European fitness/figure competitions attire
« on: April 24, 2006, 06:41:03 PM »
How come I've seen pictures of european contests where there girls are wearing thongs?

If that were the case in the US, I would maybe be a fan.

The butt is the most imporant body part on a female, imo and in the opinion of a lot of people so it should be displayed in a physique contest.

That is in NABBA....which allows thongs. Europe's division of the NPC/IFBB does not.

Personally, I would never get onstage in a thong.

The best move the IFBB could make would be to introduce the NABBA-style posing suits to fitness and figure, and DROP THE ONE-PIECE round.

I am ALL FOR dropping the one piece round. Since there are 5,000 figure competitors in the average contest now day's it's like quater turn...quarter turn....16 hours 15 minutes 30 seconds later....quarter turn....quarter turn....okay let bring out the 5'1.5-5'1.6 blond hair blue eyes class....quarter turn...quarter turn....seriously they have so many girls in figure there's like 15 classes and it takes 3 hr's for one pieces then 3 hr's for two pieces....what can you see in a one piece that you couldn't have just gone ahead and see in a two piece....okay let bring all the girls back out with their abs covered up.....next 400 girls form a line here we'll be bringing out the 5'2.5- 5'2.7 red head class....I mean imagine the comparison in mens bodybuilding...okay we've seen everbody in their trunks..lets bring them back out in tank tops...just my two cents.

I never see the point of the 1 piece round myself, and would be more than happy if they tossed it.

Does anyone not think that thong suits could hinder it in other ways? Sure it would increase the [male] fanbase, but wouldn't some girls not want not wear a thong onstage? Reduced number/quality of girls? And what about family members coming to the show? Can you really invite your granny, dad, aunts and uncles to a show if you are wearing a thong? Would it not sexualise the shows, even more so than now?

Ehh...you're thinking too much, CQ. For one thing, having fewer girls competing on the amateur level (NPC) would be a good thing. :P Maybe not for Manion's wallet, but certainly for the competitors and the audience. Secondly, the glutes are an important bodypart in judging a woman's shape and development. That's why the suits are the way they are in NABBA.

NABBA shows seem much better all-around. From the posing suits, to having the women hit a few open-handed poses. Do those who have attended NABBA shows feel as though they are in a hyper-sexualized environment due to the [gasp] thong-back posing suit? I doubt it. Maybe its because Europeans in general are far less prudish about the human body than Americans. Ironically, Americans probably consume (and certainly produce) far more pornography than any other country, but we just don't want to admit it because we're a country built on "solid Christian values and morals."  ::) But I digress...

Anyone who's attended one of NABBA's shows should feel free to chime in. I think if the shows are run in a professional manner and in the spirit of athletic competition, you're not really creating a "sexualized" environment. IFBB/NPC shows, as well as INBF shows, don't come off as sexual environments to me. Maybe its the spirit and/or intentions you that you bring to the show.

They pretty much tuck their posing trunks into their buttcracks already to show glute separation.
