The Gods have called home their Warrior son. He was many things, electrifying, awe-inspiring. He trancended from being a mere mortal, the Dingo Warrior, to what the Gods allowed him to be, The Ultimate Warrior. Ares has called him home to the Pantheon of the Gods. But, we shall always remember him as the Gods intended him...no mere mortal, but a Warrior.

He was far and away my favorite as a kid.  Pissed me off that they didn't let him totally dominate Hogan in Wrestlemania 6, which I saw on closed circuit tv at the beacon theater.  People are saying suicide but I'm not sold, he had that Don Youngblood not long for this mortal coil beet red skin.  Interesting to hear what did it, but he paid a price for being larger than life.  He was probably holding on for the induction and was able to pass peacefully finally getting that closure.

we all get warning sings wether they come in the form of redness, zits, aches, pains, high bp, insomnia, heart palp, shortness of breath, asthma, flu, grey hair, stomach pain, allergies ect

i dont understand why more people like the ultimate warrior couldve simply posted on a forum and got varied opinions (even if shitty posts) from other people so they could develop a system of tactics on there own

apparantly the ultimate warrior and millions of others dont seek to obtain knowledge like this for some very weird reason(s)

again you dont just drop dead, people have signs, i beleive everything is fixable, but not fixable if you never adjust and ignore the warnings RIP dude you wouldve lived longer if you wouldve posted i wouldve helped and other posters wouldve helped indirectly because they are so stupid and ignorant that it would be easy to decide not to follow them!

if the man wanted to live he wouldve posted about it on some forums perhaps he did? and was ill advised to eat more meat?

not to make light of the situation but we got to be realistic

in life we have to prepare ourselves to be immortal its the only way . SOmething inside you is wanting you to prepare for immortality we all can agree with this but the most part of you accepts death because you dont beleive in any other destiny but death. BUt  you see the only reason you are not killing yourself right now is that the 1% immortal you inside you, prevents you from doing such a thing, its a powerful 1% eventually the more years that pass and the better you take care of yourself i beleive that this 1% immortal self could possibly grow into 10% immortal beleif system, this is the stage where your start building rockets and spaceships, when you reach the 90% immortal beleif system, this is when your locating and settling upon new worlds starting new civilizations and creating unimaginable things in the distant future

One of my fav's as a kid also. It was a very cool look. I was prob a little older than "a kid" but he had just as much to do with inspiring me to lift as Arnold did. I actually always loved the look of Benoit??? Not sure on the spelling.

We didn't just see these guys standing around and doing mandatories, we got to see them in high intensity action. Made it look more like something we could have fun doing.

Very sad. We are reaching the era where these guys are paying the price for the way they lived in their youth. Too bad. Also can't believe some of the guys that are STILL goin' strong at 60 or over. Insane world, that Pro Wrestling.

Its very surreal that he died after his speech at the Hall of Fame and on Raw. His words were prophetic, like he knew he was about to die and had made peace before it. The whole thing seems like too much of a coincidence. But he looked awful at the Hall of Fame and on Monday Night. He was hobbling around, very out of breath, serious redness and sweating. I honestly think that the strain and excitement from the last few days are what accelerated his death.

Typical wrestler death - enlarged heart, blocked arteries. A life on the road, steroids, alcohol, cocaine, painkillers, fast food, lack of sleep. I will say one thing though - the biggest, most "roided" up guys seem to be far more prone to heart attacks and health problems at a younger age.

The Wrestler is a beautiful, suicidal tendency inducing movie. I actually watched it back-to-back the first time I saw it, it was that good... but, I basically wanted to kill myself. Very depressing movie but I think people should see it. The ending too... damn. Too much real life.

Yes a depressing film, especially because it is a true reflection of what happened to many of the wrestling stars of previous years. Very few wrestlers from the 80's/early 90's wrestling boom had positive endings to their careers/lives.

