I GRADUATED IN 86.. I'm so relieved that part of my life is behind me - all it can do to me now is merely haunt me with it's memories ;D

It took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I hate studying under a regimented way, like how it is in Universities and schools, cause I consider myself quite academic and am in fact, a huge nerd. I love learning and do it all the time, but I can only do it at my own pace, not to mention my interests vary a whole lot. I never had a problem getting good grades - I was top of the class everytime I felt like doing it just for a laugh, which wasn't very often, however.
And I don't want anyone thinking I was molested as a kid or anything, lmao (not that it's a laughing matter) - my dad made a whole lot of mistakes with his businesses and things got very complicated for me and my family as a result. I don't really have many happy memories of my childhood :(

Univiersities can be very flexible (in scandinavia, you don't need to attend classes many places). Classes = waste of time anyway, extremely inefficient way to learn.

I have been thinking about this for a while, what happened to our country? There used to be a time of optimism and forward thinking after the fall of the USSR, but the exact opposite has occurred. Instead of embracing capitalism and self reliance we have become a society of dependency and content, with no ambition of future growth. Everybody wants something for free without working for it: free laptops, free cellphones, housing, food, health care, etc. This mindset never existed among my peers, but seems to be the accepted zeitgeist of this generation. Hopefully this second bout of the worsening of recession secondary to the failure of TARP will hopefully put the fire of self reliance in our society and get us back on track.
