

NO DAVE YOU ARE WRONG.....I STILL MAKE OVER 160,000 A YEAR MONEY NOT THE REASON.....MY GRANDMOTHER IS VERY ILL I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY CLOSE TO MY GRANDPARENTS AS TONY I AM SURE COULD TELL YOU. As a promoter, I would welcome Lee in my contest any year he chooses. I also know that if he gives me his word, I can go to print. I have never had Lee sign a contract, no need. His word is good enough for me.
For all the haters, here is a shot I took of Lee at 17 years of age. He won the open under 70kg Australia. Lee could have done the Teenage, Junior or novice. Instead he jumped into the open and won. You cannot get genetics from a bottle.

Lee, I wish you nothing but good luck, I do hope you get back on the Olympia stage one day since it's where someone of your talent belongs. If you are moving back to Australia to take care of family, that's very admirable. I actually wish you had never left the IFBB as I think things are more interesting when you are competing and that's no lie. I hope you do go back and never look back.

I never said that. But you are harping on an issue where everybody in the sport is guilty of, it's an unfortunate part of this sport and many other sports and discipline as I'm sure you are aware of (or aren't you?) Not everybody in the sport want to compete in other federations to have their cake and eat it too. Do you understand the difference?

maybe enforce ALL the rules equally, and get rid of the ones they won't/don't enforce. Then they could apply to everyone and not a select few.

I don't know about "ownage" MAX, but why are some rules enforced and not others? Why not just amend the rule book and make a new set of rules, updated for 2007, not 1956 or whenever it was written.

I think you'll get back in the IFBB Lee. I dunno about the Olympia this year, but next year I'm sure they will let you back in. Please don't think your best years are behind you though. Look at Tony Freeman 42? Ronnie is still top 5 Mr. O material at what, 43? Sean Ray is....oh nvm. :o
If you keep taking the goodies you'll be right in the mix of it all. I like the fact you might be going back home awhile too. Kinda like Rocky returning to his native Philly then busting out to win the big one.

I have known Lee since he was 17, that is about 18 years. He has always been close to his family, especially his Nan, who pretty much raised him. He is serious about moving back here and has been in touch regarding that. Lee's grandparents have always been his biggest fans, tattoos and all. They adore him as he does them. He has never been driven by money and as I said earlier his word is gold.

We would love to have you back onstage here again if it all works out. .
As far as friendship goes, I dont care if you are IFBB, PDI, ABBA, NABBA or whatever, we go back!