Peaches Geldof

So easily forgotten

Yeah, its to be expected that more people on a site called GETBIG would give more consideration to the death of the ULTIMATE WARRIOR as opposed to some silver spooned socialite, who has received martyrdom through popular media for, eh, being a mother and dying?

HULK HOGAN is lucky by his nature of being always out there promoting and getting good people doing buissness and him keeping himself in line so he never had to wrestle or appear in a ymca or high school auditorium matches or autograph signings..

Woke this morning with the news.  :(

I, like many others here, was (and still am) a huge fan of Warrior. In fact, right now, on my wall, is my old poster of the dude riding down a desert highway on his motorcycle. (As a single man, I get to indulge my inner child whenever and however I want to.)

As another member has said, it's likely the intensity, excitement and stress of his last few days added greatly to what was more than likely very poor health. Sped the "process" along, as it were.

Everything about Warrior influenced me and made me who I have become as a lifter and spirit.

That intensity and his belief in it was really something. In his prime, he was a force with which to be reckoned, in any sense. Wrestling is fake? Well, that man was REAL and one VERY powerful presence.

My condolences to his family, friends and all the other fans who mourn his death.

HAIL WARRIOR!

When it comes to retired wrestlers he definitely ended his life on the highest note possible.  Was inducted in the hall of fame in the biggest and best wrestling organization to ever exist within an era in which wrasslin fans know exactly who he is and what he did. He also gave one final speech on the biggest wrestling program in the world to a bunch of cheering fans.

Next day his life ended.....Warrior went out on top.

he looked real bad doing the last interview, he was as red as don youngblood was before he died, hope he wasn't using TRT, he needed to shrink post wrestling and normalise his body for the fight ahead, ive seen people that red before, they usually end up having a triple by pass after blockages are discovered he sounded like he was suffocating the other night, shame like many others he couldn't have survived and treated his symptoms, who knows maybe he did, his face certainly looked starved of oxygen the other night.

Sad news... One of the most iconic wrestler/celebrity of late 80s-early 90s, he was a legend... He had very basic abilities, but he had an unmatched charisma, and his awesome peak physique is still overall the best in the WWF/WWE history, in my opinion... R.I.P. Warrior...

He got back to do more wrestling, probably needed money.

Unless somewhere along the line they have managed to cultivate and master another profession, or line of work... it's pretty much all they've got.

Professional wrestling is more than a full-time job.

I'm fairly certain that once you realize you are good at what you do and have chosen it as your career, especially in that line of work, or even bodybuilding, you pretty much have to figure if that's where it started, that's where it's gonna end.

I believe it would be the same for even a truckdriver. There just simply is not enough time to master another profession.

I was fortunate. I managed to begin with three professions and I managed to juggle them and still be consistent in my work and now I am retiring in the one that I knew I would retire into, and it does not and will not consume me. I won't let it.

I had to pay the price by working 24/7 for the first 35 years, and I am still paying for that physically and mentally, but now (hopefully) I can retire comfortably and gracefully without having to kill myself to continue making enough money to pay the bills and enjoy myself once in a while..

Pro Wrestlers deserve a lot of respect for what they do. The time they spend on film is so small compared to the rest of what they do.... like travel...and train... ALL THE TIME! Fuck that! Unless you want to be single for the rest of your life and live like a nomad... and possibly make a bunch of money... maybe...

Go for it?

Sometimes I have to wonder why the Rolling Stones don't retire. You know each of them has enough money to buy whatever they want and retire without ever worrying about finances.

Shit gets in your blood and it doesn't go away even when u r as old as fuck.

Here is an ol skool warrior back stage story ......

One story that I liked, and I can believe (though honestly, who knows if it's true) was that Ultimate Warrior and Brutus The Barber Beefcake were in the back at this house show, getting the paltry catering that was on offer. Warrior was all dressed up in his ring gear and face paint and was 'in the zone': talking to himself, muttering, getting into character. For some reason, he wasn't holding his plate level at all so whatever food he put on his plate kept sliding off. After this happened a few times, Brutus asked "Hey Jim, you need a hand?"

