This idea that this planet is over populated is a lie. There's plenty of room on this planet. It's western civilization's wasteful and gluttonous ways with limited resources that is not sustainable. So their answer is to kill people vs. changing the behavior.

I think you're confusing Bill Gates to Steve Jobs.

Jobs didn't give a penny to charity, he was a dick to people around him. Gates is the greatest philanthropist in the history of mankind. Who cares what he wears. He could hold on to his cash, but he gives it away and has made many of his billionaire buddies do the same. He's saved around 6 million people from death so far. Jobs has just created an annoying army of snobs.
