UFC in it's early days (with no rules) was the best sport in the world.

It's funny, as soon as a real powerbuilder gets in the ring (Mariusz) he is already competent enough to contend with former champions like Tim Sylvia.
Just goes to show that a lot of powerbuilding combined with a little mma is greater than mma twinks that spend 4 years working on their cardio.

You are so misguided. Cardio is incredibly important for boxing, wrestling and mma. Running out of gas is a major problem in the fighting arts. Just as Mariusz illustrated in the Sylvia fight. Sylvia is a shot fighter. Mariusz was never a factor in that fight and he lost. A Power lifter with a little MMA will be a factor in fights is just day dreaming. Most twink MMA guys with cardio will tap out powerlifters weighing a lot more than them. My advice to you is start rolling on the mats with jui jitsu guys and then come up with an opinion.

In my opinion, UFC peaked in 2009 with UFC 100. It went downhill since. Just too watered down now. UFC fights used to be something you would get excited about, they were truly events. Now, every time you flick on the TV there is some UFC fight night on TV or some UFC match on the tube every other week. Just lost it's appeal.

Mariusz went Purple and Beached in that fight and was a total mess in that fight, even against a shot fighter such as Sylvia,
Mariusz did improve some during the years though, but his cardio was the worst during that time.

Mariusz went in there and competed against a former heavyweight champion of the UFC!
Anyone else would be starting out fighting a bunch of schlubs in some no name org.
Mariusz was able to compete (win or lose) at that level off te bat due to his elite powerbuilding background.

The point is a big stronger powerlifter kind of guy can go into a mma gym and with a little bit of training beat the shit out of guys who have being training for much longer, strength is important in a fight, a submission move like a kimura a strong guy can tap you with it even if he does not have the technique down 100 percent.

LOL. Mariuz got schooled and humiliated by a washed up Sylvia. Notice Mariuz didn't go down from a punch. He just gave up and fell to the ground ground on purpose because he was so exhausted. And this is one of the greatest athletes in the world.

I can respect many ultra masculine activities like Rugby (Ive played myself) or straight up boxing but for me UFC/MMA is too much blood, just a bit too brutal for my spiritual nature. Equating violence with manliness is base thinking.