Warrior turns to him, throws his plate on the ground, points at his facepaint and yells "FUCK! WHEN I GOT MY SHIT ON, MY NAME 'AIN'T JIM!"

Lex Luger and Rick Rude came close in terms of definition but never had the same powerful look.

When my dad was wrestling he was on the road 300 days a year sometimes. Although there was no drugs back then, it was a rough life and hard on marriages and family's.  I'm glad that when it came time for my father to retire, he did and didn't look back. It would have been so sad to see him lenger around like so many over the past few years.

I completely believe this story. When I was 13 I went to taping of Saturday Night's Main event in Landover, MD. My father's friend was a rigger who worked backstage and set up the lights for all the events at the now defunct Cap Center. This was late 1987.

Anyways....My father, me and my cousin were granted backstage access to meet with this friend of my dad's. We saw all the wrestlers that were on the card for that night. It was awesome. The first guy we saw getting out of limo was Macho Man Randy Savage. He looked at us smiled and said 'How y'all doin?' That was pretty cool.

Then we saw Andre the Giant heading for the food catering. He was fucking enormous and had the biggest head I've ever seen. He was involved in the main event against Hogan and Dibiase. Actually the main event was Savage and Honky Tonk man.

Ultimate warrior was wrestling a dark match to open the show. He was all decked out in his face paint and hyping himself up. I remember him breathing heavily and pysching himself up and pacing back and forth, looking at the floor. He looked pretty intense and he was jacked up. ahhh....good times as a kid.

Warrior was not a big boned guy; the same as most bodybuilder types.
Small joints and medium to small bones with big muscle bellies.
Considering this; Warrior put the best bodyslam ever on Andre
the Giant AFTER Andre got real heavy - around 550.
There were others who did very good slams on Andre when he was
around 400. Considering Warrior's overall size this was a very impressive feat.

Scott Hall (Razor Ramone) and Larry Zbyszko talk about this along with
talking about Arnold S. around the 2:50 mark.

Supossedly andre the giant was very rigid and not doing well by the late 80's early 90's ,stuck to same formula cause he couldn't move,U.W. and ANDRE had match and warrior was going crazy closethlining him and andre got pissed for real and through him around off script..

Anyone notice how red he looked?

If you've seen his Youtube videos, he's very red in the face in many of those videos as well.

There's a youtube video of that match. Warrior was going for the splash move on a fallen Andre. Andre went off script and stuck his knees up and legit hurt Warrior.

Warrior always wrestled stiff and nearly always pissed off his opponents. His best matches were always against someone who had to carry him throughout a match. Rude and Savage always made Warrior look good in the ring. Rude was a legit tough guy and was known as someone you didn't mess with backstage. I'm sure he had to refrain from beating the piss out of Warrior on several occassions.

Ultimate Warrior was an electrifying personality, but he was a terrible wrestler.   Other than his signature 'body press' finishing move, all he did was run around the ring doing elbow smashes and clotheslines.   No technical 'wrestling' of any kind, ever.

IN tag teams especially he was uncomfortable to watch he would just go up and down the apron SHAKING OR PUMPING FISTS,JUMPING UP AND DOWN,then he gets tagged goes nuts 2 clothelines, gorilla press, gets the win.

Yes...Hogan was better. Hogan had the skill set to perform technical moves if he chose to. Warrior refused to improve his skill set in the ring and just stuck to what worked for him. Can't blame him for that since he was a money making machine for Vince.

Hogan also knew how to pace the match and draw the crowd to the finger pointing or wave when was in sleeper hold or a hold to then frency the crowd

Paul Roma probably had the best genetics for looking amazing if he juiced as hard as some of the others.  Word is that he was very lazy in the gym.  I saw him train once and he just took a fixed 40 barbell and did about 6-7 sets of bicep curls for 15 reps and then left the gym.  Gifted genes, but no work ethic.

