another fanboy

HAHAHA yes I can't stand them, they are oblivious to everything in the business. Their favorite BBers tend to be the guys splattered all over the ads in mags and they find most of their BBing "knowledge" there too.

The sport is changing into a new direction for the good.  Getting mainstream takes a well spoken person, not just the body.

I agree with the judges decision about electing Jay as he makes the better speaker.  What would have Victor been good for?

I like the way this sport is changing, people should be looked at more than meat.  Jay all the way!
IT WILL NEVER BE MAINSTREAM

Look, it all comes down to money and business!  You guys are the dumb ones for believing that the best man wins.  It is about what is good for the people in charge of all this.  Always has and always will, just ask Arnold about the 1980 "O."

I am not the stupid one for posting this topic.  It is the plain truth. You guys are stupid enough to think that every year the "right person" will win.  If that was the case, Dexter, Shawn, Nasser, would have won at least one.

If you guys start thinking like business men, then you would be more accurate about who the winner might be.

Start judging these contests in this mind state and you might start calling the winners better.

I'd bet the rent check on it.

The Mr O is a business enterprise.

Businesses are able to enjoy the most value from their entities when
1) They own all licensing rights
2) They can build longterm product recognition

Jay winning the O does both.  If you hand the Sandow to Vic, Dex, Wolf, or melvin, what happens?  You can't have the champ on FLEX or MF covers for 12 months.  That's kind of a problem, eh?  ;)

Also, there are a great deal of ads, promo materials, products, websites, etc that carry the title "Jay Cutler, Mr Olympia".  It would cost a great deal to remove all of that - and the longterm business relationships that go along with them - if Jay doesn't win the title.  Imagine Muscletech, after putting $X into the show, having to call every GNC in America and asking them to remove the Jay Cutler Mr O signs and products.  Imagine the cost to the company.

The Mr O is a business enterprise which is dependent upon the name recog and sustainability and ability to market, of the champ.  The Super Bowl, on the other hand, is not.  Peyton Manning and Tom brady could sail away into the sunset in a rowboat together drinking wine, and this year's game would be just as good.

Jay's gonna win again.  I think most realize that.

Look, this person has got the right thinking.  You guys need to start thinking like this!!!

I have "mad love" for Jay.  I think he is the "rightful" Mr. O.  He speaks well and knows how to present the sport.

You are stupid for posting this topic.  You're just another twat holding what he thinks is a smoking gun.

You think that we all think that the best man is going to win.  You're wrong.   We all would rather, for the sake of competition that this happens.  There is a distinct difference.  For every idiot such as yourself purporting that "there must be continuity for revenue building", there's two people disillusioned by mindless incumbency who take their money and run.  Point blank, you're wrong.  There's no sport or redeeming value in your way of thinking.  Its hilarious.  Jay is not a talisman of bodybuilding, he is not the advert you run for 10 years because people love the theme tune, he is not your key to brand recognition.  He doesn't have that.

Furthermore, go do some research into the "WBF", the moment in bodybuilding history where it had its biggest chance to go mainstream.   Failed miserably.  Watch the shows.  You'll notice something.  Its boring.  It is never going to be engaging.  Never.  There's no hiding from the fact that its boring.  You're accosted by a severe level of delusion if you think that bodybuilding is going somewhere.  At best, it is a stable income for the powers that be.  People not willing to take risks.  Hence their line of thinking.  Its not about the marketability of Jay atall.  Its about the fact that they've got themselves a consistent stream of income and fiddling with the formula might threaten this.  Nothing to do with the muppet at the top.  The risk they took was last year when they let him have it finally.

Its a shame, because the general public are on the whole fickle and would much rather the drama that goes with frequent champion changes.  If bodybuilding was going to appeal to the masses it would be based on "soap opera" theming ala Wrestling (and the WBF).

If I had to guess you're a small business owner who has purchased his first marketing book and suddenly believes he is an expert.

The only mainstream attention bodybuilding gets is negative attention. Ya know like top 6 guys at the Olympia getting arrested in conjunction with steroid dealing. In any case the general public i think leans toward a body more like Zane's yet maybe not as defined. Seems more attainable....funny thing is it's really not. When i went to LA I spoke allot with Harvey Keith a former bodybuilder that trained with most of the top guys from the 70's. He told me that Zane used just as much if not more stuff than any of the other guys at the time. So its kinda hard to make something mainstream when you need to engage in illegal activity to participate.
