Has anyone with cancer successfully done this?
It's not something that's really easy to gauge. It's not like cutting dairy out of your diet and seeing whether subcutaneous bloat is reduced or not. My stepdad's been doing really good with his cancer battle and is eating a lot less overall. Because it's kidney cancer he's got to be careful with his dietary choices, but carbs are pretty low and brought down how overall caloric intake. He still works in a busy warehouse (shipping and receiving) so he's found just the right amount of physical activity to still work full time and stay physically and mentally fit.
I think from that I've seen that a lower caloric intake, primarily from reduced carbs, is a good thing. Glucose disposal agents like metformin have been looking good when it comes to breast cancer but I haven't seen it used in other cancers. And the studies are very few and far between. My stepdad's oncologist doesn't want to screw with anything right now as he's responding well to his treatment. But they said they could prescribe it if things go downhill as there's only 1 other cancer drug available for his cancer. I hope they open up more trials and conduct more studies. It seems like they're digging in the right direction.