Who's the tosser who suggests Warrior didn't have wheels?

The dude definitely had wheels. And good ones.

I recall reading an article during his peak where he said he never squats heavier than 500 pounds, but does that weight for sets and reps. No one who can do that has small legs.

Warrior was an extremely powerful man.

I missed meeting him in the very late '80s when he had come to my gym to train, and I arrived, according to my buds, only a few minutes after he had left. DAMN. But they told me he was strong as all hell, behind-the-neck pressing 275 for multiple reps and sets, like it was nothing.

Bobby Heenan tells an Andre-Warrior story on the "Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD". It's a hoot.

I remember he had a match with Andre, and it almost ended his career. Andre used to like to take a clothesline. And he told him in the dressing room; he told him, "I'm going to swing with the clothesline; you duck. And, I'm going to hit the ropes and take two steps off. And then, hit me with the clothesline and I'm going to tie myself into the ropes!" And, Andre liked to do that spot.

So, Andre missed him with the clothesline. As soon as Andre turned around, he was there, 150 miles an hour......BANG!!!!
(Heenan emulates Warrior hitting Andre with a hard clothesline, before Andre was ready) And, I heard Boss go "MMMMMMMMMM!!!!" Something's going to happen here. Next night, same thing happens, 200 miles per hour....BANG!!!!! (Warrior hits Andre too hard with a clothesline again, before Andre is ready)......"MMMMMMMMM!!!"

Third night, 338 miles per hour.....And just as he gets there, Andre goes.....
(Heenan sticks out his arm with his fist clenched, emulating Andre's doing the same in the ring against Warrior) and hits the Warrior right between the eyes and cracked his paint. We're talking Earl Scheib job, here. His knees buckled; he grabbed onto the ropes (Heenan imitates a dizzy Ultimate Warrior, fumbling to get to ropes)...didn't really know where he was.

Next night, here comes the Warrior: (Heenan uses his fingers to describe Warrior cautiously running toward Andre and hitting him with a somewhat soft clothesline) Dink-da-dink-da-dink......BINK!!!! Andre looks at me and says, "He'll learn!!!" Andre just put his hand up and stopped him. He would stand on his hair; he would do all sorts of things to him. Andre just didn't like the guy, either.

WWE execs and producers are rushing to put together two special tributes for Ultimate Warrior ... the first of which is just a few days away.

WWE sources tell TMZ ... next week's "Monday Night RAW"  episode will memorialize Warrior with much more than the standard blank screen R.I.P. given to most wrestlers who pass away.

We're told producers are still working out details of the show -- but it will most likely showcase U.W.'s most memorable moments ... as well his final appearance in the ring last week in New Orleans

The WWE is also putting together a special that will air on its network next Wednesday, tentatively titled, "Warrior: The Ultimate Legend."

Feel the power.

A meat eater it took him down.

I'd put that way down the list. My thought is a combo of all of these:
1. Maybe he hadn't had a physical in a while, and didn't know he was at risk
2. Toll of roids
3. A long, emotional weekend at WM
4. His general intense nature

Regardless, he leaves behind a wife and kids at just 54. Very sad. But he lived life with passion. He wrapped up issues with WWE and left this earth with no regrets ... other than leaving his kids behind ... if that thought was able to enter his head before he passed on to the other side.

Standard physicals rarely catch pending heart attacks.    There have been countless people who have passed physicals just days before a fatal heart attack or stroke.

The Ultimate Warrior died from a massive heart attack, according to the medical examiner who conducted his autopsy last week.

Officials sai that the cause of death was determined to be "Atherosclerotic/Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease" or heart disease.

The medical examiner classified Warrior's death as natural, meaning neither drugs nor alcohol were directly involved.

Warrior looks pretty well much stil full of TRT in this vid, I dont recommend TRT to anyone with any type of heart issue, it just accelerates premature death, I havent dont TRT in a long time now and did cycle it when i did, It certainly always effected aerobic capacity negatively.

