Laura Pausini.
« on: July 13, 2007, 12:35:33 AM »
This is a video of the Italian singer, Laura Pausini, singing the beautiful song "La Solitudine". She is completley unknown to Americans, but in Europe she is as famous as Britney Spears or Gwen Stefani. This, my friends, is what music is all about. Not the trash that Americans are used listening to, like rap and hip-hop, which is more suited for savages beating drums in the jungle. Enjoy! By the way, Laura is one of the World's most beautiful women. Just a beautiful girl, possesed of a beautiful voice, singing a beautiful song! :)

She is also very famous and successful in Latin America.  She sings in the spanish language (castillian) and is also routinely featured in U.S. hispanic media as well latin grammys and awards.  So she is well known throughout spanish speaking Americans.

Ok. by U.S I meant mainstream Americans, or White Americans. And it's funny that she is featured in the Latin Grammy, because, even though she sings some songs in Castelano, she is European, and the only Latin that she might have in her are some Roman ancestors.

Latins also include latin Europe:  Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and even Romania where latin derived languages also called romance languages are spoken, they are the the original latins.  That's why there is a latin america because of latin europeans conquering, immigrating and imposing their values, ideas and religion.  She is Italian so Roman ancestors is a great possibility.

White Americans can also be latins or hispanics who self classify by race rather than ethnicity.

In the U.S, the word "Latin" is used to refer to Latin Americans, not to Romance speaking peoples of Europe. Understand the difference? The original Latins were from a region in central Italy called Latium, or as modern day Italians call it, Lazio. However, North Americans are not talking about Romance speaking peoples from Southern Europe when they use the word "Latin.

For U.S. census data sure but in the rest of the world latin Europeans are latins.  Just like football is actually football not soccer.

I am just telling you how Americans use the word "Latin" Why are you upset at me? I don't use the word "Latin" to refer to Laura Pausini when talking to Americans, because otherwise they'd think she's from Mexico or other Latin American country. I do use the word Latin to refer to Southern Europeans but not with Americans.

Yes, I know did you read my previous posts or did you just glance at them.  I too use the word Latin with non-Americans to refer to Southern Europeans.

For the guy who said that Laura was "nothing special", here's a few more shots of this demi-goddess. Seriously, girls don't get any prettier and more feminine than this. In Europe, there are adolescent boy who literally pass out during her concerts. The goddess-like beauty of her features combined with the goddess-like beauty of her voice makes listening to her almost like being enchanted by a siren! ;)

The problem is that Americans are only 4% of the World's population, and no one gives a fuck what you think, YMCA. Did the World Cup become any less popular because Americans don't care about soccer? No: 5 billion people still watched it. ;)

not only was her wardrobe straight out of The Wonder Years in terms of style, but it revealed absolutely nothing of her body, so there wasnt much to look at except her busted face on the beach with two puppies, arguably cuter than she is

Funny how this nation with 4% of the worlds population is by far the most powerful in the world.

Correction: the U.S is a declining superpower. How so? Most of it's industry is being maintained by foreign scientists and engineers - especially from India and China -, it has the World's largest public debt, at eight trillion dollars, or 70% of it's GNP, it has by far the highest rate of crime and homicides in the industrialized world and it has the greatest % of the population living under the poverty line.

Let's elaborate further. For all of it's supposed greatness, the U.S has failed to produce a single physicist of the level of Newton or Einstein, a single musician on the level of Mozart, Chopin or Beethoven, a single painter in the level of Rodin or Da Vinci, a single poet on the level of Goethe or Shakespeare, a single universal genius on the level of Leibniz or Aristotle.

Basically, the U.S hasn't invented shit. It did invent a few things, like the electric bulb, but it's inventions pale in comparison to those of Europeans or the Han Chinese. The only contribution of Americans to the World is inventing the mass consumers economy. For instance, an European invented the automobile, but Americans mass produced it. While Ancient Rome will be remembered for it's contributions in engineering and jurisprudence and Ancient Greece for it's aesthetic sense, the U.S will be remembered as the Coca-Cola and McDonald's superpower. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice... ;)
