as usual the plot was too hard for me to understand :-\
just like "psycho americano"
:-\
-
IT was never stated one way or another.
-
SPOILER:
You pretty much find out in the end that he really is crazy when they are sitting on the staircase chatting.
-
Yes Leo is mental and the situation is manipulated so that he accepts finally accepts reality and thus prevents the need for him to receive a lobotomy. Unfortunately it fails so at the end he is about to get lobotimised.
-
i wondered if the story was meant to imply he was not mental
in that case what the fuck
there are easier ways to get brain surgery guinea pigs than kidnapping a marshal
-
ROFLMAO,
THAT movie was too difficult for you to follow?

but i'm sure at the end he knew what was coming and was infact wanting the lobotomy to finally escape the pain he was going through..
makes me chuckle when cunts on film forums all try and make out they saw the twist coming after five minutes of the film starting ::) cunts!!!
-
i liked it.
great ending.

Exactly this. How you didn't get this when they spell it out at the end is beyond me. Now, had you asked about the ending of Inception, you could argue how it ended.
-
It was clear he was an inmate when the armed guards were all eyeballing him when he arrived on the island.
Totally gave the game away.

I am sure you came to that conclusion after you saw it. No way you knew everything in the plot after 5 minutes of watching.

Yes, Leo really has a problem mentally.
-
vasectomy = no pulling out, no condom, and no conception occurs. BMC approveded.
-
Lobotomy Rob! :D
-
Well.. Depends on who ya ask.. One "theory" put forth by the writer was that Leo is no longer mental but knows he won't have peace ever.. So he opts for the lobotomy.. That is why he just goes to his fate knowingly and willingly.. They, the guards and doctors never say what they are there for.. Yet he goes to them willingly.. Before he does he asks "is it best to live like a monster or die like a man" .. Or something like that.. He knows what is ahead of him and does not want to live with he memories.
-
Well.. Depends on who ya ask..
He's asking SF1900
-
He's asking SF1900
oh no ??? ???
I thought it could go either way, mental or some sort of conspiracy keeping him there.
-

LOL.

When I was younger I worked at the St. Louis State Asylum as a painter. Underneath the building were a bunch of tunnels that would lead to what appeared to be torture chambers. They had the classic steel hoop drilled into the wall to chain up these people. An old nurse who worked there at the time said she was in the room on many lobotomies and shock treatments. She said they would just really experiment on them doing barbaric stuff since the majority of the patients had no family come to visit. She said eventually a standards committee or something came in and shut the place down for a year due to unethical practice. She said after what she had seen in her life she felt at ease about her death, she had cancer and died a couple months later.

Doctors back in the day were free to do whatever the fuck they wanted.
My grandmother was a lab rat back in the day when she had TB.
They pried open her rip cage with no morphine to see if cutting up her lungs would stop it. They did that a number of times until they realized it just made shit worst.
Its part of the reason Ill never call a doctor doc. Fuck em.
My retarded folk were treated no better.
Which is why I loose it, when black folk try to talk about shit that happened 400 years ago.

damn thats crazy.
That same nurse told me that she saw some doctors put maggots in the brain through a hole they drilled thinking that they would eat the diseased part. Some people thought she was full of shit but she was in her 80's and I think a volunteer when I met her. Why would she lie? Even though I was a strapping young buck 25 years ago I enjoyed hearing her stories so I always stopped by her station to chit chat.
-
Inception too
-
Exactly.
-
A LOT of things make me wonder like that last Bat Man

nice stories to tell your grandson. Somehow, she was as fucked up as them it seems.
-
Layer Cake was made in a similar fashion as well, sort of...

She was a nurse so probably just following orders. As for Grandkids...I don't have any kids to give me some, that I know about anyway...lol. Just me and the misses in mid 40's. Too late to start the baby shit.

Nope, me and my partner are pretty good at working out film plots.
We were watching "sixth sense" and when Willis was sitting on the park bench after being shot, my missus said "is he already dead"?
Film was shite after that.
-
He is mental during the role game, however, this time it worked and he's back to reality. But still, the things he's done are unbearable to live with so he voluntarily chooses for the lobotomy instead of it being forced on him.
-
so was "american psycho" all in the bateman's imagination?
i guess
some disagree
-
My post above yours is Shutter Island to a T anabolichalo, no need to doubt me, it's an easy movie and I'm a genius.
For those that don't get Shutter Island, some David Lynch-movies would really end up with them in an asylum I'd venture :D

i thought something was going on

lol, only a "genius" would think there's anything to "get" about a david lynch movie

Idd. But only in the end. If he really was a marshal I can't remember for certain but I think he was? It's told in the movie. Did you miss everything? :P
-

So you think there is nothing to get, only aim is to create confusion?

What ends up happening to everyone on Getbig? Do we live happily ever after? Do we finally get 20 inch arms?
-

we all lose our dreams and wake up to reality
-
we all lose our dreams and wake up to reality
I cant face that reality...Ill take the lobotomy
-
Did Arnie really go to Mars or was that just his fantasy he paid for? If it was his fantasy was he then really married to Sharon Stone?
-
I cant face that reality...Ill take the lobotomy
no need for lobotomy
just be that old guy from bigger faster stronger living in a trailer next to golds
-
Shutter Island is good, nice ending, but I just felt it was a Silent Hill 2 rip off.
I kinda knew how the movie was going to end because I've played SH 2.

Years ago people with obvious cases of ADD would be looked at as "mental"...Now a lot of these people are the creators of business in the world.

pretty random statement ???
-
another one is,in "one flew over cuckoo nest", does the tall indian guy get away to live a peacefull life?
and, was he actually mental?we know jack wasnt really mental, he just turne mental in there
The majority of the patients in the mental hospital were there voluntarily. McMurphy was not (sorta). He was sent there in lieu of going to prison for statutory rape. He had a choice per se, but didn't know what he was "signing up" for. Since he was a "troublemaker" and Nurse Rached was losing her "control" over the ward, McMurphy was eventually lobotomized. There really was nothing mentally wrong with him until then. That's why Chief did what he did in the end. He couldn't bear to see his friend like that and knew he wouldn't want to live that way. There was nothing mentally wrong with Chief either. He escaped in the end to fulfill McMurphy's original plan of getting out of there.
GREAT MOVIE

I agree with this. At the end, the penny dropped I believe

Eventually we'll all wake up, and gone is the dream of having a 10" penis, a few million in the bank, banging supermodels, having moviestar good-looks, a physique rivalling a prime Ronnie Coleman etc...
Eventually, we will have to face the reality.
-
Need help with Inception seen it three times now does he really get to be with his kids at the end or is that just a dream too?
-
as usual the plot was too hard for me to understand :-\