So are you suggesting that excessive amounts of testosterone effect the body negatively at advanced ages?

I absolutely think that the body knows its not natural to have that much test running through it in your late 40's and 50's.

Then again, look at guys like Arnold, Sly, and even our own Wes.

You know what they say, when its your time........

What im saying I stopped, I never used large dosages in my younger competitive days, ,never took more than TRT after retiring and even then did so periodically, but as I have watched others all be it people who have taken much larger dosages than myself drop, I have adopted the view that I no longer want even TRT, it gives my natural body a false sense of recovery, it sucks especially the first 6 months, but after a while you realise that as you age if you want to continue to age not die prematurely you need to listen to your body and have regular checks, do I miss the TRT hell yes, and I will forever be tempted as only training natural can you realise how much 100mg of test a week does. But i have made my mind up and my aerobic capacity is much greater TRT free, its a personal thing and opinion but one im happy to share. The thickening of the blood is something all TRT users need to manage effectively, to me warriors body much like Youngbloods looks starved of oxygen, red  purple look is not healthy.

In Warriors case it could have just been heart attack that would've happened anyway. Obviously his heavy steroid use contributed and he was on high doses for a prolonged period of time. But unlike many other cases of wrestlers dying young they are nearly always heavy steroids users AND use other drugs and alcohol (esp prescription painkillers and stimulants). They are very often very overweight too (muscle or fat) and have personal problems relating to addiction.

What was surprising about Warrior though was the reports on him that he was very health conscious throughout his career i.e. no recreational drugs, alcohol, fast food etc. Apparently at catering backstage he would eat grilled chicken and rice and then crumble a single chocolate cookie in his hand, sniff the crumbs to inhale the aroma and throw it in the bin. This was all he needed to "taste" sugary food. He also had a relatively short career meaning the 300 plus days on the road and bumping in the ring would not have affected him as much as many others.

Pretty interesting. It definitely shows the importance of genetics since his father died at 57 and his grandfather at 52 due to heart problems.

This is why I always eat the cake now. When I was young and dumb I would pass on the cake.

Plain and simple why he was the Ultimate Warrior!

Watched this a few times.

What I don't like is that so many of the people talking on here praising him are the same ones that bashed him on the first DVD.

I can understand to an extent the criticism of Warrior a few years back.

He himself was very critical of others involved with the wrestling business. I remember him calling Droz (a wrestler who was legit paralyzed from the neck down and was employed as a presenter briefly by WWE) "the cripple" in a statement he released. He was very difficult to work with in his prime and the main reason for him falling out with the WWF was because he held the company to ransom for a large sum of money, saying he would not turn up for an advertised PPV main event match unless his demands were met.

Just because he recently made peace and passed away doesn't take away the fact that he did do some very shitty things in his past.

I get what you're saying, but I think although some do go to their graves as scumbags, I do believe that others do make amends for their wrongdoings, do seek forgiveness from those they've wronged, do give out forgiveness to others that have wronged them and do allow the past to be the past.

I saw a lot of that in that documentary and of course we can speculate the amount of WWE spin involved, but I've seen the years of angry videos against Hogan and I saw the reconciliation between the two of them on camera.  It may not have been complete in that moment, but it was certainly there.  I believe it was absolutely there between UW and the McMahons.

When you think about how much money a huge pay per view would bring in to the company let alone the packed stadium tickets and shit tons of merchandise sold I don't think asking for 500 k is that damn much lol...look at how much that goofy little Hebrew Mayweather makes for a fight...Hell I've never even seen that little punk get a black eye..

If the wwf made 10 mil off of his main event...500 k is not too much to ask...Hell Cena  has a net worth of fucking 20million..He should be thanking warrior for making vince pay the damn talent.

Got guys sacrificing their health and risking paralyzation daily..

Fact is, many of Warrior's wrestling peers are jealous that he had the balls to not bend over and allow himself to be used.

And very few of his colleagues would have had the guts to confront him backstage or wherever.

