If an insult hurts you...its because deep down you know its true.....

If an insult hurts you, it's because deep down, you believe it is a negative thing to be whatever you're being insulted as.
For instance, it exposes the target to a theoretical world in which they are gay - the target then immediately feels the hate they have for gay people on themselves - as well as the shame and other myriad negative emotions that they would feel if they were turned gay with a snap of a finger.
It's a weapon people use to fuck with people who put wayyyyy too much negative emotion into whether other people are gay.
If someone says I'm gay, I don't give a shit - not because it could be true (it isn't) - it's because if I was gay, I'd be fine with it.
An even better example is if someone in your life just starts accusing you of being a child molester. Now, given that is an almost universally hated thing to be, being accused of that would irritate you at the very least. Job done. Got a rise.
It's not real sentiment - it's just a way of making you feel bad
