Im at the show writing from a Sidekick.
Lee Preist is gonna get first, then Frey, Voltron
Rhino is getting screwed, he looks like he dialed it in, very dry.
Russians everywhere, big crowd on hand.

u the man.
lots of big haired girls there?
-
We all know Lee will win. We're more interested in the attendance... any idea how many there?
-
jaejonna, how many people are there?
I heard from a super reliable source that 100 people showed up.
Are there 100 there?

PDI is not going to give the IFBB any competition however I do think it has legs. It's an alternative for a lot of great bodybuilders to compete in. The show was very well run and professional as you would expect from Wayne Demelia. The guy knows how to put on a show. The judging was interesting as the night show counted a lot. When they compared the top 6 they went straight into the posedown because they said they did quarter turns and compulsories at prejudging (which I did not attend).
Wayne said he is commited to the PDI so we will see more shows. He also gave a plug for the Mr. Olympia and talked about Ronnie and the possibility of him winning and making history. He says he has no grudges toward the IFBB and doesn't consider PDI competition for them. He just wants to promote bodybuilding and give the fans and athletes and alternative. Class act all the way.

Sounds great.
You know, Wayne has said all along, that he wasn't looking to compete against the IFBB. So I don't see why so many within the IFBB Company men, have such a problem with PDI/Wayne.
It's just an alternative, at this point. Will it compete with teh IFBB someday? Well, that remains to be seen.........

That answers your own question. That's exactly why the IFBB company men have a problem with the PDI.
-
right now they have one ifbb 1st tier pro...who will be the next big name to jump over?

i wasnt there...that feedback was taken from another board.
i did hear that there was a tall bald headed spy lerking around the auditorium.

If they have a system where the prize money goes to a separate holding before the show then i believe that PDI will get calls from guys that are placing near 10 in major shows (arnold and O) and 5-10 at smaller IFBB shows.

Thats what i thought too. That damn Wayne did it again >:(
-
it could have been 30...i heard 20 and a ring.
maybe the ring was worth the other 10. ;D
-
Jack aka Rhino does bodybuilding for fun, not for money. Dude is a billionaire already ::)
-

It was never $30,000 to the winner it was the total purse and always has been. No where did it say anything different. Good try
-
either way not bad for a nights work.
what was the 1st place money at the colorado pro agian?
-
Decent show. Nobody except Frey deserved to be on stage with Lee. Production was pretty good. Auditorium was sold out and noisy as hell. I will answer some questions for anyone that asks.
-
The backdrop on the stage look pretty darn nice and professional in the pics. How did it look there?

The stage looked good. The music cues were right on.
-

many music errors?
how were posing routines?

-
They should have been happy with Lee winning he was the only Pro in it.

I was waiting for you to rain down comments. ;D
I have some as well:
-Was the crowd entertained?
-Any boos? Was Jimmy Vest booed off the stage for showing up in a fat suit?
-Did the competitors seem happy with the judging and their prizes?
-
Did you take any pics?
Can you estimate the number of people at finals?
Were any BBers super cool/ super A-holes?
Who was the emcee?
one word to describe the whole event-?
-
I usually only attend ASC and a few Mr. O's. I was in the area and wanted to see the hype. I will probably never attend anything other than the ASC in my home state. Make no mistake, this show has nothing on the big two IFBB shows.
-
I thought the 1st prize was 30k and a 5k ring????.Total was said to be 55k.WTF.
-

how did rhino look? ...his placing answers that question.
but how did he look anyway?
-
only two IFBB pros in the contest, Lee, and Valentine Jabes.

Why were some people on this board saying the show would have low attendance? I checked the Ticketron website a week ago and the best available seats were way in the back. It was obvious the show would sell out.

Dude don't say that. Chic will come on here saying all kinds of stuff that is fact and how everyone is lying about the attendance. So will Horton and Lift. We already know how Sean counts.
-
You know whats funny is Lee just made more from the PDI than Chic has with the IFBB. Monster owning of Chic.

Rhino finished 18th. ha.
i have a better build than him and so does Adonis and we don't take steroids.

The NOC pics are supposed to be posted on Monday. Check back.

Congrats Rhino, you proved to everyone that you wouldn't finish dead last. Looks like Santa Claus came early for you.
Hey! I never come early!
-
Congratulations Lee on your win - see you at the Olympia, whether in the show or at the expo signing autographs.
-
By any standard, PDI's first show was a success.
I'll say this...the top 6 could be competitive in the IFBB, especially the top 4. That said, I think its unfair to say. A proper comparison would be to the IFBB back in the 1950s and 60s when it was starting out, gaining a foothold in territroy dominated by Hoffman's AAU. THAT SAID, the PDI is ahead of the game.
-
Congratulations Lee on your win - see you at the Olympia, whether in the show or at the expo signing autographs.
Thanks Ron will see you there somewhere.:)
-
CONGRATULATIONS my friend. I hope all goes your way.

Hello all,
had a great time. Didn't take too many pics. some didn't come out.
The one of the best parts for me other than the guys being on stage was getting at least the top six to sign
the programs on their pics for the inaugural of the PDI
Loved the guys in the kilts.
Sean allen said he was pissed, but he did sign for me.
Lee, Sami and Rhino...I let them know I see them on GetBig.
Great guys all around.

Hey Lee,
Congratulations. I was impressed by how professional you were during prejudging. You gave every competitor your attention and didn't act like you were better than others.
Unlike Shawn Allen, What was up with him? Was he annoying you by fidgeting, making faces and not standing in his place up on stage? because he was sure annoying me and others in the audience. He was taking attention away from the competitors on the dias. He may have been bigger than a lot of guys, but so are you and you didn't act like you deserved special attention. I noticed you didn't let him engage you too often and you kept your focus and respect on the competitor in the spotlight. That was cool.
I know you might not be able to comment on him, but thanks for acting like a real pro.

I hope the PDI doesn't become the laughing stock of bodybuilding. there was hardly any top star in the line-up. we'll see what happen in the long run

Thanks, I still looked like shit, was way off the mark, Not sure/overcarbed-went flat? Still trying to figure it out.
I apreciate your words though.
-
Its alright Jack, you can still go back to your normal life without any interruption, look Kevin went back to his life on the range after his career...
-
okay, the place was almost full, the show ran really well, there were no problems.
everyone got along, the athletes were all happy, and you havent heard a single complaint from anyone in attendance.
for a first show for a bodybuilding organization, this was pretty much a success.
I have noticed that Bob Cicherillo has been really quiet, Shawn Ray has been really quiet, Kevin Horton has been quiet too.
Do you guys think they'd have been this quiet if the show had sucked?
-
the athletes were all happy
You're kidding right? Without Lee that show was a joke.
-
I heard that all the people in the audience wondered why the tickets that were being handed out on 42nd St. said "Free!! Live Action" when the people on stage looked like they were one step away from death..
Truth be told, you could of gone to the show for free... i did and left

Hope Lee gets his check when the urine test comes in ! But then again, I'm sure they won't fail him, however, I'm not sure about the other 5 guys.