Guy was a beast. No sane human would desire a guy like Warrior to explode all over him in a fit of rage.

Really? Half a million for a 20 minute midcard match at Wrestlemania 7? No wrestler in history pulled that type of money for that type of match.
He also wanted private travel and accommodation, a larger percentage of his merchandise sales, to be the highest paid wrestler in the company and to work a limited number of days per year. Oh and to have creative control over his character. And if his demands were not met he would not show up for Summerslam 91, when he had been advertised in the main event for months. Vince gave in and paid his money for WM 7 and after Summerslam he suspended him.

Warrior was truly a man who lived by his own code and rules. You have to respect him for that. Of all the wrestlers who have fallen out with Vince over the years (there have been MANY) Warrior was one of the few who refused to give in and "come crawling back" (Macho Man and Bret Hart come to mind as others who stood up to Vince and didn't let him use them up).

But you also can not blame those who criticised and severed ties with Warrior in the past. Like I said, he went down in my estimation when he referred to Droz, who was paralysed for life in the ring, as "the cripple". Vince McMahon is not a man who is going to let somebody run all over him and tell him what to do. It was a clash of two egomaniacs and as far as prowrestling goes, Vince is the one who always has the final say whether you like it or not.

Vince should have listened to Warrior.

He would have made that back , and a boatload more money in short succession.

Bad investment not keeping Warrior during that time.

No, Warrior did come back in 1992. And then the steroid scandal hit. Warrior was fired for failing a drugs test and many of the big 80's steroid guys disappeared from WWF. Warrior and British Bulldog were made scapegoats (apparently McMahon singled them out because they were using growth hormone). But it was truly the end of that era. Hogan shrunk and left for WCW. Hogan, Warrior, Bulldog, Warlord, Legion of Doom, Texas Tornado, Sid Justice all were released during 92 as part of WWF trying to change its image when it came under scrutiny for steroid use. That's when the Bret Harts and Shawn Michaels started to replace the muscle guys from the 80s.

The only thing I can really say to this end is this (tl;dr by the way) :

I am not a wrasslin fan and never really was, I would have sleepovers with my cousin when were like 4-6 years old and he was big on wrasslin so we would watch the big shows on those weekends...

My point is this...From those few memories I have of wrasslin I only remember even being remotely interested when The Ultimate Warrior came sprinting out and flipping the fuck out in promos...

Listen to a Warrior promo..He is basically a 5 year old on a shit load of Mountain Dew just saying words lol...It's fucking AWESOME LOL!!

There were the gimmicks, heavy on the infighting, story lines, drama - that played to the skinny fat, balding, middle aged men (sad) that were all about that shit, obsessed....And then there were gimmicks that actually played to (in my opinion) the target audience...4-10 year old boys...lol.

Warrior was what, if I was to be a pro wrassler, at age 5 I would have acted just like Warrior lol, no real technical skill, just sprint in there and fucking body slam someone and pound my chest, then run around more and get the fuck out of there lol. That is why he is SO popular...Little kids took one look at him and FORCED their dad to take them to the events, buy the t-shirts, buy the hotdogs and cokes, and buy the pay-per-views at all the sleepovers..And that is why it is us 25 year olds talking about his death, because we were 6 when he was king lol...

In a way he was a big indicator of the "ADHD" type society that started to evolve out of the early 90s. Where now all the 20-30 year olds I know have the attention span of a meth'd out 5 year old, everything has to be NOW NOW NOW and ACTION ACTION ACTION or we will just flip to another website, or another show, or whatever for that constant action. Warrior was the Human Incarnation of "ADHD" ROFL..

They should've given Warrior what he was worth

Anything is only worth as much as you can get for it. If the best price you can get is less than you feel whatever you have is worth, then what you have isn't worth as much as you believe it is.

If UW thought he deserved a higher salary, then he should have gone and worked for someone else who was willing to pay it. The simple fact is he couldn't find that, which relegated his perceived self worth to the level of delusional.
