To keep kids from shooting each other...  Teach gun education in school at a young age.  Good or bad idea?

I am definately pro-gun, but teaching kids in school? no. Teaching kids at home? yes. Just like sex ed, it should be handled by the parents.

Should have a teaching course for parents on how to discipline their bastard children.

MY son knows how to shoot. He started on a .22 and has worked his way up. I had him go through the NRA training course for kids as well. He can ID most military weapons correctly.

Nah.  But I think they should treat guns like cars.  Make people prove they know how to use them, get a license, renew, etc.

they already do. The problem isn't the people who follow the laws, it's the people that break them.

People have to prove they know how to use a gun before they buy one?

I'm not making an argument that guns are the cause of gun-related crime.  I know it's the people.

no, but they do have to take a safety test/watch a safety video before buying one. But again, these people are interested in doing things legally. Others, not so much.

How about we pass a law requiring parents to layeth teh smacketh down?

Kid cries in public, then you need to give him/her a backhand. And if you don't, then you get fined.

Kid tries to act smart, then you must twist his/her ear.

We should train our kids like the dog whisperer Caesar Milan trains dogs.

We had a shooting club in HS. 50ft NRA indore smallbore. Shot at the Nat Guard armories.
We'd load guns car to car during hunting season too w/ out a eye batted.
Yes teach basic gun safety. but The inner cities are hopeless no matter.

He hunts with his grandfarther and I don't hunt so i figured it was the best way for him to learn gun  safety and hunting related rules and stuff.

Unfortunately, too often laws deter law abiding citizens, rather than criminals.

I think in the right area's it would work...us hicks have hunter education which is basically how to safely handle a gun and I would say it works. You hear of very few accients in rural america. I think you need to change the whole inner city mind set before gun safety even becomes the issue. Right now those kids think they need a gun to survive...thanks 50 cent

Bad idea.

That's a topic best left to parents.

Besides, who is going to teach it? Liberal teachers? LOL

Its more about where your from..good idea in Montana bad idea in East Los..besides what are u going teach..hunting safety is the real point of any NRA class. i know my son was told more then just how to shoot. He got stuff on wearing his vest and how to walk around and what he needs for a license. The stuff he got from me is all military stuff.

THey should have trained Professionals teach basic gun safety from Kindergarten IMO.
From as simple as dont touch guns; To.. Fire @ center of mass till the slide locks back, and reload while assessing threat!

HUnting safety firts..my kid doesn't need to know how to pie a room and then take it down...how to reload his H@K special MP5 10 MIL with laster scope and telescoping stock. Further how to spread load his compbat shotgun for room clearing..hinge removal and riot control. He needs to make sure he keeps his rifle on safe and not to point it at people. .....Make sure he has his deer tags and that he wears his vest.
